Sea vs NE is like ISIS vs Al Queada....

I'm a little worried about this. But, Denver with all those weapons did a lot of short passes in the SB last year. That didn't work out so well. Maybe Brady is better, but if the playoff's have showed us anything then this should be the first thing we try and stop. NE has been doing it all throughout the playoffs. (Little short quick dumpoff's) Depends how we defend, but we should be playing it very tight since Brady's deep ball is not always the best and they usually don't even try to go deep. I don't think NE has played a Def lately that will get up in your face like we do though. Balt sat back and let NE throw it underneith all day long and it killed them. I don't see us letting that happen without smashing them first for little running after the fact. But, I hope we creep up on that stuff! If not, that will be a failure for our coaching staff. It's clear what NE does and needs to do. Gronk over the middle is the other key to stop of course. There will NOT be any killing of us though. That doesn't happen on this Def. Shoud be a good close game.
  2. I agree with this.... I've noticed this too. We usually pull it out, but the game always seems closer and Wilson has an unspectacular day in the rain and never looks right. For the life of me I don't know why Wilson didn't run more though that being the case. The option was never used much until the very end when we finally did some damage. Bevel had one of those games that gets my blood boiling I think.
  3. I'm still spent... Hats off to GB. They owned the game until 3 min. left. Way to go Hawks! Kept fighting on. Wow, what a game. Whooo SB again baby.
  4. Yeah, that was a good read. Lots of truth in all that. Good article. The plus part of everything for us though is this: -SD had a perfect game plan and rivers was perfect. Woodhead was doing damage, and Rivers was always in 3rd and short. Gates played out of his mind. It was clear, Chanclor was hurt though. It was a road game and early in the year. -Dallas beat up our line and ran on us hard. This is where Cam and Maxwell and Wagner all got hurt. It was Beasley that got torched. It took a 3rd and 20 to beat us still. We were messed up and even had to move Sherman around to fix our problems. Dallas was red hot. -KC pounded us on the ground and used the Dallas plan. We had no answers at the time on run def. I think we had a poor game plan. Still had injuries of Wagner, etc.. Wilson had a bad day and KC has a good Def. Beasley again got torched with Maxwell, Lane, and Simon hurt/out. -Rams were really lucky against us and have a really solid def. that always plays us tough - Took many fakes to beat us. Still had some problems stopping the run. All injuries are clear. Beasley is NOT in the lineup. Run game appears to be fixed. We are on a Hot streak and we are at home, unlike 3 of those 4 loses. You don't usually win them all anyway, and we have turned it up in the last 2 months. Rodgers is not mobil now and will have to sit there like P. Manning in the SB. Lacy is a slow RB where our speed and power should shut him down. Should be good game! Have fun - Go Hawks
  5. I'm sorry. that was my error. I thought I read GB only being down by 7 into the 4th qrt. I appoligize for that misread! I see your point about Carolina. Cam did look bad at times. I guess how much of that do you want to give credit to us? Overall, I thought they played well to keep it close. I don't think it was our best day Def until the 4th qrt. Comparing that game vs plug in GB is something entirely diffrent though. You can't take 3 qrt's, plug in GB, and make a case? I don't think anyway. But, it should be a good game. I agree. Have fun!
  6. I don't think Philly was Pooh poohing on GB. He was simply showing the end of the year stats. Those end of the year stats are true regarless of how much you want to say they are better here or better there. Those were the facts and end of year final stats. They also don't play Seattle 16 weeks out of 16 so really the stats are meaningless. That being said, the stats favor Seahawks overall for his basis of his final projection. But, I also want to clarify your error in our first matchup. GB was not within a TD in the 4th qrt. Actually it was 22-10 in the 3rd with Seahawks driving to the goal line. Then at the very start of the 4th Qrt Hawks scored again making it 29-10. I call that a blowout! Sure, halftime was close. This is always the case with us. We keep it close at half and then open up a can of whoop ass in the 2nd. Also, this is with a perfect and healthy Rodgers, Healthy Lacy untill we hurt him, and a healthy Oline, and Peppers who hasn't won cr ap in his own right. But, none the less - Enjoy the game! Have fun. It could be close and nobody is a sure thing. GB does have lots of weapons. But, I like our chances.
  7. I agree..... We've struggled giving up long drives when it's 3rd and short. And after teams have gotten a nice chunk of yardage rushing. But, most of those games were on the road. (Dallas being the exception and that was after we had a bunch of injuries. (Namely Wagner/Maxwell) I think stopping Lacy and getting them in 3rd and 6+ is the key. (That didn't happen vs Carolina so we need to do better with this. Key for sure) But, GB almost has to have a perfect pass game to still beat us that way. Hobled Rodgers I don't think can do it. This is going to be like a sitting duck P. Manning in the SB IMO. Plus we might tear into GB Def on the flip side. I sense PAIN coming for Rodgers and company! I might even feel bad for Rodgers in this. Loved how I heard Earl Thomas say: "Rodgers ain't hurt" - They are amped up and going to be bringing it on him. GO HAWKS
  8. Love the detailed posts Phillybear! I think you were right on point with everything. I loved the part about Maxwell and how he didn't even play last game. He might be a huge key for us. He's a great corner and allows us to go deeper at the position. We should run better too as Carolina was prepared well and playing good. I think Phillybear layed down the facts. Period. I'm not sure how you can argue that great post? Sure, nobody knows the final results, but those were all facts laid out other then the final prediction score. And that looks about right too. The dribble about GB being a different team seems less factual then anything he said. They hadn't played the likes of Seahawks after that game so of course they are going to get better after a huge loss. Rodgers and everybody else was perfectly healthy that first game. We beat up on Lacy. There Online was healthy. Just because they ran better later in the year, doesn't mean they became better? Seattle just won the SB, and a let down to GB could have occured easily. It didn't, we spanked them and shut them down while blowing them out. Now we have a hobbled Rodgers, and Lacy gets benched more then he plays. I could see a Blowout again in all reality. (And the same results would happen EVEN if Rodgers was healthy this game, so don't want to hear that garbage after the fact either) But, his post was spot on and provided facts. Good job. I agree that Philybeer missed the evaluation on Wilson. But, he admitted the mistake eventually. He's usually VERY good at evaluations though with a great track record. Not all of us agreed with him on that though. I was a HUGE Flynn supporter, but what Wilson did in the preseason changed my mind in an instant. I was also very high on the pick before preseason. I had Wilson rated ahead of Tannehill and #4 on my board with a huge "want" on him. Although I thought he was going later then the 3rd too, but loved the pick. So not all of us were wrong about Wilson. I loved him. I think Phillybear gets wrapped up a little bit to much with draft capitol vs good talent. If it's a great pick, then it really doesn't matter where we draft him. Although, I also agree it's smart to not take a guy to early if you can get him later. (I think Wilson was close though. Irvin was not. Well I guess I just didn't like Irvin much) Anyway, my evaluation of Wilson was very high. He showed great tapes and play in college with very little INT's. Great accuracy. He's always been a passer first, and runner second while looking down field to pass with his head on a swivel. Smart guy and proven by how he learned two different systems. Also saw him the the Gruden camp and loved what he did there too. Not that I knew he would be this good, but that was a great pick in the draft. The Seahawks Blog (board room full of Seahawk fans) were also pretty high on Wilson. Not sure how you can bash him for something so long ago and one bad evaluation on his part? Also the Hawks have always had a ton of fans. We've always rocked the house way back in the Kingdom days. The fans have always been here and we are always loyal. Of course it's going to get bigger when we have more success though. The Mariners still get tons of fans even though they suck every year. I still see people wearing Mariner gear even though it would get much crazier if they became a champion or a playoff run. We support our town and are always here! When your in the middle of a playoff run though - Then it looks like there are new fans. But, IMO it's more about the support becomes greater because we love our team and to show our respects. But to your point, bandwagon fans are everywhere and for every team/winner. That is true. Good posts Phillybear - Love reading it. I had the score: Hawks 17-7 at the half - Hawks winning 30-21 (But GB last TD coming in garbage time and maybe by Flynn)
  9. Oh, I didn't realize Cable had that title. Your probably right then. I don't think those two are bad. Bevell can be trouble sometimes as he gets boring, but it's not horable ether. Sometimes our play calling is masterful even. Way better then the old days at least. I guess bring in some new blood then for D-Cord? I think Quinn will be gone.

    NFL Conference Championship Predictions

Good luck! I got bounced in mine already I think. 6,500 1st place prize. Just couldn't get many Seahawk and NE players and had a late draft pick. I also didn't score enough early on like I was banking on. To many #2 or #3 guy's scored instead of my #1's that I had. (Ex. T. Williams instead of my Dez Bryant) I also had Flacco so I really needed Balt to win instead of NE moving on.

    NFL Conference Championship Predictions

Hawks over GB: 30 - 21 (17-7 Hawks at half) (The last TD by GB coming in garbage time, and it might not even be by Rodgers and rather Flynn = Hawks bring the PAIN) Colts over NE: 34 - 31 in O.T. (21-17 NE at half) (Luck the new man on the block beating Manning and Brady. Viniteri game winner over old team) Wilson vs Luck SB
  12. Quinn will go to Atlanta I think. They look to be patient for him. Other teams probably know that Quinn wants to go there too. Good spot for Quinn I think. But, I am also glad to see the other teams in our Div. lose some of their good coordinators. We are plug and play system now. Like NE. Whoever fills are slots will be good. Whoever leaves won't be as good. I say it's mostly because of Carrol, but also Mr. Schneider. Those two are amazing! And as much as I don't like Cable doing any of our draft picking or input for draft picks, I think he's a great coach too. He was actually starting to turn Oakland around before he left. I wonder if he gets promoted if we lose Quinn or where we turn if we lose Quinn?
  13. Hawkfin

If you were starting a real NFL team...

    1. R. Wilson 2. E. Thomas 3. R. Sherman 4. Kam Chancellor 5. B. Wagner
  14. GO HAWKS! Lets do this. Hawks 10-6 at half Hawks win 23-6
  15. Or one more win by Dallas and we have a spot too. The only reason we don't already have a playoff spot is because IF Dallas lost both games, and Phily won their last game they would still get the Division. In that case, if we also lost BOTH games then Dallas I think would go over us and push us out instead. Detroit has already locked up a spot now with the Phily loss. I'd say it's more like 99% chance we are in. And yes, one win and we are in also. Phily is all but out! But, f k all that. Beat Arizona and get the #1 seed. That's the plan!
  16. Nice job. Two really big key guy's. Maxwell next? Then on to Wilson and Wagner next year. We'll have to see about Lynch. I hope all 3. Maybe they will make Lynch play out the contract again though and bye another year. Nice write up on the Arizona game also Phillybear. Nice read. I think we should not take K. Williams lightly though. He's a decent and fast runner. Stop that run, get a lead, and then force them to throw causing turnovers. Basically the same mold as the last 4 weeks. On Offense roll out Wilson, use the fake option run, and organize quick pass plays vs there blitz. Maybe even a trick play thrown in. And keep pounding them. Go Hawks!
  17. Love that they are starting early! Love me some John Schneider. The more I think about it, KJ is a pretty important part for us and very solid player who's young. Our Def. is getting locked up. Glad they locked him up early so we don't get overwhelmed later with all our other guy's. Good job John. 23 - 3 win this week. (Getting that first round bye and home field) Go Hawks
  18. Yeah was just getting ready to post my thoughts on Maxwell... I think you captured a lot of it here though. I think him and Wagner are major important guys. I think it was really noticed on Def once these two came back along with a healthy Cam. My priority: 1. R. Wilson of course 2. Wagner - HUGE - Most important against the run. 3. Lynch - We don't have to keep him, but I think we should. He's our offensive "muscle" and our face to the offense. He runs through people unlike Turbin or Michael. I think we should try and keep him. That being said, he's probably going to be gone for others on this list. 4. Maxwell - We have depth, but not that much. I like Lane a lot. I hate burley. Simon/Thurman get hurt a lot. Max is right up there with Sherman to me and locks down his matchup regardless of how much he's tested. Still pretty young. Our def is now in place with him back. I think he's a huge factor why were playing so well right now. Along with Wagner. 5. Avril - Clemmons gone showed up this year. Really missed his pass rush. Avril is a carbon copy of him. Sure his stats might be down, but it's because teams are focused on shutting him down without fear of much else. (Have to say Bennett is playing way better then earlier) But, when we really need a pass rush - It's Avril. (We need a compliment to him though) 6. Kearse - Pretty important, but he hasn't stepped up that much. He would be a loss for sure, and force us into looking at WR once again. Heck, we might need to anyway. 7. I'd like to keep Wright/LB if possible, but not maditory. I really like the Pierre-Louis kid a lot! (I think M. Smith can go instead) Cuts/Let go guy's that I don't care about or last choicies: -Irvin - For sure gone. He's not the answer at any postion. -Mebane - He'd be last on my list of priorities to keep, but Hill is doing fantastic now and we need new blood here anyway. Mebane has never had a pass rush. Stops the run ok, but I don't see a differance without him in the last 3 games. He's a guy you keep if possible. -M. Smith - Where is he? I never even see him. He can be gone as far as I'm concerned. -Okung/Carp - I really don't care. If either wants big money - See ya. Bailey is just as good IMO. We need to revap the line anyway, and Okung is always getting hurt. I'd say Okung over Carp because he's a LT, but this is not a priority to me. NEEDS: 1. Oline, Stud TE, DE, DT if no Mebane, FB, probably WR again
  19. The problem in the red zone for us besides playing good D's is our play calling. We are 1st and goal at the 1. We go in shot gun EVERY play from there on. Only run it once. This has been a problem all year too. Sometimes we don't even have a RB in the back field so the Def knows it's going to be a pass. Why run out of a shotgun in that situation? Pound it up tight. Even with a FB. Especially on 1st down on the one. Get under center inside the 10 and if you don't want to run the ball (Which we should) then play action fake it or roll out. At least keep the Def honest with the threat of a run that were so good at. This shot gun stuff is not needed when your inside the 1-10 yard line. It's pissing me off! Maybe it's the new Center I guess. But, I don't get it. But, can't complain. Very happy to see our Def back! We are getting this Div again. GO HAWKS Oh P.S. - Philybear - Nice post again. Great insight throughout. Hoping for a score like that, but it could be a lot closer being on the road.
  20. Harvin did nothing for Wilson... This makes no differance to Wilson. Harvin never made down field plays at WR for us. I blame some of this on how we used Harvin, but overall he's not that great being a WR. In fact, we've been waisting down field plays trying all that reverse, short pass crap with Harvin that did very little. Sometimes even putting us in the hole. I've been wanting more plays called for Kearse deep (Where he's best) and more plays to Baldwin who's our best catcher and maybe route runner. Maybe they bring in the rookies too where they need some play time as they have potential. Business as usual for Wilson though. No differance. Maybe more down field stuff though, but also more pounding the rock too.

    Harvin traded to Jets

I'm shocked being a Seattle homer. Almost seems like a bit of a panic or I guess a statement maybe? But, what's upsetting the most is how much we gave for him and now only a conditional pick back, that might actually only be a 4th. I HOPE it's a 2nd though. That might almost be like a 1st which would be cool. Like somebody else said, I wanted C. Patterson that year. That's what we should have done. That's what I wanted back then. I think what's been said here is about right: -Locker room not positive. -ALWAYS hurt, and hurt currently. -While he does gadget plays, he's not a good traditional WR. Not that 1,000 yard wide. -People think of him as a play maker, but the reality is he's got a horable YPA as a WR even going back to Minn days. He gets stuffed a lot. -I think the utilization of Harvin failed. We tried a ton of plays for him this year and nothing worked great. Might be better going more traditional. -I think we are going to go back to bread and butter - Pound the ball - While going downfield more to Baldwin/Kearse. -We got young guy's that need to see the field. -And the biggest thing what others have said - Free some money for next year. Hopefully save some of that Def as we can't lose more. Plus Wilson will be expensive. Overall, I think we'll be fine. I do think Baldwin & Kease get a little bump. Baldwin has been very fustrated this year not getting touches and with Harvin gone there is more room for both these guy's. But, we be pounding now for sure. Where I'm fustrated is the fact our O-Cord can't put a game plan together to use ALL aspects, including a dabble of Harvin and others, while pounding the rock too. Also the draft capital lost over all this mess is bad. But, we move on quick even if it was a mistake or not. So that's always good. Maybe they are now thinking about keeping Lynch? They recongnize he's our bread and butter and the face of the Hawks winning. Kickoff return = Harvin gone =
  22. Yeah, Congrats to Dallas! They played a great game and kicked our butts on both sides of the ball. Both our lines were clearly beat, trashed, and looked over matched on this day. Like the S.D. game we can't get off the field and allowing 9 min. drives all day. This is killing us. I think it comes down to 2 positions that need fixing and Maxwell injury is going to compound that. -No pressure on QB this year. Why? Because we lost our best pressure guy in Clemmons. I said this earlier in the year: Clemmons opened up everybody else and especially Avril. Now all they have to do is block Avril with there best pass blocker or hold him a little bit, and were screwed. Bennett is not fast enough and not there every play. Irvin sucks bad. The rest are just not up to snuff. This is killing us. Clemmons is by far hurting us the most this year on Def. We need to move Avril around and figure out who else can get a rush on or step up with design (unique) blitzes. Our best rush was when we blitzed Wagner. -Beasly (sp?) sucks. He was getting beat as a 3rd corner every time on 3rd downs in other games and again against Dallas. Maybe he's ok #4, but overall he is not what we are used to on Def and giving up plays. He is the type of guy that lets you catch the ball and then tackles you. No good. If I remember right, he's the one that gave up the 3rd and 20 to T. Williams too even though that was an amazing catch. Maxwell going down hurt us and will hurt us worse if he's out for a long time. NICE to see Sherman follow Bryant though. This should be the norm as I think he did very well against Bryant who mostly went to the opposite of Sherman's normal side. I think he did fine against him doing this role. Just because it's new, doesn't mean he shouldn't do it against stud WR teams. (S.F. maybe not, but teams like Detroit, Dallas, etc. yes) Maxwell was also getting beat sometimes this year trying to cover the top wides in the league, although he's good and did ok. But, overly picked on. So this will get Sherman more involved in the game (Which we need as a playmaker cause teams are still avoiding him) He can do it clearly. He'll get more props league wide that he wants. This will let Maxwell be more of a playmaker against #2 Wides and an easier day. This will also keep Thomas from having to cheat over where they are killing us in the middle of the field with the slower Chancelor. I think it's time we adjust since teams have to us it appears. But we really need our other 2 corners back cause the Beesley no good. Other concerns: -O-line for sure. We all knew this though. Okung is just sucking. Maybe it's the injury, but he's not right. The Center being out can't help. Z. Miller is missed a lot! We all knew O-line was our weakest part of our team though so leave it at that. -Bates - Off Coordinator. He stepped up last year and called some great plays this year. But, there is times he goes into a funk. This was one of those times. They need to ease up trying to get Harvin involved and instead focus on a well balanced attack. Get Baldwin and Kearse more involved. Little Harvin here and there. But, try running on 2nd down too. Geez. 1st down runs only and right up the middle. Maybe a draw. Wilson was also in the shot gun every play it seemed like. "BALANCE" I think the complete rhythem screwed though with our Def on the field the entire 1st half. Like SD game. OK OK - Just 1 game though. I think we'll bounce back. But, there is some issues we need to fix. (SD & Dallas can lead to a trend. I fear S.F. will be similar if we don't fix) And draft wise it's already clear what we need: Pressure DE - (Irvin cut) Stud TE - (We need a Gronk who blocks and catches - Miller getting hurt a lot now) And of course lots of Oline help still. I really thought we were going to crush Dallas being at home. Since when can't we tackle? I'm dissapointed. Oh well, on to next week! GO HAWKS

Just got offered McCoy for Ellington.

Dude, this seems like a no brainer to me. Take the trade. Garcon is clear cut the better player over T. Smith IMO. I'd also rather have K. Davis over Brown. Not only are you making out with those guy's, but I'd rather have McCoy by far too. I consider you a winner on every player. Think of it this way - McCoy has not started off very good, but he's been servicable for the most part, just not a #1 - You have a losing record - Chances are he and you will rebound. Plus you've upgraded your WR. Besides Arizona will be playing Div games soon. Seattle, S.F., etc. I think they will begin to lose and are on there way. If you DO make playoff's - Ellington's matchups suck so you would want to trade him anyway. I would sure be more worried about facing McCoy/Garcon then Ellington/T. Smith. Not even close. The only concern you have is the bye week and losing again. But, that has nothing to do with the trade. The trade is good. Just figure out what you can do for McCoy's bye week and hope to get past it. I'm shocked you have this offer! Take it. IMO the trade seems a little lopsided in your favor.
  24. Not sure what your point is Filthy. It's clear that you are bringing in a crazy situation where Dallas has a horrible matchup on the road to my Hawks team that plays great Def. Vs playing against Buffalo. I don't see this even being a question of who would get more points between the two? Both OP's however, never knew who was clearly the better player based off matchup, etc. and neither did I myself. You on the other hand should have an easy choice here if real. We never said this is a "must do" all the time. If you know who to start based on the point projection/clear matchup/etc., then go with it. Pretty clear that Brady should easily out produce Romo this week. And the matchup clearly has you at a disadvantage if it's PPR anyway, since he's got every WR taking away ALL of Romo's stats. If not PPR, I guarantee you that you would not be hurt going Romo though. You will match everything that they all do and it will be up to the rest of your team to beat the rest of his team that's left. As long as you are far better elsewhere on the roster compared to him. You would in fact hedge their production by starting Romo in non-ppr. If everybody scored, you have Romo with 3+ TD's too. So while this is a safe play it might not make sense this week because Brady has a MUCH better chance for 3 TD's in his own right. And if it is PPR, then this actually hedges you much worse because he's got every one of Romo's wides. Now if Dallas is playing N.O. - Hell ya I start Romo. I don't want Dallas going off on me and not getting a part of that. And I'd feel good about it knowing I have the QB where they all get there stats from. Again, as long as the rest of your roster is better then the rest of his. This situation is also worse cause Romo could have 3 Int's where the production is still ok for the wides. PPR piling on that worse. You would be clearly at a disadvantage in this situation and it supports him hedging you. I would go Brady and root for Dallas to suck bottom line! I feel ok about that because of the def they are playing against. vs the def. Brady is. Breakdown projection: (Assuming PPR) Romo = 220 yards 1 TD, 2 int. = (13 points) Williams = 3 for 30 (6 points) Bryant = 5 for 80 1 TD (19 points) Witten = 4 for 50 (9 points) So clearly they beat Romo who can get punished for mistakes against a good Def. Overall, you wouldn't be that bad off as you took away 2 of his guy's. But, it's not good enough. PPR makes it worse then it is and hedges you though. And Brady could have 25 points based off his matchup to where you have NO FEAR of Romo putting up 400 and 4 TD's. And that is the key. Your probably not even worried about his 3 Dallas guy's. There's no fear of that matchup. Where Brady could explode. So this is a trick question because the matchup clearly favors Brady in this. I give the hedge in this case to the other guy! Reason why you don't want to start Romo here unless this is "non-ppr" maybe.
