Percy Harvin week 13 are you starting him?
Maroon Bells replied to Super Cubs's topic in FFToday Board
Agree with everything you say here. Still, it bothers me that he sat Tuesday and was limited Wednesday. I need to see a full practice before I go with him. And since my other two options both play on Thanksgiving, I'm pulling him. Just can't risk a zero with playoffs on the line. -
I need Kaepernick to not fumble twice before getting hurt and leaving the game.
-
It's a combination of both for me. I'll play the good matchups now, but I always have an eye on the playoff matchups, because as bye weeks clear out, you typically have a few extra roster spots to burn on a 2nd defense if there's a particularly sweet matchup that you want to target in, say, week 15 or 16.

Fitzgerald looks great for the next several weeks. But he's got a brutal playoff schedule. But your order is about right.

Dez Bryant vs. Tom Brady- Screaming analysis
Maroon Bells replied to tbone138's topic in FFToday Board
These specific tantrums may not be the perfect examples of this, but there is prejudice involved in how most of us see a Brady fit as opposed to a Bryant fit. Remember the two pictures from Katrina? Both helicopter shots, so they had no idea what they were really doing: White guys: Caption: "Two residents wade through chest-deep water after finding bread and soda from a local grocery." Black guy: Caption: "A young man walks through chest deep flood water after looting a grocery store in New Orleans." As a Viking fan I remember how white fans would revile Culpepper's thuggy "bling and hubcap spinners" culture but praise Favre's hard-working "Wranglers and pickup truck" culture. These are EXACTLY the same things. But how we view them is completely different based on our perspective. It's not necessarily racism, but it is the very definition of prejudice. -
Tell me more about this Timothy Wright.

Yeah, I wouldn't start Hunter over any starting back. Hell, even Willis McGahee vs. the Chiefs. But if we're talking deep leagues and guys like Robinson, Choice, etc. I like him as much or more more than those guys. Hunter has scored a touchdown in 3 of the last 5 games, and tends to get more carries the bigger the blowout. Just think we could see a 20 point difference at the half and a chance to rest Gore's ankle and jetlag. :-)

Percy Harvin - explosiveness? trade value?
Maroon Bells replied to bryce_paradyce's topic in FFToday Board
I wouldn't take Leveon Bell for Harvin. If I were in your position, I'd wait to see if he gets activated for Monday night. If he's active, and plays just a little bit, but doesn't set the world on fire, you can probably get him cheaper. To answer your question, yes, I think Harvin comes back at 100% and is a very solid high WR2 for the rest of the year. -
I picked up Quarless. The Vikings are terrible on defense and the cover-two they play is notoriously bad against TEs. I don't know anything about this Bostick guy, but I think Quarless will be a solid play this weekend at least.
-
Yeah, I think Kendall Hunter might be a sneaky play this week, too, for all the reasons you outline, but also because Gore's nursing a sore ankle.

And so the "yo yo" theory gets more ammo. I make it a rule to never target players who went off the season before. Always say "I don't want Doug Martin; I want THIS year's Doug Martin." "I don't want CJ Spiller; I want THIS year's CJ Spiller." "I don't want AP; I want THIS year's AP." Fantasy players everywhere, BEWARE THE YO YO. And yet, we'll all be back here in August ranking players based almost exclusively on how they did the year before. :-)

Agree and disagree. Before the injury, many were pegging him as a 2nd or 3rd round fantasy draft pick. I thought that was too high. For a lot of people that's a WR1. He's never been a WR1 in my book, and probably never will be. However, the poster you respond to conveniently leaves out his rushing yardage and TDs. In 2011, Harvin had 1300 total yards and 8 TDs. And that's with Ponder at QB. Keep in mind that his rushing totals also make him one of the more consistent fantasy players as well. Unlike a Fitzgerald or a Nicks or an AJ Green, who can be rendered a bystander by an elite corner, scheme or a bad QB, Harvin will always get you an additional 4 or 5 points just from carrying the ball. And I think the thought is that with a QB who can get him the ball downfield more consistently, Harvin has a chance to really explode—especially considering how dangerous he'll be in a read-option. I didn't like him the 3rd round, but I LOVE getting Harvin free off the waiver wire as my fifth WR. I think he's going to win a lot of fantasy Super Bowls this year.

Anything can happen, that's why they call it fantasy, but I like Foles' chances of beating even that. And , honestly, I would've played Foles vs. Dal over Wilson vs. AZ every single time.
-
I'm starting Foles over Kaepernick. To me, that's a no brainer. Tennessee's pass defense ain't as great as its billed (4th against QBs) because they haven't really played a really good QB yet. But the big reason I don't like Kaep in this is that the Titans' run defense (8th worst) is so bad. Harbaugh has shown that when given the choice, he'd just as soon keep running the ball. I see another big win for 49ers here, scoring in the 30s and Kaepernick throwing the ball about 20 times. Philly and Dallas is likely to be a shootout with two of the league's worst pass defenses. I'd play Foles over all but a few QBs this week.
-
I don't like Crabtree. His timeline is really late, plus it's an achilles, man that's just really hard to come back from. I tend to think he'll be on a lot of benches during the playoffs. Same with Jon Stewart.
-
I say no way. The biggest problem is that Seattle will likely put Richard Sherman on Fitzgerald and Palmer will probably just avoid that matchup for the most part. Anything can happen and I really like Fitz down the stretch (until his Super Bowl week rematch with Sherman), but I'm sitting him this week.

Any chance Chris Johnson turns it around after this week ?
Maroon Bells replied to snatchit's topic in FFToday Board
I've owned Chris Johnson in the past and he's the perfect example of a back whom you can't trust against good to great run defenses, but he'll blow up against bad run defenses. After the bye, his run defense schedule lightens up quite a bit. -
Think I'd put Bryce Brown just under Ben Tate at the top.
-
I think TE production is more based on the OC and the kind of defense than QB preference. I think everyone in Minnesota gets a tick up, including Peterson. Just not sure Freeman does. He's got a sieve schedule in the next several weeks, so he's going to look much better than he really is.
-
Markus Wheaton. Won't be this year though.
-
Shorts never has and never will be as talented as Blackmon. Shorts was a helluva sleeper coming out of Mount Union and he's surprised everyone. Great WR3 if you got him, but Blackmon has Dez Bryant, Julio Jones, AJ Green type talent. Imagine if he had a QB.
-
I would say Dunbar, but with the hammy and Randle getting a better feel, I see committee.
-
You sure can tell who the youngsters are.
-
Why is it that everyone seems to have forgotten that this guy was the #4 overall pick in the NFL draft two years ago? There was a reason for that. I was shocked, seriously stunned (and I said so here) that he was going for $1 in auction drafts and undrafted in most snake drafts.

Trading peanuts for Roddy White right now would be a very smart move in my opinion. I'm assuming he gets healthy in a few weeks and he'll be the only real receiver on a pass-happy playoff team. Everyone tends to play in the now. This is when I start thinking playoffs. I drafted Blackmon, picked up Harvin last week and I'm thinking about asking White's owner just how frustrated he is... :-)
