  1. Here's more

Vikings placed WR Percy Harvin on injured reserve with an ankle injury, ending his season.

As beat writer Tom Pelissero opined on Twitter, that escalated quickly. Coach Leslie Frazier admitted Wednesday that Harvin may not play again this season, but it stood to reason the Vikings would give their second best player another week or two to heal up. The fact that they haven't is a strong indication he needs surgery after tearing a ligament in his left ankle in Week 9. The news leaves the Vikings embarrassingly thin at receiver, and coupled with Christian Ponder's frequently dismal performances, places a massive load on the shoulders of Adrian Peterson as they fight to remain in the NFC Wild Card picture. This is the first time in Harvin's four-year career he's been placed on injured reserve. He had missed just three total games coming into 2012. Entering the final year of his rookie deal in 2013, Harvin's contract figures to be a point of emphasis for the Vikings in the offseason. He was a legit MVP candidate before going down. Harvin is still only 24 years old.

  2. Kyle Rudolph was taken to the locker room in the fourth quarter of Sunday's Week 12 game against the Bears to be evaluated for a concussion.

He had five catches for 55 yards and a touchdown before exiting. The Vikings were trailing by 18 points late in the fourth quarter, so Rudolph may not return whether or not he's medically cleared. Rudolph has scored in back-to-back games, and now has seven touchdown receptions on the season.

  3. Matt Forte exited Sunday's Week 12 game against the Vikings with a third-quarter right ankle injury.

Forte limped badly to the sideline, hopped on the trainers table, and was eventually taken to the locker room. While Forte made his way off the field under his own power, he was clearly in pain and his right leg was stiff. The right ankle is the same one where he suffered an early-season high ankle sprain. The Bears are saying Forte is questionable to return, but we'd bet he's done for the day. Forte finishes with 42 yards on 14 carries and two receptions for four yards.

  5. Danny Amendola (heel) is active for Week 12 against the Cardinals.

It comes as a major surprise, as Amendola was listed as "doubtful" on Friday's injury report after failing to get in a single practice rep. Typically, only Brett Favre or a player coached by Bill Belichick would suit up despite a "doubtful" tag. However, Amendola did play through the injury for the second half of last week's loss, and was able to move without much of a hitch. It's possible he'll be mostly used as a decoy, but if you don't have any good options for your WR3 spot, Sam Bradford's favorite target is worth a dice-roll start.

  6. NFL.com's Jeff Darlington reports Julio Jones (ankle) "looked just fine" in pre-game warmups Sunday, and a Falcons source confirms Jones "looked good in practice all week."

If you're planning on benching your WR1, it's getting less and less defensible. Jones is clearly much farther along than he was in Week 11, and is squaring off with a league-worst pass defense that will be missing its top corner in Eric Wright. Start your stud.
