Collinsworth said Lewis didn't gameplan for this game so he wouldn't give anything away to the Jets. They are intentionally dogging this one to draw the Jets in the first round -- guess they feel the Jets would be easier to beat than the Ravens. You can actually see defensive players pull off from tackling (like the Cotchery TD, #44 had him lined up but slowed down to allow Cotchery to get in), and normally sure-handed WRs drop easy catches. The #4 defense in the league will not look like this next week against the #21 offense. The starters are out there for one reason only -- the NFL moved this game to prime time to close out the regular season. It's funny to see Jets fans acting as if their team suddenly woke up and isn't a 7-loss team.

I knew I'd come here and read moaning bu MJD owners for him doing what he was obviously instructed to do if the Jets laid down for him. Smart move -- you'd have to weigh it against how many times the Jags kicker has missed an extra point, since that's what it was basically. I thought it was great just so we'd have some more Rex Ryan sour grapes after the game.

I'd say it's been 3 games in a row so far. Looks like the Sanchez lovefest is over.

Ronnie Brown getting tackled heaved ball out of bounds.

The rule does matter because the refs determined that he got the ball out first -- in that case, we're debating whether what he did was intentional grounding. It's not listed as a tackle, a sack, or even as a penalty in the play-by-play. Though I agree, he was down. -
His knee was down, and as he was falling foward toward the endzone, he bumped into the defensive player before he hit the pylon. It was a silly challenge though.

I believe the exception for being out of the pocket is to protect the QB from being clobbered by a defense that's bearing down on him (as is usually the case if he leaves the pocket if it's not by design). Brown was out of the pocket, and the ball definitely went past the line of scrimmage. Personally, I thought his knee had hit the ground before he threw it, but I guess Ryan didn't see the benefit of challenging a 2 or 3 yard loss. If a RB were to throw the ball on a botched sweep, the offense would get an ineligible man downfield penalty anyway, so it wouldn't really benefit him much. -
I would have to say that rolling up 117 rushing yards on the Pats is better than "mediocre." The Jets weren't spectacular, but they were efficient, and that defense completely took Brady out of his game. Dour Bill got outcoached. It probably won't happen again in the rematch, but to say the Jets were mediocre is sour grapes.

Pennington and Fasano were the biggest gets of the offseason. Fasano hasn't had many receptions, but it seems all of them are big and clutch. Sunday will be tough, but that Ravens loss was 10 games ago -- this is a much better team than it was in week 7.

If it was stopped consistently, you'd never hear of it again. I love when the Dolphins try it, and it gets stuffed, the booth guys always talk about how all the teams have figured it out. Then the next time they try it, it results in a big play. I love it. Won't work against the Ravens next week, but it's not as if the Dolphins rely on it to win.

I don't understand this misconception about Pennington. The Ravens had a smothering defense and a great running game. Miami has neither really. Pennington has had to step up in almost every victory and make plays -- it's insulting to what he's accomplished this year (he'll likely end this year as one of the NFL's top QBs, with 3600+ yards, 19 TDs to 8 INTs, and a QB rating in the high 90's) to say his only job is to not make mistakes. The TD pass he dropped into Martin's hands Sunday was as pretty a pass as you'll ever see. This isn't necessarily directed at you, just at the general perception that Chad has been nothing more than a game manager this season. Without his playmaking ability, the Dolphins are 3-4 win team this year.

Am I the only one with Deion Sanders headache right now? Why was he allowed in the booth?? It sounded like someone told him to take it down a few notches after the first quarter, but as the game wore on, he couldn't help himself.

I love Ronnie Brown, but no way he should've made the Pro Bowl, much less make it over Steve Slaton -- that kid has had a great year. This is what happens when fans vote I guess.

Prefer to win this week with him playing and take my chances on starting one of my reserves next week than to take a goose egg for him this week.
-
Touchdowns do suck, don't they?
-
Needs to amputate that toe and get back out on the field. Wuss.
-
Yeah, twisted his ankle pretty bad. I'd be surprised if he came back after that. Sucks, he's one of my top scorers.

Can you imagine a competent front office letting Welker go? Thank god those dark days are over.

Christ, that team is cursed. I've had Hillis for 3 weeks, finally started him this week. At least he got a TD for me before his season ended.

Starting over Portis. All 3 of my starting RBs are rookies (Slaton, Hillis, and Forte) -- only one I drafted was Forte, the others were WW steals. I like my chances -
He won it for me in one league -- I actually said to the TV, "C'mon Steve, break a long one for me!" and then he did -- won by a mere 2 points because of that run. I felt all-powerful. That league is just a straight W-L work league, so no playoffs, but it kept me in the hunt. In my money league, that run brought me within 9 points of winning the division (thus winning an extra payout), so it was heartbreaking in that respect. But I blame that loss on Portis. Still, I love this kid -- hopefully he doesn't go down the path of the last fantasy stud Texans RB ...
-
That's who I'm counting on next week while sitting Portis. I'd say 3 strong weeks in a row have earned him the spot.
-
I've found it comical that they've been listed as wild card hopefuls the past couple of weeks.
-
So like most other mediocre QBs, he's only good when the defenses are bad. Man I can't wait for some team to pay him starter money next year, only to find they've got the next Derek Anderson.
