    Trading Draft Picks

Not nearly enough info in this post. 1. How many teams in league? 2. Redraft or Keeper (and how many keepers)? If this is a standard redraft there are tools available on the Web (I don't know where, try google) that will give you a draft value board with the first overall pick starting at 1000 points and everything after a certain point being in the 100s. It doesn't go down in increments but actually forecasts based on teh value of players in the past what each pick should be worth. Of course this assumes you draft the right guy, but thats a different issue.

    Who would you keep?

Sure if you're not high on Curtis take DIllon. All I'm saying is that you need to let your projections (both for the players and your FF team) make this decision for you. You don't have an obvious choice.

Which team would you rather have?

Ok so this really boils down to Plummer/Alexander/CJ/Coles vs McNabb/Caddy/Wayne/DJ When I look at this it seems obvious. Go with Alexander. You always want to be the guy that gets the best single player. To add to the obviousness you also get teh 2nd best player (CJ) going this route. As for any argument about the QB...who cares? The difference between SA and Caddy will be astronomical compared to the difference between Plummer and McNabb. Moreover, Plummer will probably play 16 games whereas McNabb will play 5 awesome games 6 pedestrian games 2 half games and sit for the other 3 (I'm an Eagles fan, ignore the bitterness).

    I need your help...

Palmer doesn't factor into this discussion so it comes down to Moss or Owens. As they are both WRs it comes down to your projections for those players. Personally I would keep Moss if you are out of it for this year (ie you are building a team to set up for 2007) and Owens if you are going for it this year. I have Owens pegged for 14 games and 1450 yards/12 TDs. He's going to be a beast but I bet he's hurt come the FF playoffs.

    Trade C.Cooley/M.Vick for S.Gado/T.Bell

I voted Gado/Bell and that's with me believing Vick is going to make a bit of a comeback this year. Bottom line: You can have a QB and a TE or two RBs. It's a no brainer unless you are in a league that starts two QBs or has extra poitns for TEs or something. By the way, if you have LT and LJ your league is an absolute Joke or you are the best FF player of all time so this piddling trade shouldn't worry you too much.

    Who would you keep?

Based on the overall crappiness of your choices you need to pick your keepers based on your target draft picks. For example if the talent pool in the draft is going to leave you with some options at both QB and RB, I would definitely consider taking Joe Horn and Kevin Curtis. They will at least be serviceable starters in your league (I should say 'could be'). On the other hand if you are a big believer in Maroney, it makes sense to take Dylan. Likewise with Jamal Lewis/Mike Anderson. I guess the bottom line is that you don't have any players in the top 28 (that's how many keepers are in your league) so you need to do some research and figure out how your team is going to shake out next year. There is no obvious choice.

Is Chester Taylor going to a stud?

Absolutely not top 10 in my opinion. If he stays healthy (and we don't know that he can) I could see him being top 15...ie bottom of the backs that start 16 games. The Vikes have a new HC which may eliminate some of the RBBC issues of the past. However, Moe Williams and Mewelde Moore are still on the team and you can bet that CHildress will find a way to keep them all involved. Too much variance in their skill set to ignore any of them. My current projection is 1500 combined yards and 8 TDs. Good season but nothing dramatic.

Ryan Moats out for several weeks.....

Like it matters. Reno Mahe is going to win the job outright.

Two guys want to trade teams completely

This is all academic. They could do it one deal at a time over the course of a week and you would be ethically powerless to stop it. Just let them do it. It seems stupid and lazy to me (I would try to build a better team myself) but it's not 'wrong' or even against the rules.

How much do you care about what kicker you get?

Read Mike Davis' article on this site. He's absolutely right...you do best picking up a new kicker every week to match up the best on a given Sunday.

    Wildman's Wednesday Sessions

Depending on when you have to decide, I would go with Jackson. You've got a 'win now' kind of team...I wouldn't gamble too much.

My "big" sleeper pick of the year.

I'm not trying to nitpick....but what is your projection? It's easy to call him a sleeper but unless you quantify it you can say you're right unless he's a bust.

    Reggie Bush...downside?

Same as every other stud athlete...the worst case is drugs, crime, injury and incompetence or some combination thereof. As for his specific physical attributes I suppose his size could be an issue, injury-wise.

    Basic or IDP!

IDP takes much longer but it's worth it. Team Defences play too much into the matchups...I prefer to target the elite players....throw in the auction instead of the draft and you've got yourself a league.

Chuck Rodgers working out w/ 3rd team

I don't really see much risk in putting Rogers in as the #3 and I presume that's where Martz is going. Rogers has nowhere near the route running skills or intelligence required to perform in a 'hot read' oriented offence. That said, he needs to work those things out during live fire exercises so to speak. He has all the tangible qualities you need to succeed at WR so Detroit really has to give him some sort of shot to win a job now that he's finally healthy.

    Wildman's Wednesday Sessions

Obviously you will target a RB with the #6...hopefully one of the rookies. I would keep Horn and Jones. I don't rate Jones much higher than Williamson but think that ultiatmely he will be a more TD oriented player. Moreover he is in a position to make big strides with the departure of Jimmy Smith and the continuing emergence of Leftwich.

    Wayne vs Harrison?

I don't really see anyone in the Colts passing game (except for Manning) being a top 5 talent. The whole offence is built on the idea that there are too many guys to defend and Manning is smart enough to find the open man. Harrison is still going to be the number one guy insofar as the top corner on the other team will defend him. However, numbers wise I can see him and Wayne being very close...in the 1100 and 8 range. Stokely may or may not crack 1000 but I don't see him slipping below 750. If Dallas Clark and the running backs combine for another 800 yards receiving and the other WRs and piece parts net say 400 that gets them up to 4150 - 4400 passing yards. Pretty close to what I expect. I just don't see the numbers being skewed to the point that any of the positions above lose enough touches to get Wayne another 400 yards or so.

This year's star rookies better than last year's?

I'd say we'll have a 1200 yard rusher out of this year's crop and probably a 900 yard rusher as well. Can't imagine much more than that so I"d call it a tie on year one talent. Taking the long view I would have to say that Reggie Bush the best prospect in either class, so I'm giving the edge to this year's. Even if Brown and Caddy are quite a bit better than Williams, Addai and Maroney, I think Bush will tip the scales.

    Help to interpret a rule

Bingo. If it happens on June 1st it has happened by June 1st. June 01 23:59 is still June 1st.

    TE Required Leagues...good or bad?

I prefer the TE requirement...adds another level of complexity to drafting...
  23. akareckas

    Carolina on my mind

I agree with B...it will soon be Williams' job. I think Foster has all the talent but he really is not a reliable player....if Fox wants a workhorse that he can rely on for a few years, he's going to have to look elsewhere...that's just what he did in the draft. The writing's on the wall. This might be a 'transition' year, but i"m thinking barring injury Williams is the feature by the end of this season and enters next year in a similar position as Caddy this year (fantasy wise).

    Draft Position Theory... What's yours?

It all depends on the year. ... This year for example, I want to be in the top 3 for LJ, LT, SA. Having one if the elite stud backs is always my preferred approach. The rest of the team can fall into place with solid predraft preparation.
  25. akareckas

why does everyone use 1-12 12-1 draft

Yours is no good. The team iwth the first pick gets 1 and 14....way too good on that team.
