I can't fathom any way this happens...he's going to go on PUP.

I'm in one each of redraft, keeper, and auction/IDP/Dynasty. I would like to say I'll give up the redraft so I don't root against myself....but every year I want to have a crack at the top player....so I have to start one league from scratch.

I don't consider this close...It's the tailback. Manning is definitely the stud at the QB position, but I would much rather have the known quantity at RB then spend 3 weeks figuring out the RBBC situations...... Given the multitude of RB questions this year, I believe that fielding a backfield of players that get carries every week will be the biggest FF challenge this season.

I look for someone who needs a player due to injury or loss of a starting job and try to fill that need while they are panicking. It is by far the easiest way to get the better player in the deal.

...or a garage for my bathroom. Did I just blow your mind?!?

As a Bengals rookie wide receiver, Chris Henry graduated from a JV knucklehead in December, when he pleaded guilty to a marijuana charge, to the varsity in January. In Orlando, Henry emerged from a white limousine to pull a 9 mm Luger from his waistband and threaten a group of people with whom he'd been arguing the previous night. Allegedly. When police asked Henry to put down the gun, he walked a few steps to the limo and tossed the weapon inside. He perpetrated this lunacy while wearing his Bengals jersey. He's lucky the cops didn't shoot him. -- Cincinnati Enquirer

#1 overall rookie dynasty pick for #4 & #7 overall rookie

I could see this panning out if you get a chance at Adrian Peterson... -
Depends on the people in the league. For my money the auction IDP league is the cadillac. Now that I"m in an auction pool I believe it to be vastly superior to the draft. I won't go through the litany of reasons but suffice to say that you have a greater degree of control when assembling your team, and with multi year contracts the trading elemetn takes on a new levle of complexity.

Don't be so sure. Pottery Barn probably has a catalogue on line.

I'll take both until I get a computer in the bathroom.

Why is Fantasy Football So Much Better Than Baseball?
akareckas replied to Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka's topic in FFToday Board
Beyond having a good weekly lineup system, football is also a better fit for head to head leagues. This inspires the trash talk and competitive spirit that gets leagues off the ground in the first few years. -
I wouldn't even put Addai on the list until we are in training camp and know a little about his production. Also, I wouldn't really change my rankigns too much based on the fact that it's a keeper...really you want to win a keeper in the first year and play for free for a while afterwards....

TO is certainly a TD machine at WR, and historically so is Randy Moss. Personally I wouldn't go this route unless I were drafting very late though...you don't want to miss out on the backs altogether. WIth the number of question marks and committee situations in backfields right now, participants in early drafts would do well to nab at least one unquestioned starter in a good fantasy situation.
-
I agree. I think WRs can be productive well into their 30s and there are a myriad of players to bear this out. Holt is an especially good candidate in that he's developing his route running and his hands are getting better every year. Bottom line: He's not just a burner/leaper who's going to fall apart when his skills deteriorate. In a dynasty league I would draft Holt near the top of all WRs and forget about succession planning for a couple of years at least. I think he'll be productive til he's 34-36 years old.

This format is very interesting but one thing does not change: RB Rules the roost. I would try despreately to get one of either KC or SD and trot out Tomlinson and Gates or LJ and Gonzo every week. Naturally Rivers and Green would be nothing more than backups... From there you want a team with Wideouts and a QB so pairing that team with either the Rams, Cards or Bengals would be ideal. From a balanced perspective I would think the Giants and Seahawks would have to be near the top.

Honestly I think AJ Hawk is a slam dunk to be the best rookie taking. WIth all due respect to Sims, I think Hawk will likely become a leader on the D and play during some nickel situations giving him the exposure to get plenty of reps...and recognition. Another thought: Denver LBs always get credit for tons of tackles.....more on average than other teams. Keep that one in your back pocket.

#1 overall rookie dynasty pick for #4 & #7 overall rookie
akareckas replied to jiujitsugod71's topic in FFToday Board
There seems to be a groundswell of support for passing on Bush...but I totally disagree. With these rookie picks I tend to factor in upside more than immediate production unless there is a 'guarantee' of a large number of carries. I don't really see any of the next 4 backs (Maroney, Williams, Addai and WHite) having a 90-95% shot at 20 or so carries per game. On the other hand, if Bush breaks out the way many expect him to, he could be a top 5 fantasy force right away. I would gamble on the potential stud. ****THAT SAID...if you could somehow get 2 of the next 4 backs (which you won't get with the 7 pick) it would probably be worth it. -
ok, need a conflict settled, I hope you guys can

In my league we classify rookies as those who enter the NFL Rookie Draft....everybody else is a free agent or under contract. Mind you we do our rookie draft a week or two after the NFL draft so it's pretty rare that an interesting player shows up on the radar as a rookie free agent. I think what you need to do is clarify the 'draft universe' for your rookie draft....if you didn't specify ahead of time and someone wants to draft this guy, then you should let him this year...it's a loophole to close for next season. -
Who the hell is Peyton Manning

I am the commish of a 10 team auction IDP league. We are looking to expand but you would be starting your team from scratch. The auction will be relatively thin at tailback but strong at many other positions. It's 10 players from Toronto and Ottawa and it's $75/team. At least 4 owners are active on this board. If you (or anyone else) is interested hit me with an email at akareckas@hotmail.com

I was actually referring to them being down 38-6 against the Colts and not wanting to push DD over the 20 carry mark.
-
In answering this question I was assuming S Moss was the highest WR still available on my board. I agree that he could drop down quite a bit in his production this year, but if you consider someone else on your board more valuable than him the question stops making sense. Obviously you would then debate that WR vs Gonzo.
-
Actually it's not that hard to incorporate your keepers.... Just suspend keepers after this year. Play out this year as is, and add draft picks to the list of things that can be traded (meaning rookie draft picks)...then do your auction next year. Or if you are married to your 3 year rule, just say that it's 3 years from now, with no additional keepers being declared then go auction after that. For my money I'd just scrap the league and start over if everyone's into an auction though. It's WAY better.
-
I agree with this wholeheartedly. I like my TE in a few picks better...as there are a few good ones and only 12 starters. If I'm drafting 10th, only 2 TEs go whereas one guy could easily take 2 WRs... I'm going Moss.
-
I agree with this one. If I am making 2 of the next (say) 6 picks it really becomes a question of which guy is most likely to slip...and if it's neither then which tier has another player in it...and if it's neither then which next tier has a better player. All things being equal (ie I'm indifferent to all of the above) then I will take Kevin Jones and hope for the 'boom'.
