Correct - once the other 11 teams lock in their keepers (Mar 12), you can look over the keeper sheet and pick up to 3 guys who are still available as additional or replacement keepers. Any player you take from the "leftovers" will come to you with the same round value and service years as listed in the sheet. You'll need to be careful if you overlap rounds when you do so - i.e. you can pick 2 new keepers with a 15th round value if you only have 1 pick in that round, but you'd also have to give up your 14th rounder to keep both.

You can have up to 6 total, but do not have to have 6, so don't feel obligated to declare 6 from your current team (or when using the perk) if you don't see value in doing so.

As I read this with "additional or replacement" he could keep 6 and then add 3 more from the scrap heap pile.  I am fine with that if that is what you mean but do you mean he can keep a total of 6 or a total of 9?

  2. Tentative list of who I am keeping.  I believe all of these are first year keepers.

    Dinelson Lamet 22

    Kyler Tucker 16

    Lance McCullers 17

    Michael Kopech 15

    Shohei Ohtani (SP) 18

    Luis Severino 18

Alternate in case of injury but lets be honest Haniger will foul a ball off his own nuts and be out for the year:

    Mitch Haniger 12

  3. Hopefully I’m reading my roster correctly this time. I am looking to trade away one of these guys. I am not sure if the rounds are right or not.

text or email me If you’re interested in any of these guys.

    Ohtani SP 18

    Haniger 12

    Kopech 15

    Kyle Tucker 16

    McCullers 17

    Severino 18

    Lamet 22

  4. Understandable.

Are we keeping off of 2020 end of season rosters but not counting 2020 as a keeper season and not adding 3 rounds to their draft position?  For example I am keeping Dinelson Lamet.  I drafted him in 2019 at 25.09.  I still have him on my end of season 2020 roster.  I can keep him for 3 years going forward and pay my 22nd round pick for him?

  5. I was thinking that we would give the new guy something like a supplemental 5th round pick and maybe all operate in good faith to try to give him some better keepers.  That roster is...ugly. Also no issue with the giving him 1st pick in the draft slot selection but I don't think that is a huge benefit tbh.

  6. Howdy everybody.  I have a lot of keepers and with us keeping 6 I figure there will be some folks looking for more keepers.

I hope I didn't do this list wrong but here is who I see that I have that has some keeper value and what round they can be kept this year:

    Ohtani SP 19

    Kopech  16

    McCullers 18

Severino (can we keep guys in the 4th?)

    Darvish 5th

    Wacha 18

    Justus Sheffield 26

    Dinelson Lamet 22

    Berrios 20

I have some other hitters but they don't seem that great.  I am looking for either a single better keeper for multiple guys or draft picks.

How is the draft order going to be set?  Are we going to use the dice roll method (like what is used every year in the Homers league) and the highest roll get the #1 pick?  Not the pick to make where they want to draft, the actual #1 pick...  Since last year was a fustercluck and not everyone participated in the brackets last year...

I believe we were using 2019 end results for everything including 2021 draft order.

  8. Posty, not trying to put words in your mouth but for me, Manfred and the Asterisks and now Mather are really making me angry at baseball.  Anywho, I am totally in but Posty I get your "heart not being in it" sentiment.

I just reached out to my buddy, he is in.  How do I loop him in?  *edit* I did tell my friend that he would be taking over the league champion team so he would have a solid roster.*end edit*

For the keepers I have quite a stable of young controllable talent.  Anybody interested in any of:

Kyle Tucker, Yu Darvish, Jose Berrios, Dinelson Lamet, Justus Sheffield, Luis Severino, Lance McCullers, Michael Kopech, Ohtani (pitcher)?  I think y'all have my number if you want to text about any of these.  Just looking for draft picks.

NOTE - Yahoo has bumped IL slots from 5 max to 10. I have adjusted ours to 7 for now. You are now allowed to place two extra guys on IL if (when) needed.

I can't see how they can play this out. It's already gotten ridiculous. Too many games getting postponed and it looks like the Marlins are hopelessly lost in COVID hell.

I agree that this just won't work but with that said as long as we are trying it seems like bumping up to 10 DL spots would make sense.  Now the cards have an outbreak and it seems inevitable it will just continue.  Really no way to address the game postponements but that is making fielding full lineups really hard.  Being that I don't expect the season to work it seems like it doesn't matter but I would push up to 10 expecting more guys to go down.

2019 does not matter any longer except for players on your current roster with a K next to their name. Nothing else relating to 2019 matters.

If they have a K next to their name, you can keep them for the same exact same round value (and service years) as they had heading into this year's draft.

If a guy on your current roster does NOT have a K next to their name AND was drafted this season, you can keep them in 2021 using the league's standard keeper rules.

Undrafted players from this year's draft (or 2019) are not eligible for keepers. Drafted players from 2019 who are or were on the WW this season are not eligible as keepers.

    That makes sense.

Almost. The only clarification is that there are no restrictions for number of swap outs. If you want to swap out all 5 of your pre-draft 2020 keepers with drafted players from 2020, you can. It's not limited to one. Those new keepers would take up the slot +3 rounds ahead, though, where your existing 5 keepers would not.

So a player not kept in 2019--> 2020 would retain 2020 draft status for keepers?  Players drafted in 2019 but not drafted in 2020 would not be eligible to be kept?  The only players whose 2019 draft status would matter were players declared as keepers from 2019--> 2020?

Only the keepers you chose this year are eligible to be held again next year at the same value as this year. No other 2019 drafted players are eligible and are irrelevant for the 2021 draft.

You CAN choose an alternate player from your 2020 draft as a new keeper if you want to. Players drafted in 2020 incur the +3 round hit heading into the 2021 draft though. If this causes a round conflict, you'll have to deal with it as we always do with round conflicts. Get another pick in that round or incur a +4 round move for one of the players. This will not count as a service year for them (or existing keepers) though.

So we will all use the same keepers from 2019 we picked into 2020 but for 2021 but we can substitute out 1 guy from 2019 and replace them with a 2020 drafted player?  Am I reading that right?

I know its only for this year.

Based on conversations, I was under the impression that any player away from the team due to covid could be placed in an N/A spot.... basically I am saying that I expected covid impacted players to have an NA designation by yahoo... but it seems they have their own covid designation and it allows us to place them in an IL spot

We are all learning as we go but I think that guys who fully opt out of the season have the NA designation like Buster Posey.  I through dumb (un)luck have 3 of them with Posey, Kopech, and Hicks although oddly enough Hicks is not listed as NA, yet.

  14. Rule clarification question that I could see coming up.

John Smith (fake name) is drafted in the 30th round in 2019.  This would make him a 27th round keeper in 2021 with 3 years of service time left, right?

Would this change if John Smith is undrafted in 2020 or if he was not kept in 2019--> 2020 and then drafted again in say the 20th round.  Would this make him ineligible to be kept or a 17th round keeper?  I think we all agree if he was drafted in the 30th of 2019 and then kept in 27th in 2020 he would be a 27th round keeper again with 3 years left for 2021, right?

What if John Doe is not drafted in 2019 but then drafted in 2020 in the 25th round.  Is he ineligible to be kept since he wasn't drafted in 2019 or is he a 22nd round keeper?  Are there other hypothetical permutations that could arise?

Just trying to make sure we have various hypotheticals hammered out before an issue comes up.

  15. I am up to 3 Covid opt outs I am somewhat interesting in keeping with Posey, Hicks, and Kopech.  Guys will inevitably get it too during the season (if it happens).  It seems like having as many NA spots for covid only reasons seems to have little downside...It appears that you can't even put them on the IL so the IL spots don't really help for this specific reason but with California shutting down indoor activities I am becoming increasingly skeptical a season will actually happen...
