Kamala's always supported deporting people without legal claims. Just like Obama. I live at the border, it's not "open" by any means, but for sure the asylum claims are overwhelming our infrastructure. The system is broken for sure, which is why there was bipartisan agreement on much needed reforms 10 months ago. My assumption is that legislation, or a version of it, will be brought back to Congress if Kamala is elected.

Trump can take executive action to halt granting asylum to asylum seekers, and he can support legislative efforts to reform immigration. Of course he blocked reforms that his own party negotiated and supported a year ago. But no, Trump can't just declare legal refugees "illegal" if they have already been granted legal status.
