Why don't I have non school choice (as someone who doesn't have kids) but is paying property taxes to fund them anyways? I don't want my money to going to anyone's kids (but I especially don't want my money going to private/religious schools) but I can't opt out either way... we all just have to pay for things we don't want and if we want something special we have to pony up for ourselves.

I hear you! Some of them were literally just plug and play. But some they had to splice and rewire for the LED's to plug in. They were these super obscure "wet area" bulbs that we're awful and I wasn't trying to redo like 20 of them by myself anyways.

Haha no it was rewiring the sockets (in the "wet areas") for the entire house from these weird ass wattage bulbs (the people who lived there before me chose them) to permanent LED's low power bulbs. If it was just swapping bulbs i got that haha

I'm not very liberal, I just have enough money to pay someone who is a expert to do it for me. But I also aint afraid to help.

I recently replaced all the lights in my house to LED's.. the best quote i got was $140 a hour because he was so busy and he could "squeeze me in". I had him show me and hopped on the ladder and did a few myself to save on hours haha. For sure kids these days should skip college and learn a trade. Money to be made there. My dad was a Pipe Fitter.

Thanks~ yeah large scale projects have slowed because they are just too expensive (unless they are building luxury housing they can sell at a premium) . But finding someone to just replace your lights or renovate a room, those guys are charging a arm and leg because kids don't go into the trades anymore so they are IN DEMAND.

I don't know where you live, but here in California finding a contractor who isn't busy is impossible unless you wanna pay a 2X premium.

A big problem is Contractors are so busy, they don't want to build "low income housing" they only want to build "luxury housing" so no one will take on the jobs without being paid a huge premium and tax payers dont want to pay for that.

No, most of them aren't "for sale", they are "for lease" but the rents are insane. The owners because of Prop 13 pay such low property taxes because they have owned them 30/40 years they just sit on them and wait for a tenant stupid enough to pay them what they want.
