Trump tariffs resulted in a loss of over 200,000 jobs during his first term. Hurt lots of Americans. His new proposed tariffs will be even more harmful. He's not going to do it he's smarter than that. It is a good political ploy that plays well with his base and independents. I'm not worried about it actually happening.

I believe there was a sense of "It's not going to get violent. they would never assault police and break into the capitol" and that if it were to turn violent the President would be able to de-escalate and wouldn't allow an assault on the Capitol on his watch. What we learned is that they were riled up and told to fight like hell or they wouldn't have a country and were capable of much more than thought. We also learned that Trump watched this happen... let it happen... wanted it to happen and did nothing about until it was clear that it wasn't going to work before calling off the dogs. So I agree with you now that we know that these people and their leader are extremely violent we will deploy the military to protect our democracy if needed. It's a shame we have to do this to our own people but it's where we are.

It really does come down to this. Life was better 2017-2019, so I'll take the guy in charge during that time again. Nothing else matters.
