  1. I've been to tons of websites that have Mock Draft Simulators, but has anyone ever found one that allows you to enter keepers in a mock draft simulation. In essence, you would just be mocking vs. the CPU but you would be able to enter each team's keepers, to give you a better idea of how your draft will play out. I've been doing this on paper for all these years and am kind of surprised that no one has ever wrote the script for this.

  2. Hi Steve. Thanks, and glad to have you back. Hard to say what happened with the file. I always get a little leery that the file is truly recovered properly if/when Excel crashes on me. Do you still have your copy of Projection Pal with the ESPN projections? If so, then you shouldn't have to copy/paste them again at all. Just use Pal and hit the Copy to Compiler button on each Raw tab to move them over to the Compiler. It will line them up with the right players just like it did the first time. So back to your original question, yes, I would probably just download again. Try to not overwrite your existing copy for the time being, so you can import the rules and scoring from it.

Thanks Mike, I will do such. To be honest, I never even tried the Projection Pal. I usually just type in my projections by hand. Maybe this will be the year I try the Projection Pal

  3. Hey Mike,

Long time user of the CC/DB...great job as always, I have a quick question. I was in the process of updating my Cheatsheet last night and I got an error on my excel and had to shut it down after it froze up. I opened up a recovered version of the file, but the only issue was that the "Offense" cheatsheet didn't have the Kept Players in the lighter color and italicized like it usually did, they're just showing up as if they're available to be drafted. The weird thing is on the "Overall" sheet it has the kept players like they should be (lighter color and italicized).

I'm guessing the file got corrupted somehow. Do you suggest just redownloading the file from scratch? The only sucky part is that I input ESPN's projections a couple days ago and I don't want to have to do that again... hopefully I can just copy/paste the ESPN projections and the players are in the same order on the QB/Rb/WR/TE, etc sheets.

    Thanks,

    Steve Scalesse

  4. Unfortunately no dice on what I was trying. Here is the summary:

    1. If you had Draft Buddy setup for your league, then I think it is possible to manage through a draft with it but you cannot use the Draft Player buttons. The only way to pick a player would be the drop-downs on the draft input tab - which are a little annoying to have to use them constantly. (Although interestingly enough, this was the only way to do it in the very early years of Draft Buddy's existence.)

    2. I looked at AppleScript programming to re-create the Visual Basic macros for Mac Office 2008, but the problem is AppleScript cannot be triggered from inside the spreadsheet file. From what I can tell, it would be extremely cumbersome to use an AppleScript to perform something like Draft Player, especially over and over again through a draft.

    3. I looked at OpenOffice as an option, which would be a completely separate version of the Compiler and Buddy (and require people to install OO on their computers), but the Visual Basic is not supported, and the Basic programming for OO is difficult and I was not making good progress with that.

Sorry. Still banging my head against a wall about this issue after 2 years and now our 3rd season dealing with this. :wall:

Thank you again Mike. Option 1 should be doable.

  5. I didn't know your nickname is Skunk. After all these years we're still learning new things about each other.

There are macros in Draft Buddy too. First off, the Setup Draft Buddy macro that pulls the stuff from the Compiler. You could potentially do that on your PC too.

But, the draft player buttons in Buddy also involve a macro which copies the player you want to draft from the cheatsheets over to the draft input tab.

I'm going to go try something and I'll report back.

Ok, Thanks Mike, I appreciate it.

  6. Hey Mike,

This is my 8th year purchasing the CC/DB combo and as always you guys do a tremendous job. However, I have run into a dilemma this year. My pc laptop from college has finally crapped out, and I've been persuaded by several friends/family members to make the switch to Mac, so I'm in the market for a macbook. I already have a license for office 2008, and from what I've heard/read, office 2008 on macs don't support macros in the Visual Basic Editor pc format. Obviously, I understand that I won't be able to compile cheatsheets on the mac because that uses a macro. However, I still have a pc desktop, so I can run my final cheatsheet on there and basically use my macbook to "read" the cheatsheets only. The question I have is with the Draft Buddy. Will I be able to run the Draft Buddy and make all of the picks during my draft using my macbook? Or do I need macros enabled to do all that stuff on the Draft Buddy?

    Thanks for your time,

    Steve "Skunk" Scalesse

  7. Try having both files open at the same time - the Compiler and Draft Buddy. Open the Compiler, then from Excel, choose File > Open and open Draft Buddy. Hit Setup. Does that make a difference? If that worked, then save Draft Buddy and close the Compiler.

Thanks Mike! Good to go now!

  8. Everytime I click Setup Draft Buddy, the file is freezing up and not responding and I have to shut it down. I double-checked the Cheatsheet Compiler Filename, which matches. The "Allow copy/paste" is set as Off. Macros have been Enabled. The Draft Buddy and Cheatsheet Compiler are in the same directory. I'm not sure why I can't Setup the Draft Buddy. Please help!

  9. What you could do is import some projections into Site B, and then move them over into one of the historic stats sections. You could fit in an additional 4 sites for projections. Of course you lose the historic stats, but keep a duplicate copy of the Compiler for those if needed.

No plans to expand and the reason why is because the formulas get a lot more complicated and I'm going to run out of columns to put the data.

Ok, i'll do that. Thanks Mike! P.S. Houshmanzadeh or Jones-Drew at the #4 Pick in my keeper league draft? (My keepers are Palmer, Maroney and R.Wayne)

  10. Is there currently any way or will there be in the future a way to put in more than External Sites B and C into the compiler. I just say this because I like to put in a bunch of magazines and websites projections and average them all out. Lemme know what you think.
