Illegal Immigration and the Impact on National Home Prices
jonnyutah replied to TimHauck's topic in The Geek Club
It was a simple question. Strangely you arent smart enough to answer such a simple question. -
Same with sex trafficking. In the US at least. These are mostly just terms used to excuse bad behavior and pretend that women have no agency.

Nah, that was a true story. I just got the car wrong.

Literally posted a link that said Chicago lost about 900k people. Pretend those 900k people didnt get replaced. What happens to housing costs? If you cant admit that housing costs would go way down, then you are just the hackiest of partisan hacks. -
Did that happen in the US?
-
Ooops. My bad. It was a BMW.

I dont really know the details of the trafficking thing involving him. I was referring to the teachers aid in milwaukee that filed like 7 different appeals and after 11 years here filed a last ditch effort as a trafficking victim. Eta: she paid 4500 bones to be snuck across.
-
Women will be like oh look, a Porsche. We gonna steal that. And kill the owner. Then they will do it and be like but we was trafficked.
-
Immigrants will plead for asylum by saying they were victims of human trafficking. The problem though is they paid to be smuggled in. That isnt trafficking.

Illegal Immigration and the Impact on National Home Prices

Prices spiking in 2020 makes perfect sense. If people were fleeing cities to get SFHs, that would lead to home prices going up. Then there should be a slightly delayed decrease in rents in cities following that. But strangely enough we saw rent increases also really going strong in 2021. And then housing went bonkers. Now what could have happened that would cause this? Let me have the new york times tell you..."The immigration surge since 2021 has been the largest in U.S. history" -

Nah. The presentation of mass deportation put forward by the media is very unpopular. But if this administration stays the course, this is an easy long term win. People can be convinced that sending 12 murders and rapists to Sudan is a bad thing. You just have to leave out the murdering and raping and that their own country wont let us return them. They can be convinced that tomatoes will cost $8/lb even though labor is only .03/lb. So you could quadruple labor and barely make a dent. But when their state farm rep in colorado calls to tell them their illegal alien premium annual payment of 1000 dollars has been cut to 250, they will forget all that crap. When they dont have juanita and hector selling tamales right in front of their bar anymore. When they break their ankle and go to the emergency room and dont have brown people everywhere. People will notice these things and smile ear to ear. -

I dont understand how you can argue demand for SFHs increased and then claim illegal immigrants have zero effect. Illegals mostly go to cities. People left cities. Without a replacement population cities would see housing price depression. The data you posted isnt just for illegals, but that distinction isnt really that important. An illegal and an asylee and TPS are not really much different for this discussion. The American immigration council uses housing as a selling point for bringing more immigrants. According to them immigrants add 3.7 trillion to US housing wealth. They say in Houston that immigrants add 25k in value to each home. Chicago has seen the US born population decline by almost 900k people since 1970. The foreign born population has expanded by almost that amount. blunting what could have been a catastrophic impact on the local housing market They sell it as a positive. But both things cant be true. They cant be a positive impact on housing wealth, but not cause any upward pressure. Pointing out that costs have gone up more in many areas where the immigrant population isnt as high, is a disingenuous talking point that assumes all markets are silos and there is zero spillover. -

In order to assume that deporting millions of people wouldnt cause home prices to go down we must first assume that real estate markets are fully stratified and that these stratifications never change. We must also assume that in big cities where people are willing to pay large sums of money in rent that this always correlates to a nice place and that nobody would ever consider selling these off or fixing them up and therefore high demand of the run down places have no capability of creating any upward pressure. Then we must also assume that there is zero NGO money or government money available for housing that could possibly create any upward pressure. -

If illegal labor was a large driver of keeping construction costs down why wouldnt construction costs have plummeted under Biden? -

The reason for this data is so obvious. All one needs to do is read the heartfelt news stories that come out over and over. Oh noes they arrested mi abuela she has been here for 20 years, cured 8 diseases, donated a kidney, and teaches blind kids how to identify electric cars. Then 16 paragraphs in you read about the valid deportation order that has existed for 9 years and been ignored. They are snatching these people because they are the easiest. They can grab them and send them because due process has been completed. There is nothing that the lying piece of crap attorneys can do about it since they have already tried 20 different things and failed. So buh bye. -

These lawyers would use a health code violation as an excuse for their illegal client to not be deported yet. Omg you cant deport people in the middle of legal precedings! This will make them hide from ICE and we want the legal process to play out! -
