Classic whataboutism. The question is who is MAGA lining up next. The thread is about Donny Boy seeking, with MAGA's approval, a third term. All MAGAs when confronted with this fact say: "he's not running again liberalz!". Ok. So who are you running next? Not who are the Democrats running next. Names. JD Vance? Marco Rubio? Who. Take your time.

This take is probably the case for the most part. The other parts of government and other power brokers in the city will probably try to run roughshod over this kid. He'll be fortunate if he's able to be effective at keeping things running, which is what New Yorkers actually care about.

It's funny that Mamdani already beat Cuomo in the primary, and Cuomo's response was "maybe if I run again I can totally win!!" Frankly it's a terrible group of candidates overall. I wouldn't vote for any of those clowns.

Joe shouldn't have ran again. But there is no "they", as in a group of deciders. Joe decided he could do it again. The incumbency is a big advantage, and he beat Don before. It was a reasonable strategy to run again. The people that work to get Dems elected had to work with that. Then the debate was a disaster, so dropping out was actually the better option. It was a cluster F, and the Dems lost. In 2028, the Dems need to stop trying to anoint a chosen few, let them all campaign and get a robust voting tallied. What's awesome from a debate tactic POV is that in the thread titled "Trump should have the option to serve 2 more terms as president if he wants it", a guy comes in with the biggest "whatabout Joe Biden" ever and then tells the other guy not to change the subject . That was top notch.

He already is. The answer isn’t “never rule out President Trump”. The answer is “he can’t run.” This guy is a traitor to America and the constitution. In the cult hierarchy, there is the leader and there are followers. Enablers like Tuberville are followers, but as an insider in the Mar-a-Lago circle, he actually genuinely benefits. In his case, at least the motivation is clear. The rally-goers are the gullible dupes. Their motivation is mostly to feel shared hatred towards the out-group, in this case “Liberalz!”, with immigrants and trans thrown in. They are also motivated by a need to feel like they’re accepted in the in-group, not unlike certain religions and other member based organizations.

Winning the presidential election is the way out. There is still 20-30% of a persuadable electorate. Democrats need to put up better candidates. They’re just as gullible or naive in many ways.

I mostly agree with this, and I believe in 2018 that was probably the correct approach. The problem became, and is, that MAGA has now tripled down on their support for Trump. The right-wing echo chamber worked on these people. They are way too far gone to listen to a POV like this. The time now requires speaking their language. It's the only thing they might understand.

Not all cult followers lack intelligence. Mostly these are average people. But they have been indoctrinated, and are too far invested to realize it or to turn back. This is why it's important to never worship another person, especially when it comes to politics/government. It's literally dangerous, and has cost our country many of it's constitutional principles. And who benefits? The wealthiest top 0.1%. Not the rally-goers. MAGA: You literally support one man over your country. Stop already.
