    Dwayne Bowe

I'm from Minnesota, dude. Haha, it's my fault for having the only text on here, "Yes he is." Here's some meat for you. "1. Dwayne Bowe, WR, L.S.U.- Put on a show and will go ahead of some more highly-touted underclassmen." - Scot Wright, NFL Draft Countdown. -most importantly was at the Senior Bowl. http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/features/...orts/stock.html http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sub/mockdraft.html In the Mock Draft section, he is specificly described as "a big, physical receiver." And I'm not sure how big you need your "big receivers" to be, but Bowe is 6'3" 217 (and still coming out of college and yet to lift, eat, train, and supplement like real NFL WRs). And as for speed, countless WRs including Jerry Rice, Cris Carter, Anquan Boldin, etc have proven speed isn't everything. "Bowe finished his career as the school record holder for touchdown passes with 25, and also ranks fifth in school history in both catches with 149 and receiving yards with 2,325." Also had to share with Early Doucet and Craig Davis, 2 talented WRs. -Seniorbowl.com http://www.seniorbowl.com/2007/news/2007sugarbowl.htm "• Dwayne Bowe/WR/LSU: The Tigers' big possession wide out has caught everything thrown his way during the first two practices. Bowe has shown soft, natural hands yet at the same time a mean streak when he must battle for the reception." -SI.com Tony Pauline at the Senior Bowl http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/foot...bowl/index.html Also, JaMarcus Russell is/would be the probably #1 pick based on his arm strength and size, not neccessarily his skill in college. Russell was highly-touted and is good, but my point is, they had talent on that offense! Ginn is a speed guy, and Troy Williamson showed how well that worked. If Ginn can drastically improve his other facets of the game, then he might develop better than Williamson. Jarrett is good, but just because he has great college stats in a pro-style pass happy offense with a 2007-8 Hesiman candidate at QB, and several other NFL quality stars around him....that doesn't mean Dwayne Bowe will not be better than him. As for being a homer...sometimes I am guilty of this, but Louisiana is not and has never been my home. HTH dude. Let me know if you wanna join my league.

    D. Carr or B. Quinn?

3rd rounder for an untapped talent in David Carr? or 1st round money and huge risk factor in Brady Quinn? D. Carr for me please. Quinn has never shown he can win an important pressure game. He didn't seem to make his receivers better like Russell seemed to do. He relied heavily on Szjsjsjszjjjzjsssszzzzmarjia. Get D. Carr an O-line and a running game, and watch out. (I guess the problem is...Detroit and or Cleveland doesn't have these either.)

    D. Carr or B. Quinn?

agreed. Carr was the #1 pick in the draft and it is my opinion that he has the skills to be a good NFL starter. And for everyone who thinks they are clever for correctly predicting that Detroit won't take a QB, good job. Martz and Maranelli have already said they won't take a QB. (smokescreen? no. why wouldn't you say, "we loooove the QBs" to drive their value up, thus making your pick more valuable to other teams interested in trading?) I just meant IN GENERAL would you trade for Carr or draft Quinn.

Will the Texans make any progress in 2007?

It's Demeco Ryans. But yea, he was pretty solid last year. The Texans are proof that winning teams are built with the fat guys in the trenches.

draft talk: some early light on the #2 pick

This is the worst post ever. Yea, yea we get it. Matt Millen shouldn't have a job. But he does. and this WOULD be the smart decision even though it would be a new idea for the Lions. To post based on a word used in a particular thread makes me want you to die. 2ndly, why the ###### would you trade down to get Calvin. He's the top prospect in many people's eyes, and if you wanted him you wouldn't trade down more than a spot. 3rd, calvin IS better than Rogers and Williams...mark it down. I have no statistical proof but he just is. I will wager that fact. 4th comparing a dinner date with the Lions and Thomas a ###### fat lineman, to the debocile of Mike Williams is a tired subject. You think you are clever for coming up with these connections, but really you should just go jump into an airplane turbine. Thanks.

Browns Fans, I need your input!

wow...the fact that you thought this post warranted a laughy face actually angers me a little.

    Vick to the Raiders

Vick is not a franchise QB. Moss and Porter are not anything special anymore anyway. If Moss were the same domiant force he once was, he would have had FAR better numbers than he did this year, even with Brooks and Walter passing to him. Remember in MN, he made stars out of Cunningham, JEFF GEORGE post mullet, and Daunte. He made guys in spot duty like Spergeon Wynn, Todd Bouman, and even Brad Johnson in his first stint with the Vikes look great at times. I understand the train-wreck that is the Raiders, but Moss had been on some bad Vikings' teams as well, and he always managed great numbers no matter who was around him on offense. Getting the #1 overall pick for Vick by himself is ridiculos. Vick was the #1 pick!!! He didn't pan out as a true franchise QB, so you get rid of him, his huge ass contract..AND YOU GET THAT #1 PICK BACK!!???? WTF!!???? Falcons are committing robbery.

I'm in a keeper league and we draft rookies. I need a tight end and I'm wondering if i need to trade for one or if one of the incoming rookies has the talent to be a Heap, Gates, or Davis type guy? Greg Olson Miami Matt Speath Minnesota Zach Miller ASU? Others?

Article on Offensive Skill Position Vets...

I wouldn't be so sure these backs will automatically latch onto a different team in a starting role. The market-desire for RBs is never very high. Remember when EJ and Shaun were first on the market a few years back, and no one would give up an early draft pick for established stars. Teams will draft RBs and pick them up off FA, not trade for them.

    Jerrius Norwood

i think it is a legit weakness. sure justin griffith can be a short yardage guy or goalline or whatever. But Atlanta doesn't have that guy who can pound the ball in order to help protect a lead. Someone like McAllister does for the Saints. Cap does make things tight, but I think they draft a RB later. I never said they'd draft a runner round 1.
  13. scherber830

    Jerrius Norwood

theyll probly draft a bruiser or at least a sturdier back to groom as th eventual everydown back. Dunn will start the season as the starter and Norwood will fill in as needed. They never outright bench the oldtimer in these situations...they let the play on the field dictate who plays.

The Patriots will beat the Colts

Incorrect. I see the Colts finally making the jump to the big game. Any talk that Peyton Manning somehow wired to fail in the "big game" is far overblown by people like us. The Colts have shown they can run and play some defense. Probably a tougher test with Brady, but on the carpet, I like 6'5" 230 pound quarterbacks, laser...rocket arm. Manning will get there.

    When MANNING beats BRADY

Years from now, Brady and Manning will be the 2 QBs who transcend this era/decade whatever. Manning will avoid that "Dan Marino" stigma if he wins the big one.

    Chargers have NO SHOT Sunday

yup martys got to walk that fine line: you gotta feed lt the rock, but if he doesnt have success hell be have to be constantly reminded of that martyball label.

    Chargers have NO SHOT Sunday

playoff keys: be able to consistently run and consistently stop the run. CHargers yes Pats maybe LT and the SD run game is clearly superior to the dillon/moroney combo Defenses are comparable. Not saying SD will kill or anything, but they WONT be killed and they have a great shot. HTH
  18. Allow me to put to rest the assinine belief that you need to post useless threads.

Mike Bush and now Adrian Peterson will declare as well

Talking about which of these backs will be the best pro is meaningless until we know what team they are on. We have no idea what situation each of these backs will find themselves in. I bet at this time no one had Maurice Jones-Drew or Marques Colston in their "top 12"

Play Michael Vick AND Matt Schaub?

At first glance, this sounds kind of stupid and like so many other cockamamee ideas that football rubes throw out there. But it's fun to think of the possibilities. If I were in charge of the Falcons I would use more imaginative ways to get Vick the ball in space. It is clear that Vick will only be decent as an NFL passer. After 6 straight seasons of mediocre passing, it's hard to imagine him ever becoming the 4,000 yard/30TD pass QB. That doesn't deminish, however, the incredible athleticism and speed that he has. Matt Schaub on the other hand has shown brief flashes of that prototypical pocket presence that Vick lacks. I remember that game he had against the Patriots in 2005, IMO he had great poise in the pocket and was definately an authoritative presence as a passer back there. With such a high asking price for him, Atlanta might be forced to keep him. My proposal is that the Falcons would "start" Schaub as the quarterback, but also have Vick on the field almost as often as the Saints have Bush on the field. Schaub would hopefully be able to handle the quarterback position, while Vick would provide that Bush-type player for the Falcons PLUS the ability to throw with above-average success. Think about it: teams have had Randle El/Kordell Stewart types who can run a little and add the gimmicky pass ability on select plays. Other teams, most noteworthy the Saints, who have BUsh-type players who are electric runners with dazzling moves and speed and are a real force out of the backfield as a receiver. The Falcons could use Vick as BOTH of those roles. Vick would not take any more hits that he already does and he has proven he can be a 1,000 yard back. Bottom line: I think the Flacons would have one of the most upstoppable offenses ever if they were a little more creative with Vick and the offense. With such a valuable QB asset in Schaub I don't know what good it does to sit him on the bench. And I realize possible arguments to this. Vick and Schaub on the field poses a great injury risk to the top 2 QBs on the field. Thinking of Vick as any kind of threat as a receiver could be wishful thinking, but remember athleticism is a huge key in being a good WR and Vick certainly has that. JUST THINK!!! whenever teams gameplan for VIck...they would have to worry about him as a runner, a thrower, and a receiver. He would also be the most effective decoy in the game. Norwood, Dunn, and the receivers would all benefit IMO. DISCUSS

Play Michael Vick AND Matt Schaub?

I didn't mean they'd make Vick into a 20 carry back by any means. And I know other teams have tinkered with this, but I'm talking about using Vick in many different ways. He's a playmaker with the ball, why not give it to him in spaces where he can run.

Why do people ask stupid questions?
