I voted 'yay'. The NFL Network's first game went smoothly and was great. The game looked and sounded smooth. There weren't any glitches. Most importantly it was football! Gumble did pretty good. He's a 'by the book' play-by-play guy similar to Al Michaels. Collinsworth is annoying (the tone of his voice and what he says). Gumble and Collinsworth need a third person (maybe a former coach or player). I won't catch much of the Thursday night games since I watch another show at 8 (Saturday is a different story I've got Comcast as my cable provider. They were horrible for several years. My opinion has changed dramatically since they've offered digital cable.

For a guy that's 230lbs, he's got quickness and some moves I'm happy I started him last night...

I'm one of those guys that started Romo and Glenn. Not only did those guys put up 7 tds between them, I also have the starting rb from the Chiefs (157yds and a td). I'm obliterating my opponent 85-0 I don't understand how you can start Vick over Romo. Over the last three games Vick has been struggling (4 fumbles and 2 ints) yet Romo has been lighting it up (7tds and 800+yds passing)...

You made the correct decision since you created a rule for the specific situation that occurred. You would be in the wrong if you had changed his line up without this rule or a warning. Below is a similar situation I had to contend with: Two weeks ago one owner in my league hadn't changed his line up in several weeks (at least four consecutive). He started S.Alexander (status: 'out') along with players on byes. I emailed the entire league notifying them that if this owner did not change his line up that I would take over his team. The owner didn't change his line up. I set his line up last week. I didn't have any complaints from other owners. I told two owners' in person that I wouldn't allow myself to use the waiver wire or to offer/accept trades. The only thing I would've changed was that I would have sent out an email telling all of the owners' this information.

Top 5 teams in the NFL at the halfwaypoint, SB pick
believe_in_gibbs replied to TheEaglesFan's topic in FFToday Board
1. Colts-offense is sick: Manning, Harrison, Wayne, Addai/beat Broncos and Pats on the road 2. Bears-Grossman is accurate and normally efficient/Jones and Benson are a nasty one-two punch/best defense in the business 3. Broncos-defense #1 in scoring/two quality rbs with a dominant 'o' line 4. Pats-experience and coaching along with a rookie rb that improves every week 5. Giants-offense is loaded from top to bottom/defense is erratic but good enough most weeks AFC - Colts beat Pats (thanks to home field advantage) NFC - Bears over Giants SB Colts narrowly over the Bears -
Note to ESPN: I just want to watch football
believe_in_gibbs replied to mambokings's topic in FFToday Board
Reasons I'm done with MNF on ESPN: - Creative cameras and angles = aggravation - Too many guests - Wasted time on stadium stats and fans (and this week the weather--how many times can you moan about the rain ) - Theisman and Kornheiser together are as annoying as Dennis Miller The crew of Theisman, Tirico, and Kornheiser lack chemistry. Unfortunately for us football fans, I doubt it will develop for next year. I'm just happy that a thought provoking show on NBC runs from 9-10 -
Campbell got some snaps this week. On a local tv station Gibbs stated that "Brunell is the Redskins starter for now." It will be interesting to see what transpires should Brunell falter vs the Cowboys today (which is about as close to a 'lock' as possible).

Chris Cooley and the pathetic Skins are on a bye this week. Who do I snag for a fill-in? There aren't many names out there: Alex Smith vs Giants Owen Daniels vs Titans Eric Johnson vs Bears Thanks a bunch

2 posts?! Is that it? C'mon guys...

Your line up looks sound (don't switch Johnson for Martin--Johnson will get his with Boldin getting the attention). Gore vs the Bears is a difficult match up. How does the wire look today? Thanks for answering mine.

Putting it to a poll -- who do I sit?
believe_in_gibbs replied to the_whipping_boy's topic in A Little Help!
Here's who I voted for: Brady - without a running game he will put up medicore stats (not awful though) Berrian - as mentioned before, he could blow up; the other two have better match ups Jones-Drew - the Eagles are middle of the pack vs the run (16), but Trotter and Dawkins will crowd the line (for what it's worth, I'm benching him) See Mine -
WDIS: Chester Taylor (vs NE) or Frank Gore (@CHI)?
believe_in_gibbs replied to merchasd's topic in A Little Help!
Everyone knows that the Bears are ranked #1 in total defense. To add to that Gore faces a Bears defense that has allowed one rushing td all season. Taylor is carrying momentum from his team record run of 95 yds last week. The Pats are tough vs the run at #6 though. The key is that the Vikings are committed to the run so Taylor will get his opportunities (25+ carries). See Mine -
LJ vs the Chargers; Dunn vs the Steelers - brutal match ups!! LJ has had (16 and 15 carries in his last two games). I don't look for this to change. 'Lights out' and company are just two quick and physical for him. The Steelers only allowed 26yds for LJ. Dunn should do better considering he will get many more opportunities. I wouldn't be surprised to see Vick and Co. get back to the option (which would benefit Dunn). Jones is the only easy decision here. He's got a cake walk match up vs the Texans. Good luck! See Mine

I think your qb decision is easy: start the guy with a completion percentage of 52.9 or the guy that threw two tds in the first quarter of his first two starts (not to mention he looked like a veteran vs the vaunted Bears defense) - Leinart. Cadillac and Maroney are talented rbs. What separates them is that Cadillac is the undisputed #1 rb. Start him with confidence. See Mine

I've got many question marks this weekend. QB-Pennington or Leinart? Pennington should approach 300yds passing vs the porus Lions secondary. Leinart could put up similar numbers since they can't and won't run in Arizona (the guy has unbelievable poise). At my flex position I've got too many options (even with injuries!): S.Moss, D.Jackson, Evans, and M.Drew. Who do I go with? S.Moss and S.Jackson are rated back to back on several ff sites. While I doubt Brunell, Moss is a game breaker. Jackson should get a few more looks with Engram hurt. By the same token, Branch has been stealing some catches from Jackson. Evans has had 32 catches in his last four games (granted he's only broke the goal line once). M.Drew has shown flashes of brilliance (49 fantasy pts in his last three games). Do I flip a coin Thanks a ton in advance. Check my sig

I'm loaded at wr: S.Smith, S.Moss, Fitzgerald, D.Jackson, and Evans (keep in mind I drafted this team at Mock Central on Espn After hitting my regular ff sites, I've come to the conclusion that I'm clueless who to start. Evans and Jackson have been rated very high. I just can't ignore the two best rac wrs in the NFL (Moss and Smith). They all have favorable match ups (except Smith). Who on earth do I start? I plan on trying to put together a trade with at least one of these guys for a quality qb in the coming days.

I like Welker because of his threat as a wr and kr. Thanks for answering mine.

Which Drew - Brees v. PHI or Blesoe v. HOU?
believe_in_gibbs replied to JohnnyBravo17's topic in A Little Help!
I buy into everything you stated above, except your first thought. The Cowboys will be forced to throw the football for at least the first half because the Texans will get some big plays from their stud wr A.Johnson. Bledose will throw the ball early and often without much pressure. Witten and TO should get on track. From what I've read, the consensus is that Bledose will throw for 250-300 yds with at least 2 tds. I'd be shocked if the Cowboys don't score five tds. See Mine -
Evans and Losman have developed chemistry. Over the last three games Evans has amassed 24 rec for 291 yds. His least output in those games: 7 rec for 90 yds (9pts in most leagues--solid). Sure, it would be great if he could reach the stripe more often (we can't have everything ). Another reason to start Evans is his match up. His Bills are facing the Lions which have the 30th ranked pass 'd'. It's a good week to be an Evans owner See Mine

Most of the ff sites have Gore listed as 'sit' or ranked very low. The Chargers 'd' is running on all cylinders. With that said, Gore has too much ability to sit. Besides his elusiveness, his hands are an important part of his game (and the 49ers for that matter). Will Gore put up 20 pts this week? I doubt it. But, he should put up some nice yardage totals between rushing and receiving (80-120 total yds). I'm starting him this week. See Mine

Thoughts on Gore's performance this week?
believe_in_gibbs replied to McPhreak's topic in FFToday Board
Gore should put up respectable but not great numbers this weekend (80-100 total yds; 1 td). I'm forced to start him in one of my leagues with LJ already on the bye Go with another option if you've got one. Pros: Gore catches the ball just about as good as LT out of the backfield (this is how he could attain the bulk of his yards); the Eagles lost one of their best defensive linemen in Kearse for the year. Cons: the Eagles are small but fast on the defensive side of the ball; the Eagles will bring passion to this game with the come back loss vs the Giants in the back of their minds'. -
Most rushing yards in the entire NFL end of week 2
believe_in_gibbs replied to omarkal's topic in FFToday Board
I second the notion about Dunn continuing to be the rushing leader after three weeks. I'm starting Dunn this weekend over Gore. I gasped when I saw that FF Today had Gore listed at #3 and Dunn at #11. Gore has had two stellar games. The Eagles will slow him down (and force the 49ers to play catch up). I like Dunn on Monday night vs a soft Saints 'd'. They're ranked 7th vs the rush in the NFL. The key is to look at who they've played: the Browns and Packers Sure their emotions will be high with the re-opening of the Superdome (which they should be). I don't see their emotions lasting more than the first half though. Look for Dunn to rush for 125-150yds and score 1-2 tds (this weekend he will cross the goal line). Vick and Dunn together are too much for just about any defense. -
What can we expect from Betts this week?
believe_in_gibbs replied to hardball's topic in FFToday Board
Yesterday I saw an interview with Gibbs on NFL Network regarding Portis. He said that Portis practiced this week and will start. Keep Betts on your bench (in two weeks you might want to drop him). -
Davenport won't be a significant upgrade over Moats (but it would be the right thing to do--Moats is in the dog house with Reid and a non-factor [i waived his ass]). Slim pickings for wrs on the wire (don't bother). Thanks for answering mine.

At first I thought the qb situation was even. After taking into consideration the offensive lines and team speed on defense I think it's an easy choice: start Hasselbeck. The Seahawks 'o' line is ranked #4 according to Fox Sports. Even without Hutch they should allow Hasselbeck plenty of time to find the open receiver. They've got guys like defensive captain Lofa Tatupu and Julian Peterson (what were the 49ers thinking of letting their best player go?!) that will wreak havok on Warner. Warner will get his yards (250-275). The problem is that he will lose you some points with sacks and at least one turnover. You chose the right rbs (McGahee and Taylor). WRs are a bit mirky. Chad is the easy part. The difficult choice is between Roy, Smith and Jones. I liked Roy before he opened his mouth. Smith being questionable with a lingering hamstring injury is a risk. While I'm not one of those that think Jones will have a break out year, I believe he will put up respectable yardage (60-75yds) and one score vs the Steelers (especially with Polamalu questionable). Thanks for answering mine.
