Help w/ absentee owner for the whole season

We carry: 2 QB 4 RB 4 WR 2 TE 2 K 2 Def Mandatory. No issue w/ bye weeks.
  4. I am the commish of a 12 team league. We had a spot open in Aug and it was filled. I sent the invite for the league but he never accepted. My buddy contacted team 11 and I got an emails back from him stating that was going to be away for the draft and committed to the league w/o thinking about it. This was a few days before the draft. He said he would pay for his team and if we could find someone to replace him to do it. We never found a replacement so we drafted a team for him and I emailed him that he has a team. Week 1 came and he won but he had never signed in to the league. Me and owner watched his team and set his line up every week so no team would get a cheap win. An owner in my league has a problem with what we did for the team. We changed a lineup everyweek to keep the league fair, not to screw anyone. We did not do any add/drops for the team. The team in question is leading the WC race with a record of 6-4-1. Any money the team had won was going to be rolled back to the league for next year. Should I leave the team as is or forfeit all of the games?

Help w/ absentee owner for the whole season

Here is more: Just for the record...Here is a summary of events as they occurred. Bill McKeown is a last minute addition to the league and Engle drafts a team for him. Week #1 comes and goes and we notice McKeown still hasn’t contacted the league or made any changes to his line-up. Its Sunday morning week #2 and line-up have to be finalized…Adrian Peterson comes back early from his torn ACL and he is on McKeown’s team. The previous week McKeown’s team started Michael Bush because Peterson was still out…upon his return he was projected to get approximately 17 pts. (as per CBS Sports) while Michael Bush was projected to get 2 pts. Engle & I thought the only fair thing to do was to play the players on his team that were projected to score hirer…keep in mind that this was only thought to be a temporary solution until McKeown actually took full ownership of his team. Needless to say, McKeown never signs into the league or manages this team...no players were ever ADDED or DROPPED we simply moved the highest projected scoring player into the starting line-up. You may be asking “why in the hell are you involved with this”…Engle’s computer died and he asked if I would mind filling in for him because he didn’t want to be doing fantasy football things from his work computer, so with that…he gave me access. You may recall in years past that some people failed to manage their teams to the end because they were already out of contention and some people got wins solely on the basis of someone not changing a line-up due to injury or by-week replacement. We always had the league’s best interest at heart and we thought in order to avoid potential issues we felt that simply inserting the best possible line-up was the easiest/best solution given the situation. In hindsight, we realize that this should have been agreed upon by the league but because of the lack of time we had to make the line-up change in week #2 we never reached out. Sprout

    Fake field goals

This is how my league handles it. I have only seen this come up 2 times since this rule has been in place. ** Adam Viniatiera rule-A player on special teams can score on a fake FG or Punt. If a fake Punt goes for a touchdown, the DEF will get the TD points plus any bonus points. If a fake FG goes for a TD and the Kicker throws the touchdown or catches it, the Kicker and player receiving/throwing the pass will both receive TD points plus any other applicable points. If anyone else throws the TD pass, the DEF will get the points (most likely you would not started the 2nd string qb who is the holder and we do not start punters)**

    ties in playoffs

What do you guys do if a tie happens during the playoffs. We do not have one but I want a rule in place in case a tie happens next year. I always wanted to go to decimal scoring if a tie. Others had wanted the bench scoring to break tie.

    Yardage bonuses

Does league use yardage bonuses. My league has a 5 point bonus @ 350 yards then 10 points @ 400 yards passing. Rushing and receiving each get 4 points @ 175 then an additional 4 points every addition 50 yards. Which is very unfair. I never really looked @ it until this year but I noticed that we had 48 Qb's get some kind of bonus while RB's got 9 and Rec got 6.

    Yardage bonuses

These bonus were set up in 1998 by the original commish. It never really mattered until this year when it seemed like every week someone was getting a yardage bonus. The bonus is supposed to be for something that does not happen often. For instance a 60 yard FG is worth 13 points since there it rarely happens (3 points + 10 bonus points). Our original long TD (50+ yards) was a worth 18 points until we changed it to 10 points. I just wanted to know what bonus structure people used if any. Personally if bonus is 5, 10 for QB then it should be the same for other positions.
  10. Does anyone have an excel file that would let me plug in scores over the last 10 years and it would give high scores, low scores, and such instead of me going thru and looking everything manually?

    ties in playoffs

Never liked decimal scoring in regular season. I figure if the nfl can have ties so can we. But in the playoffs, if I tie came about I wanted to convert to decimal scoring. Maybe I will bring up changing the whole year to decimal scoring and tell my league not to ###### @ me if you lose a game by .9 points when you would have one by 4 points w/ the old scoring system!

    Brees breaks Marino's Record

Kind of like in baseball when your up big, you do not steal bases and you play base to base baseball. Oh BTW DET was up 28 when Det got the ball back with 11:59 to go against SD. They threw the ball twice. Both on 3rd downs.

    Brees breaks Marino's Record

Brees and Payton are classless. No way you should be throwing the ball up 22 with 4 minutes to play. That is how you get players hurt.

    Notable and bad beats

7-8 years ago in week 13 I had chad Pennington and my opponent had the Oak Def. Monday night and I was bartending so I really could not take notice of what points were being score but I watched the last play of the game. Pennington being intercepted by the Def. I get home 4 am and check the site to see if I won. Turns out I lost by a point, so I had a 3 point lead before the last play but lost 2 points on the int and the Def got 2 points giving my opponent a 1 point win and the playoff spot.

    Playoff Seeding Tiebreaker

Sorry, you are correct, just read my own tie breaker rules. The H2H winner of the 3-1 teams would get the playoff spot. If there is a 2nd or more spots you redo the rankings w/o the team that got the 1st spot. Then you go from there.
  17. bkbergen

    Playoff Seeding Tiebreaker

You eliminate one team at a time so the loser between d and f would be out then you start over with 4 teams.
  18. bkbergen

    Playoff Seeding Tiebreaker

The tie breaker process is supposed to start over again once you eliminate the first team. See below: Team a 3-1 Team b 3-1 Team c 2-2 Team D 2-2 Team F 0-4 Team F would be out and you start again from the top until you have 2 teams remaining. Atleast that is how i see it.

League Penalize for a pick 6

I was wondering if anyone s league penalizes for throwing a pick 6 (or fumble 6) other than the negative points for the turnover?

Quandary - Up 1 Going into MNF

Don't you automatically lose if do not start a full roster?
  21. Never have thought about quitting b/c of losing, have b/c of time constraints. I make the playoffs this year if Matt forte gets 1 more yard in week 3. I missed the playoffs by less the 3 feet. One year I had chad Pennington and the person I was playing had the Oak Def and they were playing each other on monday night. Had a three point lead until the last play of the game when Pennington tosses up a hail mary and is intercepted. I lose by a point and the guy I was playing made the playoffs. The point is that in least my eye's FF is about the group of guys have in the league. My league started in 98 and I joined in 99. Was at the draft in 98 but was leaving the Philly area for work. WE have had a 92% retention rate until recently. I can not wait until the draft next year to get together with all those guys again.

    Precedence on the Meachem TD?

That is why I put this rule in for the 2004 season: **Keenan McCardell rule - If a Team is on offense, and they lose possession of the football by Int. or fumble yet gain it back and score a TD off of a subsequent fumble, the scoring player WILL receive credit for that TD, and the D/ST will NOT.** I will be amending the rule to state that no yardage points will be awarded.
  23. bkbergen

    It's a TD for the Saints D/ST

This is all null and void if you have the following rule in place: **Keenan McCardell rule - If a Team is on offense, and they lose possession of the football by Int. or fumble yet gain it back and score a TD off of a subsequent fumble, the scoring player WILL receive credit for that TD, and the D/ST will NOT.** I gave Meacham the 6 points and took the 6 points from the Saints DST. I will be amending the rule next year to say that no yardage points will be given. Now for fake fg/punt td we have the following rule: ** Adam Viniatiera rule-A player on special teams can score on a fake FG or Punt.

  25. So I was in San Diego for the weekend w/o access to internet. I accidently deleted by phone contacts and could not call anyone in my league. I wound up playing two players that were on a bye. One was a rb (which I prob would have started Felix Jones 0 points) and the other was a DEF (would have started Hou def 6 points). The total of those two players points were 6 points which would have given my a win by 2 points. My loss may cost another team a possible playoff spot. Should the spots w/ bye week players be replaced retroactively esp the DEF where there was no indecision of who to play due to fairness of the league? It was not like those players were GTD and got stuck with them on my active roster.
