  1. Know your rules, it keeps the paranoia subduded.

An NFL receiver must re-establish his position after making a catch, that is defined as having two points down (foot and butt, two feet etc.)---Unless he leaves his feet to make a catch. Once he does this he must hit the ground without allowing movement of the ball upon landing in order to re-establish his position for the purpose of a catch. If the point of the ball touches the ground upon contact and moves it is judged not to be a catch--this is not open to interpretation--its the rule.

That's also the rule that Steve Young and Mike+Mike don't know.

  2. We have a well established league with fair but firm rules and experienced Commish and Asst. Commish.

We draft late 9/2 and need one $125.00 entry team. 60-30-10 pot split all proceeds to winners .

Must be local for live draft 9/2.

    Email: alsamara@hotmail.com for more info.

League spot still open as of Saturday A.M. Must have one team by Tuesday 6:00 P.M.

  3. Cowboys are Americas team because of several irrefutable facts.

Prior to two weeks ago the Cowboys were involved in every time slot on all networks for the most watched time slots in all TV venues. The Cowboys/ Pats game was the most watched NFL game in 10 years. The PatsIndy gamy edged it but it took two undeafeated to edge a cowboy game out on one slot. They have the record for the most watched program in cable history.

All their games have been moved from the early Sunday slot to the P.M. slot, they have the most watched early Sun. late Sunday afternoon and Sunday night slot-in history. Monday night game & each of their Super bowls were the most watched SB and their last SB held the record for years before audience inflation finally took the '95 SB out.The Cowboys are ratings gold.

The Cowboys logoed merchandise are the regular leaders for the NFL over any 10 year period and in most individual years.

The Cowboys logo apparel staye in the NFL's top 5 through 3 consecutive 6-10 seasons.

Pittsburg and Green Bay have great fan bases but they don't draw or sell gear like the Cowboys. The Cowboys are America's most followed team--hard for others to follow but true.

  4. this is just silly. so much crap happens mid-week with regards to practice, injury status, etc.

    accreditation rooned. :shocking:

That would be silly to you and you alone.

Good FF practice calls for setting your roster early then adjusting as injury reports and coach's press conferences cause you to adjust your roster as the week goes on.

If the wife goes into labor or the internet connection goes down---or anything else unforseen occurs the roster is already primarily in place with the players---you knew you were going to play anyway on Tuesday.

P.S. You're very welcome for the FF advise that'll make you a better player, silly as you may have considered it. After all that's why your reading this board anyway.

  5. Need help here too....

I have Rudi Johnson on the road at Denver or Ronnie Brown at home against a bad Jet run defense.

While there are numerous pros and cons the biggest one is Ronnie's ability to play the whole game, if not it's Rudi time.

Can anyone shed light on Saban's thoughts on using Ronnie fully this week? Or will it be a 10-12 carry tune-up.

  6. Accreditation: 8 years playing FF 4 years as Commish

Suggest you wait. You have work considerations here and the likelyhood is this player was of goodwill but was not prepared for the time to properly manage his team.He may voluntarily drop out for next year.Set signup early and give a 10 day deadline for response.

    1. Next year issue written rules for all to see in mid-summer.

    2. Include a clause about "best efforts" every team deserves best efforts from every other team.

    3. Reserve the right of the commissioner to alter rosters Sunday morning using the league's commissioner's override capabilities-use this only in extreme cases, but do use it.

4.Require all owners to have their cell phone #'s submitted to the Commish as a requirement of participation.Call or not but state in the rules that the Commish is under no obligation either way.

    5. Encourage all owners to set rosters on Tuesday for the coming week this habit will discourage roster errors. They can always review later in the week.

  7. 12- team ppr league

In our league we have two teams who's owners are boyfriend and girlfriend. I won the regular season and my playoff game so Im now in the finals where Im playing this guy's girfriend. All of a sudden the boyfriend drops Terry Glenn (who was his #1 WR) from his roster and doesnt even pick anyone else up  . The girlfriend has DJax, who may not play, as her #1 WR. I also noticed that she has waiver priority over me so I cant undercut her by taking Glenn, and Im assuming that she will pick him up.

So, should I call bullsh## right now by going to his house and punching him in front of his family or am I missing something about Glenn (hurt or something?)

I just dont want to look like a jerk if something is actually wrong with Glenn

    Thanks guys

FYI Collusion is cheating and stealing from your friends. In our league we lock all rosters after week 12 and play week 13 with no roster moves allowed. For the playoffs wk. 14-15-16 rosters are reopened but all eliminated teams rosters remain locked.

Suggest you institute this rule for next yr. and most, if not all,of your collusion problems disappear.

We also have a provision in our rules allowing the commisioner (me) to override any transaction that may indicate collusion, at my discrection. I have never, in 4 years had even examine a transaction we just don't have a problem.

  8. My league has gone through the same thing this year as I suggested and sold the idea of increasing DEF scoring this year. We only make changes at the Pre-draft rules meeting in August, ---another good rule to follow.

We also had a first timer draft Chicago early (6th round) with chuckling in the room.

A year ago we bumped up all scoring to make games average about a 120-100 score, this makes our league far more fair as we have less one hit wonder game winners as the high scoring forces a team to have a good performance by several players to win.

Now we have some of the losers complaining.

The Chicago and BAL DEF owners both made the playoffs the NYG, NE and PITT owners all had to use the WW to improve their DEF teams despite the pre-season ranking of those DEF teams. This is as it should be.

DEF/ST team choice should be as important as QB, RB and WR choices and having the average scoring of the DEF fit into the middle average of the other positions is fair and challenging.

WRs are very inconsisitant, RBs are more consistant but injury prone and there are only 21-22 fulltime 3 down starters, QBs are abundant (there are 32 fulltime starters, sometimes a QB playing from behind will light it up) so each position except K has its own set of variables that can effect the outcome and so should DEF/ST that's our logic.

  9. did you forget that football is a team sport? emmitt didn't win shiat without troy and the crackhead.

btw, how many titles did emmitt win in college?

    portis and the canes

    Nice Logic again. Smurfskin.

Not worth the trouble here. Emmit broke the FL state schoolboy record for yards from scimmage w/ 8000+ just to educate you, as if past associations pre-NFL were relevant--- and play along with your specious point that Emmit's teammates count in diminishing his records, but Portis University of Miami thugs did not....And its O.K to be a UM National Champion with Portis while MI also of UM is dismissed. Nice logic .

Sounds like something Norman Einstein would say (Famous Joe Theesmann quote for those of you in Rio Linda).

  10. Emmitt's first 4 years:

    5,699 yards rushing

    Portis' first 4 years:

    5,930 yards rushing

    Portis >>>>Emmitt

Nice Logic. Easy to see why you're a Redskin fan.Looks like you've had the fake pig nose and girdle a little too tight...... cutting off circulation a bit.

Portis only needs 12,000 more yards and three SuperBowl rings, a 25 TD season under his belt, for you to have an arguement.
