The guy I'm playing against!
-
Below is my team with projected Wk 1 starters in bold (have to start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D): QB: P Rivers, B Rothlisberger RB: M Jones-Drew, R Brown, A Bradshaw, L Washington WR: S Smith, B Marshall, A Gonzales, K Walter TE: C Cooley, J Carlson K: K Brown, L Tynes D: CHI, TB, NO Now I could use some extra thoughts on: - WR - A Gonzales over B Marshall - Confident here as I don't think Marshall will have an impact for another couple of weeks. - TE: Have Cooley but gut says to go with Carlson. The Giants allowed only 1 TD to TE last year, while Carlson is going against the awful Rams (plus I'm a NYG fan) - D: I picked up NO vs DET just for this week, as the Bears were smacked around by GB twice last year and I just don't have good feeling of TB vs the Cowboys Any comments pro or against these would be greatly appreciated, and don't forget to leave a link. Thanks.

Just was offered R. Bush and Megatron for LT and Berrian--what do i do?
Boston_Diablo replied to smartgenius's topic in A Little Help!
Don't do it... R Bush will get injured... again... and Calvin will see a dip in production with a rookie QB. LT will be very solid, and Berrian has the potential to exceed expectations. -
What are your league rules? That will come into play (ppr, TD only, etc...). On the surface, I'd say Jones. He is the most dangerous of the bunch and most likely to score. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=349493

Carlson - Weak opponent and Shockey is still looking for that elusive first Saints TD Henry - Denver looks like a train wreck and Orton at the helm is dicey. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=349493

Bell... Good matchup, and apparently no Pierre. Beanie will likely get hurt during pre-game warmups. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=349493

Week 1 Help, post a link and I'll help back
Boston_Diablo replied to rstevens34's topic in A Little Help!
RB: Williams and Westbrook... Have to start out with your main guns. WR: D Bowe and L Coles... Bowe's matchup is very tough (duh), but he is superior to all your other WR options. And Denver looks like a train wreck, so I'd stay away until further notice, therefore Coles is next up. Plus the Denver D is anything but stout. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=349493 -
Ginn Jr... He's a top target in Mia. Let the rookie (and Favre) prove himself first. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=349493
-
I'd go with Brown. He is likely to see more action, plus I see Harvin still more of a project than immediate contributor. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=349493

Don't know if you saw my reply back on my thread, but to be sure: I'd go with Parker. All indications are that at least on Wk 1, he will get all the duties including goal line. And with Haynesworth gone, the Titans D will be softer up the middle. Plus LenDale is still hovering to vulture the TDs...

Never to early to Start 'em or Sit 'em!

Thanks for the feedback. As for your RBs, I'd go with Parker. All indications are that at least on Wk 1, he will get all the duties including goal line. And with Haynesworth gone, the Titans D will be softer up the middle. Plus LenDale is still hovering to vulture the TDs... -
MJD will have the best stats / points in PPR league
Boston_Diablo replied to seh2000's topic in FFToday Board
I have the #1 pick tomorrow and am going with MJD all the way. Last year, Peterson had 1700+ yds / 10 TDs / 21 rec and still finished 5th in our scoring system (1/2 ppr). I don't expect much improvement from those numbers, particularly yds. And something tells me this whole Favre scenario is going to turn the Vikes into a train wreck this year. As for MJD, you can bank on double digit TDs and 50-60 recs, plus I feel comfortable another 1200 yds rushing mins are in the cards. Plus his SoS is pretty soft as well. All this = #1 pick. Plug your league scoring rules into the FFtoday projections (which I think look pretty reasonable) and see what it tells you. -
Sorry, but Jennings is the pick. Boldin may be a stud when healthy, but he's missed time in 4 of 6 seasons, and is hurt this preseason already. He might put up a ton of points, but it will not be much consolation when losing the 2 or 3 or 4 games he's missing.
-
I have a strong urge to draft him too, but truth is he has missed significant time in 4 of 6 years, and already has a few bumps and bruises in TC to deal with. If he can be had as a WR2, golden. But for anyone waiting for him to be their WR1, caveat emptor.
-
Go with Jennings. He continues to improve and has a more solid QB. Smith on the other hand misses time every year, plus has only gone over 8 TDs in a season once. Jennings has already done it twice.
-
Great work! I'm going #1 with MJD and that's that!
-
Rice will most likely be the primary back in BAL and should definetely be picked up. By the time you draft him, you will be looking at a RB2 or 3 anyway, not your #1 guy, and he will most likely produce as such. By that time as well, you will be hard pressed to find any team not going RBBC, so you might as well ride one of the more talented backs left.
-
I am nervously going with MJD as well. With 1760 yds and 10 TDs, AP was still only the 5th ranked back in our league, and truth be told I don't expect a significant change to those numbers. Plus I the whole Favre saga has me getting a 'train wreck is coming' feeling out of Minnesota. My only concern is that '09 MJD does not become '08 Marion Barber, a co-starter giving the full load, expected to take it to the next level and then failing to deliver. But if all goes well, MJD should be the man to go with.
-
Bradshaw might be better, but Jones is still a starter... and one that will be facing a pretty soft run schedule to boot. Neither will get a lot of scores, but expect Jones to actually be on the field a lot more. Bradshaw will come occassionally, but Jacobs will get way more time, and all the TD chances. With JJ, he might lose goal line attempts, but he still will end up with more yds at the end of the season than Bradshaw.
-
Looks like I'll be facing a similar choice, and although I think McFadden is the better back, I like Ray Rice better. When you get down to RB2-3, almost all are RBBC and Rice seems to be in line for the bulk of the load in Baltimore. Also, aside from the Pitt games, they're schedule against the run looks pretty good as well. Regarding DMcF, the whole circus in Oakland drives me away. And with an inexperienced QB with no WRs, seems like he will be facing a lot of extra folks in the box. I also would not call him the unquestioned starter, as it looks to be another clear RBBC situation there, with Michael Bush and Justin Fargas taking some carries for sure.
-
Here are the scoring rules: TD - 6pts Ru Yds - 1 for every 15yds Rec - 1 for every 2 Rec Yds - 1 for every 20 yds AP is the 'consesus' #1, but in our league he was 5th among RBs last year, even with 1700+ yds and 10 TDS. And if MJD gets anything like the FFToday projections, he is the clear #1 pick. My main concern is whether MJD will be the '09 version of '08 Marion Barber... couldn't wait for the RBBC to be over so the double digit TD machine could take over, only to spend most of the year hurt and not thrive as the feature back. What do you guys think?
-
These are your two best SoS breakdowns: Passing: http://www.junkyardjake.com/Matchup/SOS/sos_pass.htm Rushing: http://www.junkyardjake.com/Matchup/SOS/sos_rush.htm Broken down for the 'regular' season and playoff, plus a weekly rating for each team. The first time I referenced it a couple of years back, I won my first league championship.
-
All signs point to these 4 guys being available to me in a PPR leagure. Leaning towards Rice because, outside of the Pit games, their SOS against the run appears fairly easy. On the flip side, playing with the West, Larry is going against some bad teams and now has in theory a QB to take the heat off. Your thoughts?
-
I'm facing drafting from this same group, and one thing to remember though is that Smith has only played all 16 games once, and scored more than 10 tds once, and Colston has missed time in 2 of 3 seasons, while Jennings has no injury history (I think) and has been consistently improving with each season. And on the same note, so has Roddy White, who has also played every game of every season and improved each year. Not saying not to draft the others if they are available, as they are better than most, but you have to remember consistency and how you need your #1 guy out there every day. If all goes well, I hope Jennings is available when my turn comes around.

The #1 Pick in the Draft... Adrian Peterson or MJD?
