***Official Week 1 NFL Gambling Thread***

It was Al Michaels and he ALWAYS knows what the spread is and the O/U... We got some rookie QBs starting this week and it is tempting to play against them even though they are at home. Bengals -1.5 vs. Ravens (Flacco) Detriot -3 vs. Falcons (Ryan) Cards -2 vs. SF (O'Sullivan) Those are some crap road teams to take but is it a good bet under the circustances? Probably. I feel like the Lions/Falcons game is the best bet because the Falcons have no one to take the pressure off Ryan. At least, SF has Gore and the Ravens have a supposedly good O line and defense. I also like the Bills at home -1 vs. Seahawks. Just feels like a home game that the Bills should win. Gut instinct.

I think SD State is horrible.

Finally getting a chance to study up on this week's slate. My leans with comments on the five I like the most: Notre Dame -21 or less...I will take ND big this week at 3TDs or less. SD State got 27 yards on the ground against Cal Poly!!! This has blowout written all over it. Ohio +34 No Beanie Wells and Tressel won't want to show USC anything. OSU could cover this spread if they tried, but I look for no one important to be in this game in the second half for the Buckeyes. I think this ends up about a 24 point win for OSU vs. an Ohio team that will be able to pass a little on the Buckeyes. Michigan -14.5 I was on Utah last week, but I saw a Miami Oh team that had little speed in the secondary in their first game. Michigan WRs should be open and I look for Grady (suspended last week) to get loose on the ground. Michigan should be angry too. Cal -13..Washington State should be faded until further notice. NW -6 Duke beat them last year so I think NW will be motivated and should throw all over Duke. No home field edge either. Ok State -15 GaTech +7 Miami Fl +23 Texas Tech -10 Wyoming -3 A&M -2 WVU -9 Stanford +14 Az/Toledo OVER 59

Still looking over the card and will have some thoughts later. But on the ND/SD St, SD St lost to a division II team last week and had 30 yards rushing. They have no O line and no D line, according to what I am hearing. I am not saying Notre Dame is very good--I think the jury is still out--but they do have some good RBs and should have their way with SD St on the ground. I don't know if I can take the Domers laying such a big spread, but please understand that SD State is that bad. I don't like to back putrid teams.

***Official Week 1 College Football Gambling Thread***

Had a nasty finish yesterday to blow my good start. Lost a few units. Oh well, back at it today... Kentucky has a decent defense and 8 starters back against a whole new Lville offense. Canfield is a decent QB but will be throwing to sophomore WRs with no career catches and a new TE. Also, Ky has a lockdown corner and very good secondary. Ky. has a new QB as well but probably has an easier route on the ground with a stable full of backs against Lville's crap defense. So unless you think Canwell will carve up Ky., I think you have to go with the superior running game and better defense and take the Cats and the points. PLAYING: Ky +3 2.5 units WINNER UNDER 55.5 1 unit WINNER In the nightcap, normally this is a close game, but Colorado has a good QB back and a super frosh named Darrell Scott at RB. Col State has question marks at cornerback (according to Phil Steele) while Buffs have top 2 wideouts back. Throw in a new coach, new QB with only 14 starters back for Colorado State and I'm sold. I see a big blowout, I'll lay the chalk with the Buffs. PLAYING: Colorado -11 3 units WINNER gl to all

0-0 Hello to all of the regulars... I'm going to be going against the grain tonight in the ESPN headliner. I just can't turn down more than 14 with NC State. Spurrier Jr. calling the plays so I look for running. NC State +14.5 1 unit I'm hearing that Oregon State has plenty of defense for Stanford. Not a believer in Stanford's QB. Oregon State -3 1 unit I gotta take the SEC over the MAC. Vandy should be able to lock down Miami's passing game. Vandy +3.5 1 unit WINNER Playing the UNDER too for .5 unit LOSER good luck to all

I agree with Pack Your Nut about S Carolina on Thursday. They have a dominant defense and I look for something in the 30-10 range... Vanderbilt dominated Miami O on the gorund last year but have NO O lineman back this year. They should be juniors and seniors, according to Phil Steele, but that still worries me too much to take them against an improved Miami O team on national TV. Lean Vandy but no play as of now... Lean Troy just based on reputation and outstanding showings early in previous years against top talent. But will they be fired up to play Mid Tenn State??

Final 4 Spreads Thursday PM: Memphis -2 UCLA UNC -3 Kansas Think the UNC line will rise to 4 before tip, but see UCLA heading toward a PK. Leaning to the Dogs, so I'm definately not in a hurry to bet against UNC. I think Kansas is long enough and big inside to force Carolina into taking a lot of jump shots. Kansas can run with the Heels too. Ucla-Memphis is a toughie. Points for UCLA: Final 4 experience, better defensive numbers, Love, better coach, Memphis back up suspension Points for Memphis: Hot team, Rose, superior transition game Lean UCLA because of experience primarily.

Swirve, Gridiron Assassin and others... About the Siena under play: Siena under has hit last five games, Vnova unders are 10-2-1 last 13 games. Just riding the trends and noon tip traditionally means cold start... Also: Just read that Siena coaching staff has close ties with VNova including VN assistant/video tape guy for last two years. VNova coach said the former assistant knows his team as well as anyone. Just another reason to consider Siena plus points.
