I like the idea of the Yahoo articles today highlighting players the writers like better than their ADP's suggest: http://sports.yahoo.com/fantasy/nfl/news?s...bf-top10_082709 A few of mine: Eddie Royal (55): Although I suspect his ADP will be on the rise now that Marshall is suspended. Felix Jones (70): Worth the gamble Kevin Smith (35): End of third round pick for a guide who won't share carries or be pulled at the goalline Shonn Green (121): Big strong runner behind an aging, increasingly angry veteran.

I wouldnt be surprised if Felix Jones finished in the top 12.

Personally, I don't think the Giants passing game will be that good, so why worry about their second or even third best receiver?

Player X is "hitting the holes hard." Player X appears to be the "quarterback's premier target." Player X is "having a great camp.' (I heard this on the radio twice today; the Bears haven't been practicing one full week yet and they are already filled with guys having great camps) By the way, and I know this contradicts everything on this post, I'm buying the Olsen hype. He'll be a top 5 TE.
-
Player A looks "quick after coming into camp 15 pounds lighter." Player B looks "strong after putting on 10 pounds of muscle in the offseason." Player C looks "explosive" in camp Player D has a "new attitude." Coach of Player E says "he's never seen Player E look stronger." Player F is determined to have a "bounceback year." Player G looked "dominant" in minicamp.

I agree to a certain degree. If an historically unfit player comes in to camp lighter and faster than usual, I'll put some stake in that. However, too often it amounts to nothing. And the next year the same guy will be applauded for "bulking up and looking stronger than ever." It's just an endless cycle of preseason hype that fills the sports pages and fuels talk radio for the 1.5 months prior to the regular season. L. White will be an interesting example. He apparently is looking lean and faster than ever. Is that necessarily a good thing for a goalline back who had 15 TD's last year?

The quote from Young came from this month's issue of Esquire. His claim that he'll be the next black qb to win the Super Bowl is the least interesting comment he makes in a very compelling, although short, article. As a kid, he faced troubles I could never even imagine; a few tough years in the NFL won't keep him down.

I'm picking 9th in a 12-team league and tempted to take Fitgerald and Andre Johnson with my first two picks, then taking RB's with my next four or so picks, hoping two of them work out. Then again Gore/Slaton/C Williams and A Johnson is not bad either. However, I feel like Fitz and AJ are better locks to perform.

I'm hesitant to take a player at #6 when he loses goal line carries.

Some things to be said about fantasy football
beefcurtain replied to Dallas_Empire's topic in FFToday Board
I agree with #1. I get can't help but roll my eyes when some dude's only response to a "Slaton Scores 10th Touchdown Thread" is the two-thumbs up icon and a "That's why I drafted him in 14 of my 16 leagues!" comment. Not sure we need a rule about it, but it's pretty lame. Of course, showing off about fantasy football in general is pretty lame. -
- Henry is super talented. - Carson likes throwing to him in the red zone. - Housh is gone. - Ocho Cinco appears to have lost a step Put those together and I think Henry is an excellent late round gamble.

draft strategy - my thoughts, let me have it

Check out this Sports Illustrated solo mock draft. The writer takes Fitzgerald and Johnson with his first two picks. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/fant...icks/index.html -
draft strategy - my thoughts, let me have it
beefcurtain replied to whiteknight's topic in FFToday Board
He never said it was revolutionary, just looking for some thoughts on the strategy. If I took two WR's, say Fitzgerald and Calvin Johnson, I would probably take RB with my next three, even four, picks, better chance that two of them work out. You can hold off a bit on the QB, especially in a 10-team league. -
Anyone concerned about Slaton losing goalline carries? He struggled from within the five last year. LT, on the other hand, is not going to lose goalline touches to tiny Sproles.

Had a great time drafting last night as our league got a topless waitress to help with beers and the draft board. Let me know what you think. 10-teams. No PPR. Standard scoring. QB - Anderson, Favre RB - Westbrook, MJD, Maroney, Ricky Williams, D. Williams WR - Fitzgerald, C. Johnson, Galloway, Mason, Walker TE - Winslow K- Vinatieri D - Jacksonville Thanks and leave a link
-
1-Westbrook 2-Fitzgerald (wayne and edwrds picked right before me.) 3_MJD 4-Calvin Johnson (i picked him before welker and holmes. could be mistake) 5-Maroney (Not sure why he dropped this far) 6-winslow 7-d anderson 8- Galloway 9-D Williams 10-Favre 11-Mason 12-Ricky Williams 13- Walker 14-Vinatieri 15-Jacksonville

Draft tonight.....here is my strategy
beefcurtain replied to Signature_Athletes's topic in FFToday Board
I drafted 3rd last night in a 10-team league. Grabbed Fitz in the second and MJD made it back to me in the third. I wouldn't expect him to last past that spot, though. -
Just Finished A Big Money Draft! QB Heavy Early!
beefcurtain replied to BunnysBastatrds's topic in FFToday Board
Why is that every time someone asks for an evaluation of his team, some tool feels the need to mock the "quality" of the league. Every draft is different. Some players are going to slip, others will be grabbed earlier than expected. Isn't that the fun of it? Who says AP is automatically the number 2 player in fantasy? Who knows for sure that Coles will find rythm with Favre? Calling his league stupid because the owners don't see things the same way as you brings nothing constructive to the table. The guy wanted an evaluation, not your elitist attitude. -
As if the majority of the public knows this imaginary inside information from some dude's coworker's wife's doctor? That's why he's dropping on draft boards? He's dropping because he is injured and might not be starting week 1.
-
You don't like MJD in the fourth round? That's an unbelievable steal. I would consider taking him round 2.
-
Thanks for the info. I'm drafting third and also considering going RB-WR-WR. I noticed J Lewis was grabbed a couple spots ahead of you in round three. If he was there, would you have drafted him over AJ? Also, I might have taken T. Jones over Harrison. You have two stud WR's. I'd like to have a third RB to backup Westbrook (who could miss a game or two) and Turner (unproven). Just a couple thoughts.

I traditionally grab two RB's with my first two picks but I'm considering waiting on my second RB this year. In a 10-team league with the number 3 pick, would you rather have Westbrook, MJD/JLewis, Colston with hopes to grab Plaxico/Welker type in 4th and 5th rounds or Westbrook, Edwards, Colston with hopes of grabbing a Parker/Graham/Turner/F. Taylor type in 4th and 5th rounds It seems to me that the second option is better this year.

Actually, I want to replace his worthless as#. Should I trade C. Chambers for Heath Miller? My wr's are Housh, S. Smith, Bowe, and B. Marshall. He wants Chambers over Bowe.
