The point is to bash the 2nd of the two moves. With Lloyd already on the team, why sign Randle El? He instead asks, "With Randle El already on the team, why trade for Lloyd?" which is the wrong question.
-
Ummmmm, they traded for Lloyd before they signed Randle El.

New contract details from KFFL:

Also from KFFL (ie, now so fast my frined):

Still, it's better than just Abraham for the 15. It seems that they needed to beat what Seattle was offering (#31) and they accomplished that. They wanted Abraham badly enough to want to make this happen. Don't know yet if its a good move, but assuming that they were going to get Abraham anyway they were better off getting the deal with Denver done first. Denver did very well. It's surprising that Indy (#30) or Jax'ville (#28) didn't want to beat the deal that Denver got from Atlanta.

He ended the season very well, averaging 9 catches and 102 yards per game against the Broncos, Bengals, and Jets. I realize that none of these teams are atop the D standings (although the Broncos were good). But he was far from a disaster in '05 and he's normally bad in odd years anyway.

fixed, hth.
-
, but from the ATL's perspective it was better to get something for moving down to a #26-#30 pick than to just give the Jets their #15.
-
Also mentioned there: I guess they think that the Jets won't be grabbing a QB at #4. Otherwise, they'd probably have to move up to #6 using their #15 and #22.
-
The link actually says that the 1st and 3rd are in '06 and that the 4th is in '07.
-
nope linkage
-
Fanball is also confirming, but it's based on ESPN:
-
So the Donkeys retain #22 to go with the newly acquired #15. That'll alter the mock drafts a lot.
-
Two out of three ain't bad, right? And there's still time to adjust the OLine.
-
Of course - that's why I was saying that there was no reason not to let Givens walk for a $24m contract with the Titans. I didn't realize that they had a OT contigency in mind already - thanks for the info. Still, they need another OT for depth purposes, right (like they need another OG for the same)? Guys who have knowledge of their system would seem like good ones to keep around if the price isn't too bad. If they haven't even initiated conversations about that, then why not?
-
No question on Adam V. But Givens got stupid money from the Titans and the Pats are better off without trying to beat that offer. I'd be more concerned about the OL guys - Neal and Ashworth. And I'd wonder why they aren't talking to Keyshawn.
-
Or maybe Edinger now that MN has Longwell.

Last year we had to release the IR'ed guys (cut someone else to make room on the active roster or just cut the IR'ed guy) by early January. Should we just do the roster moves all at once this year since it's already late March (which is I guess my suggestion at the moment)?

from fanball Just start Walter rather than waste time and money on these guys.

Scooby thinks he started the Rams, so we'll have the record as the first alternative. Thanks.

Yes, you have to sell out next year's draft to move up to #2 from #7. Great example on the Rivers-Manning trade: To get Manning, the Giants gave up the '04 1.04 and '04 3.03 plus a '05 1st and a '05 5th. That was just so that they could move up three slots. The Oakland '07 first will be too good to make anything like this worth doing. If Oakland isn't going to move up to 2nd, then it'd be trying to move to 4th for the Jet's pick and the 2nd QB. If the Jets are willing to move down, then they obviously don't want a QB and Oakland might as well stay where they are and grab the 2nd QB there. If the Jets don't want to trade out of 4th, then it'd be a move to 5th or 6th and still getting the 3rd QB. Staying at 7th is the only thing that makes sense here.
