In layman terms... In 2016 democratic electors from 2 states asked the Republican electors not to vote for Trump, knowing full well that they would anyway. In 2020, Republicans from 7 states forged legal documents saying that they actually won the election, against the will of the voters, and they they were going to DC to elect Trump.
