It WAS affordable with the subsidies, without the subsidies, it won't be for many, and many will lose their insurance. That is a bad thing for them and for the country. You clearly don't understand how insurance works given your post. I suggest you do some research if you want to continue the conversation. A few things, health care costs were increasing more than other costs before the ACA, but no the ACA hasn't addressed or fixed it. No one has. There are lots of papers on what's behind the cost of healthcare. Instead of speculating and bringing up DEI I suggest you read up. Bottom line, Trump tried to get rid of it during his first term, fell one vote short. Will do the same again. Hopefully he fails again. At this point single payer might make the most sense. I never liked Obamacare when it was first passed but it's helped so many people you can't just take it away now.

The top issue was affordability and general dislike of Trump policies. I don't believe there will be a vote on the ACA subsidies, don't believe there will be any extensions, but we'll see. If Republicans had any intent of providing them, then they would have made a deal to re-open weeks ago. Republicans want to get rid of Obamacare and the first step is to make it unaffordable. We're also not going to see a budget bill any time soon. Another CR will be needed in January, Dems might decide to do this again at that time, but there is no way a budget is getting passed.

If you weren't lazy and actually looked at the results, you will see, particularly in NJ, that the Democrat outperformed the Republican by a much wider margin than just a year ago. This was an up and down beating, from school boards in PA to Mississippi house and senate, the results were clear. America doesn't approve of Donald Trump.
