Hey Wildman, I just read your long shot candidate article and would you pick up Rashaun Woods over Doug Gabriel? Woods is also available and I'm thinking of picking up Gabriel and just put Woods on my watchlist and see if he does anything to warrant a pickup.
-
Thanks Wildman. I appreciate your help.

Yeah, they drafted Dominique Byrd from USC in the 3rd round. He's had some injuries in the past, but he is a good TE also. I think we may see a lot more 2 TE sets from the Rams this year. It's hard to say which of these two rookies will emerge.

Here's my beauty: QB Hasselbeck/Palmer RB Julius Jones/Kevin Jones/Wesbrook WR Javon Walker/D Jax/A Johnson TE LJ Smith Other than Palmer, my second best point scorer was the Bears D.

I'm in a 12 Team dynasty with 22 player rosters, 1 IR spot, and a 3 man rookie/taxi squad roster. Scoring is traditional, 6 pts/TD, 1pt/10 yds rushing/recieving and start 2 RB/3WR.My WR/RB roster is as follows: RB Alexander, Shaun SEA RB - 5 Fason, Ciatrick MIN RB - 6 Faulk, Marshall STL RB - 7 Jackson, Steven STL RB - 7 Jacobs, Brandon NYG RB - 4 Morris, Maurice SEA RB - 5 Taylor, Chester MIN RB - 6 (Rook) Daniels, P.J. BAL RB - 7 (Rook) Norwood, Jerious ATL RB - 5 WR Boldin, Anquan ARI WR - 9 Henderson, Devery NOS WR - 7 Jackson, Darrell SEA WR - 5 Jenkins, Michael ATL WR - 5 Smith, Steve CAR WR - 9 Taylor, Travis MIN WR - 6 (IR) Bradley, Mark CHI WR - 7 My dilemma is my WR's. As you can tell, I have little depth behind my 3 starters (Smith,Boldin, Djax). Currently on our waiver wire are Justin McCareins and Doug Gabriel. Should I pick one of them up and drop Devery Henderson or Brandon Jacobs? Brandon Jones with Tennesee is also available, but I'm not sure how the WR mess is going to shake out there. Or am I making too big a deal out of my WR depth, and it's actually better than I'm giving it credit for?

I would keep all three. I like the idea of being able to start three first round RB's and draft some midlevel talent at WR (Horn/Stallworth, A. Johnson, Derrick Mason) and still get a decent QB in the later rounds. That would be a pretty scary team to have to face.

I don't like Ahman Green this year. You've got Gado and Davenport in the mix, they didn't really address any of their offensive line issues and the WR corps isn't any better than it was last year. The defense is going to be marginally better, but not enough to keep the team competitive. I'll let someone else have that train wreck. I think Deuce is going to bounce back a bit and put up good enough numbers to be a borderline #2 and great #3 RB. Bush is going to get 15-20 touches a game, but that's going to be kick returns, receiving, and rushing. Someone has to be the workhorse and be able to punch it in from the 1 yard line. That guy is Deuce, he hasn't forgotten how to play football. Bush is the sexy pick, but he's not a 25 carry a game RB. That's why Lendale White had such great numbers at USC. If I'm drafting in the 6th/7th round and Deuce is sitting for me I'll be taking him. Bum knee and all. I say he still puts up 1000yds and 8-10 TD's.

I despise Tyrone Calico with all my being. I hung onto his sorry butt for a long while in my dynasty and he never did jack squat. The fact that the Titans drafted several WR's last year and picked up David Givens this year signals the end of Calico in my mind. Back to Brandon Jones, does he really have that much potential? I have the opportunity to pick him up in a dynasty league, but I'd have to drop Devery Henderson WR New Orleans. Does he have more or less value than a Devery Henderson?
-
I think LJ Smith will be a solid TE. When McNabb was healthy, he was putting up some solid numbers. As soon as McNabb was out his numbers took a dump. I also like him because Walrus Jr. has plays specifically designed for him to get him involved in the offense so he'll get this catches.

Oakland is a mess and Aaron Brooks is a shaky QB. Denny Green loves Fitz and he wants the rest of the world to love him too. Not even close.
-
I like Jackson because he plays in the NFC West and the new coach, Linehan, has a tendency towards the power running game which is S Jax's strong suit.

Here's mine from two weeks ago: 1.01 Reggie Bush 1.02 Laurence Maroney 1.03 Joseph Addai 1.04 LenDale White 1.05 DeAngelo Williams 1.06 Matt Leinart 1.07 Vince Young 1.08 Jay Cutler 1.09 Vernon Davis 1.10 Chad Jackson 1.11 Santonio Holmes 1.12 Maurice Drew 2.01 Sinorice Moss 2.02 Jerious Norwood 2.03 Brian Calhoun 2.04 Maurice Stovall 2.05 Derek Hagan 2.06 Marcedes Lewis 2.07 Travis Wilson 2.08 Leonard Pope 2.09 Leon Washington 2.10 P.J. Can you imagine if this guy was on the Bengals with Chad Johnson?
-
There are still plenty QB's available so I take DJax as my #2 WR. If he's healthy, he's a lock for 80 yards a game and the TD's whenever Alexander isn't punching it in. Besides, I could still pick up Delhomme or Hasselbeck in the 5th or 6th.
-
What does this do for the potential of Marcedes Lewis? Leftwich loses his #1 veteran WR and has a bunch of young pups to throw to, maybe he uses his new rookie TE as a safety blanket?
-
I'm targetting the Ravens and Seahawks. Like most of you have said, the Ravens will drop a bit because of last years performance, but I think they will bounce back to a top 5 finish. Especially if McNair is leading their offense. I just have a feeling about Seattles D being pretty effective this year, they were the #8 defense in my league last year. Anyone have any thoughts on the Patriots? The stunk it up for the first part of the year, but were fairly solid the last 4 weeks of 2005.

As soon as the Titans took Lendale White I penciled in Payton as #1 drop in my dynasty league. They'll give White every opportunity to succeed and Payton, being an undrafted free agent, he'll be at the bottom of the barrell for a while.

I'm getting prepped for my dynasty draft and I'm curious as to why so many NFL teams passed up Leonard Pope for other TE's. I had him ranked #2 on my TE list, but he was the 6th TE drafted. Are guys like Scheffler, Fasano, and Klopfenstein really better than him or is there something about Pope that scared all those teams off? I was certain that Denver would have taken Pope or that Chicago or Carolina would take him but they repeatedly passed him up. Anyone have any insight?
-
I've dug into it some more and the only thing I've seen come up is that some people have said he was a bit lazy and didn't put forth full effort. I just know that when I saw him play in the SEC Championship game and the Sugar Bowl he was very impressive. I guess Pope is a victim of the TO effect, where franchises are shying away from questionable character, because I really feel he is a quality talent.

Mine just completed: 1.01 Reggie Bush 1.02 Laurence Maroney 1.03 Joseph Addai 1.04 LenDale White 1.05 DeAngelo Williams 1.06 Matt Leinart 1.07 Vince Young 1.08 Jay Cutler 1.09 Vernon Davis 1.10 Chad Jackson 1.11 Santonio Holmes 1.12 Maurice Drew 2.01 Sinorice Moss 2.02 Jerious Norwood 2.03 Brian Calhoun 2.04 Maurice Stovall 2.05 Derek Hagan 2.06 Marcedes Lewis 2.07 Travis Wilson 2.08 Leonard Pope 2.09 Leon Washington 2.10 P.J. Steelers RB V. Haynes To Assume "Bettis" Role
Queso Viejo replied to Dog Face Gremlins211's topic in FFToday Board
Is there any chance that the Steelers 7th round pick, Cedric Humes, could take on that role? He was a one man wrecking crew in the Virginia Tech backfield, he's just not too fast or shifty but will put a hurtin' on someone. -
I picked this up last week in preparation for my dynasty draft and it is very impressive. Time will only tell how good the evaluations are and these are exlusive of the situations that each player ends up in, but very in depth and allows you to decide how much detail you want to go into. Great work, Matt.
-
I'd keep McAllister and McGahee. You can pick up any of those other guys at 6 and 9 or focus on WR. You should be in great shape.
-
I scooped him up late last year in my dynasty league and he helped me out the last six weeks of the year with LJ Smith stinking up the joint. I have a feeling that he could be a solid starter, definitely top 10. I just hope he doesn't turn out like Boo Williams did with the Saints a few years back.

I'm looking for a website that has good player analysis and a grading/ranking system that not only takes into account players in this years draft but also previous drafts and how they will perform as a pro. Something similar to the prospect grades that you could get on the Sports Illustrated NFL Draft specials in the past years. I really liked their website and it especially helped me the later rounds of my dynasty draft when I was trying to pick up sleeper RB's and WR's. It doesn't matter to me whether it's a pay or free site, I'm just looking for information that I can quickly get through and would also allow me to print out in 1-3 pages or paste into a spreadsheet and sort as needed. I like the layout of Waltman's draft report on this site, but that's just too much info for me to lug into my draft. Anyone have some insite on the SportingNews.com Warroom?
