Is anything that we spend money on ever really worth the amount that we spend on it? I mean really, aren't we all basically suckers?

I look in the mirror and ask myself what I did to make this child, this angel sent from Heaven to bless the rest of my days, so unhappy as to utter such a hurtful and bitter remark. Is it something I said? Is it something I did? What about me can be better so that I'm worthy to be in this child's presence? And then I'll make a list of things I can do to improve myself, and work through them one by one, until the child isn't bratty any more.

It's cool that Shawshank got some respect. Not sure why LOTR 1 is ranked when LOTR 3 was a better movie. Also notable that LOTR 1 is the only movie from 2000 forward on the list. Only 3 comedies from 1977 forward (Annie Hall, Tootsie, and Toy Story if you count that as a comedy). Overall I think the last 20 years are severely underrepresented. American Beauty, Chicago, Braveheart, Traffic, Field of Dreams are all better than a number of movies on the list.

I'm excited about owning Motley Crue and forcing them to play my kids' birthday parties for the next 10-15 years. Otherwise, no comment.

Sure has, Meph! My father raised my sister and I as a single dad from the age of 4 on. He wasn't the warmest guy in the world. I don't remember having many talks or his taking much interest in my life or my hobbies, but looking back and knowing him now I can tell he was interested even if he couldn't communicate it very well. He also had a fairly active sex life that we weren't permitted to interfere with. But he's always been there when we really needed him, as long as we didn't need him overly much, and he bought me a car when I passed my driver's test on the fourth try and he showed up at graduation. Now that I have small children myself I know that I'm a much better father than I would be without having the memory of what growing up with him was like. I can't imagine how great a father I'd be if I hadn't blacked most of it out. And now he's like my best friend in the world, like a 65-year-old buddy that you just call up whenever you need money. I left two messages on his answering machine today to wish him happy fathers day which haven't yet been returned, but I'm sure he knows I'm thinking about him and love him. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

I'm getting a strong feeling that this is going to be a lot better than the first one.

Hey sawilson. I don't know the answer to your question but all I can say is I feel horrible that you even have to ask it. Noone ever goes into a marriage expecting it to fail. Marriages are about optimism and celebrating life. It just makes me sad that the celebration has to end sometimes.

My father paid for 95% of our wedding, because he wanted a big party and he could afford it. Never really found out how much it cost but I think it was a lot.

I would have it speak from the rain forest, or somewhere else that had more genuine indigenous people living there who the earth probably likes better. Or maybe the Marianas Trench (which is the deepest part of the ocean) or Mount Everest (which is the tallest mountain on earth). I don't want the earth to sound like a tourist. It should sound earthy and rough.
