  1. Maybe I'm missing it but I don't see the option of 2-point conversion in the scoring system in the Compiler.

Also what if my scoring system is that 0-19 yard FG is 1 pt, 20-29 is 2 pt, 30-39 is 3 pts, etc? There's no way to score it that way.

Sorry Mike I know my scoring system is completely nuts. Thanks.

Not seen a 2pt option myself, but guess it's not something you would really factor in?

possible field goal solution - score FG as 1 pt, then 0-29, gets 1 bonus 'yardage point' 30-39 2 bonus pts etc. Doesn't cover FG at 18 & 19 yds as CC counts them in with 20-29 but I think that will do it.

  2. Thanks for the reply, that sounds perfectly reasonable and logical! Of course, the website (yahoo) I use to manage the league doesn't have an option of a 6 team playoff!

Are you sure......league I was in last year on there had 6 team playoffs !!

  3. I have a 12 team, head-to-head, league that I've managed for a handful of years. It's a free league with nothing on the line but bragging rites. For the last few years I've changed the league settings here-and-there to try different configurations.

So, last year I had a 4 team playoff that takes place week 15 and 16. For various reasons, we avoid week 17. That means if your team had a horrible first-half of the season, if you can't recover by week 10 (or so), your whole season is lost as you may never make the playoffs. It can make for a boring season-end for some teams. However, it rewards teams who had a great regular season by ensuring they get into the playoffs.

The other option is to have an 8 team playoff, taking place weeks 14, 15 and 16. This gives the underdogs a change to get into the playoffs and make a late-season run for the title. However, it almost makes the regular season inconsequential because 8 of the 12 teams get into the playoffs.

Got thoughts? Any experienced league commissioners out there that have tried it all, and have settled on what they think is "the best" for the league?

Go for the middle ground - 6 get in. Seeds #1&2 get a bye (to week 15), #3 plays #6, #4 plays#5 in week 14, #1 seed then plays lowest ranked 'wild card', #2 gets the highest. Final is still week 16.

  4. First year having compiler and I am loving it so far. My question is is there a way of putting in last years regular season stats and getting how the players ranked in my scoring system to the end the season. My reason for this is cause we have an unique scoring system and I am curious how close/far my settings are for an accurate scoring for my league.

Not sure you can do this thru the CC/DB, but if you go to the STATS section of the main site you can get last year stats with FF points allocated.

    Hope that helps some

  5. That was the first thing I sent Mike, that player page is just plain sweet. Add in the ability to have both FFToday notes and my own notes on each player and I personally don't think it gets any better.

For all those who haven't used it or cling to the old school ways of pencil and paper. Not only has the Compiler/Draft Buddy helped me be infinintely more prepared, it has given me a distinct advantage on draft day. The ability to track not only who is available, but specifically who my opposition has and is in need of has been tremendous. Last year I got curious starting about round 5 and would start to venture guesses as to what positions an owner was going to take next and which player. I was right about 90% of the time on the position and about 70% of that on the player. Guys were coming over to me to asking me what guys ahead of them were going to pick and who was available. We had an issue during the draft where a pick didn't get recorded in time and was autopicked (gotta love CBS). Commish went back to correct it and lost 5-6 picks before that. I was instantly able to give a complete run down of the picks to that point. Bottom line is, although I'm sure I could manage without Compiler/Draft Buddy, I wouldn't want to.

(this was an unsolicited product endorsement, i swear!!!)

    Right with you there...

..how can anyone seriously start a thread like this on this forum ?? Surely we all love the CC/DB :dunno: :D

  6. '07 Blaylock = '06 Duckett :D

 My thoughts entirely, although there is also a story that Portis isn't back to full fitness yet, so maybe a 'need' for extra cover ??

  7. We came across an issue for Compiler and Draft Buddy users who tried the 2007 baseball versions. It impacted those who had the combination of Excel 2000 and the most recent, and apparently buggy, Internet Explorer 7.

It only impacted those who had both of these working together. If a user had Excel 2000 but a different browser, no problem. If a user had a different version of Excel with IE7, no problem. For those it did impact, if they switched back to IE6 then it resolved itself.

At any rate, I would like to get an idea what percentage of people this applies to. Maybe we'll work up a survey and ask a few questions about your Compiler and Draft Buddy use, but for now, a poll. My first poll evah!

Come on folks, 4 reads and nobody had voted yet :dunno:

FYI Mike, I'm on excel 2003 and ie6
