Official 2006 Keeper Thread, post keepers here
The Unknown Soldier replied to Orgazmo's topic in DPL
My running backs weren't good so I can't see keeping any of them. I'll have to go with the top 2 players which unfortunately are 2 wr's. Boldin Wayne I'm going to suck again. -
league website?for live draft or are we drafting right here
The Unknown Soldier replied to Doyle Redland's topic in DPL
Wait, so the actual draft is being held on AOL instead of here? Is it timed? For some reason the password and ID I used last year isn't working for that site <grumble>. I'll have to sign up again later. I thought the reason to start this early was because we were doing a slow draft here on the board... I'll check if I can get on aol from work. -
<checking in for DPL/NEFFL bidness> 10 pm on a weeknight is perfect for me. I get home from work around 9:15 PM so that's all good.

Forced back to this accursed board. My team sucks. Also, I'm in.

Just read my PMs at another site (thanks SC). I haven't been to FFT in a while so I didn't see the thread. I'm still in.

I don't follow any organized religion (so going to a church would be fairly pointless)

Quick Question about Paying for College
The Unknown Soldier replied to Ravens 03's topic in The Geek Club
I think it's because of the limited number of choices in your poll that the results seem so one-sided. I think that some of the people don't want to take the decision completely out of the kid's hands just because the parents are paying for it. I'm guessing that if you had a choice for "Parent sets limits, but kid gets choice" or "Parent sets amount they will pay towards college, kid has final decision and pays the rest" those would be more popular. I chose the 'Parents choose' option - only because I think it's wholly unreasonable for someone not paying anything to be given the complete choice of where they want to go. Like you were saying, if they chose to go somewhere that was $50K per semester, would you really just shrug your shoulders and say "oh well, debt - here I come!". I would think not. I also don't think a parent should force their kid to go to a certain school either, though. If I haven't been clear, I think a parent should set whatever their limits are that they are willing to spend and anything else will be made up by the kid and the kid can have the final choice. As with any good relationship though, both parties should have some input in the decision. In my case, my parents couldn't afford to send me to college. They made that clear to my brother and I early on. I had the grades and extracurriculars to get some scholarships and my dad took me around to visit schools and help me to decide what might be right for me. I ended up going to the college that gave me the most in scholarships/grants and I had enough saved to pay for the first couple years (on top of my grant/scholarship money). My last couple years were paid partially with loans. I knew a lot of people in college that wasted their time and didn't value getting an education because they weren't paying for it. Not saying that all feel or act that way - but some look at it as a 4 year party (if they make it that long) that someone else is paying for. -
Or checking your email. Or going to any number of non-porn sites. (But yeah, he's probably looking at a lot of porn)

Marijuana, addiction, depression and quitting
The Unknown Soldier replied to MLCKAA's topic in The Geek Club
If I happened to ever indulge in this activity and no longer indulge, the reason would be that I didn't have a connection to get it. Hypothetically, I would never have been depressed by this activity. -
A "diet" by itself does nothing for me. I have been watching what I've been eating (I'm talking portions more than content) and going to the gym 5 days a week and I've now lost ~45 pounds in the past 3 months.

Satellite radio users - accessing in house
The Unknown Soldier replied to FantasyKing's topic in The Geek Club
Of course (because he's short, yeah, I know), but he's right on this one. Stern even admitted on Sean Hannity's show last week to having the company that they both worked for back in the day censor O&A - which is why they rip on him so much now. Anyway, this thread's about getting the signal in the house, which is possible. -

Even when I did listen to Stern, at least I knew when he was BS'ing me. -

You were vague on which company and what product, but it is definitely possible. I have an XM MyFi, the XM portable receiver and it has a built-in FM modulator. I have a south-facing antenna in my house (XM radios need a south-facing antenna). When I bring in the receiver from the car, I hook the antenna up to the receiver and it broadcasts to every radio in my apartment, no problemo. -
That's one reason why I went XM (as you already know - repeating for the fft crowd). I like O&A a lot more than current Stern (where Artie is the only saving grace) and I've been hearing some clips of Bubba who indeed sounds like a hick and a hack. My friends that have Sirius won't listen to him and I don't think I'd listen to him even if I had the opportunity. The NFL station would be great and is the only reason why I thought about getting Sirius. I previewed both XM and Sirius stations before buying and thought they were roughly the same in music & comedy. The main difference for me were the receivers that XM offers. I wanted something that offered live programming on a portable device that could also record stuff. I've had the XM MyFi for a while now and I can't live without it. I take the thing everywhere and get good->great reception. Plus I always have some recorded content just in case I'm in a mountainous area or inside at the gym or something.

Oh I'll be quite the terror if I make it into the playoffs! alsonoIwon't

It would be even funnier since I don't live with anyone any more. I moved the same time you did (I think it was you...) back in the May-June time frame. Biyatch.
-
You can change it if you have the high score for the week. Hmmm, TUS? I'm already The Ravaged Sphincters. My team sucks.
-
So I'm guessing they cut his ass or he's out for the year. Yay! Doh!
-
I'm all for the 30 minute clock for people that timed out the first time. These things really shouldn't take too long if people are paying attention.
-
Also, I wanted Az Hakim.
