  1. I agree. Puntjack, you almost seem determined to get rid of LT. Do you feel that his value will diminish that much this year?

I don't feel compelled to get rid of him now, I'm just trying to gauge what others view as his "value" in this league. I'm always looking to make my team better for the medium-term (2-5 years), so if there's a deal that makes me younger and nets me some draft picks, I'm usually up for at least investigating it as much as possible.

Actually, on the contrary, I think I would need to get bowled over to deal Tomlinson right now. I have some very good, high draft picks along with arguably the best group of keepers in the league, so I think I have a great shot to win a title this year.

  2. The guy who has Lynch doesn't really have much else to go along with him (no other keeper-worthy RBs). At WR, he has Colston, Calvin Johnson and Brandon Marshall.

What are your thoughts on offering him LT2 and Brandon Jacobs for Lynch, a 5th this year and a 5th next year? Would you take the deal if he asked to throw out the 2nd draft pick?

  3. It's hard to say without seeing both rosters. I think you need to come out of the deal with a good RB that isn't too far of a drop from LT and a significant upgrade at another position like WR to make a deal.

The players that I mentioned are the only ones that had any keeper potential.

  4. I don't think you get enough for LT in that deal. I might consider a deal for Portis if you get something better to go with him than a 6th round pick.

What do you think is a deal that makes sense for me? I stared at it for a while and couldn't come up with anything. The only thing I can think of is extra draft picks, but I already have two 5th, a 6th and two 7th round picks, so I'm thinking I should have a pretty good chance of making a title run this year.

  5. In a league where we keep up to 4 players, giving up our 1st 4 draft picks, I have the following trade offer...

Tomlinson for Maroney (or Portis) and 6.04 (or a 6th round pick next year)

Here my keepers right now are Tomlinson, Gore, Braylon Edwards and either Derek Anderson, Brandon Jacobs or Wes Welker. His team includes Carson Palmer, Maroney, Portis, Larry Fitzgerald and Chad Johnson.

I'm leaning towards declining the offer right now, but want to get a feel for others' views on Tomlinson in this type of league.

  6. For our league we actually don't have an auctioneer. We have a poker style auction where the bid goes around the table. We do this since we have about 5 guys not able to make the draft and I don't trust the internet to do a live draft over the internet. If someone's internet goes down, it sucks.

I'd be interested to hear how this works. I don't know exactly what you mean by poker-style auction.

  7. live auctions always better! but i used fa last year worked pretty well. i only had one problem was that the timer sound cut out and my timer froze after a while of drafting. it was annoying but when it was a player i wanted i counted myself. it happened both days. we had a two day draft. i never lost out on a bid. i dont think it was my computer because i dont have problems with it. we had 12 guys and a few times we would pause the draft in order for guys to re-enter the room for some reason.

So, did everyone have to be on their own computer? How many picks did you go through? I'm looking at doing an entire 300-player initial draft, so I'm trying to get a gauge on how long to anticipate it taking.

  8. I'm looking into possibly running an online auction draft through fantasyauctioneer.com I've never done an auction draft before and it looks like about the only site available for running an auction draft. Has anyone used it before? What was your experience? Does it go over better than doing live auctions? Have you experienced problems with it before? Were the issues resolved quickly?

    Thanks for your help.

  9. My advice is to drop the auction and salary cap parts. Just draft straight up and let people build their teams with trades and the rookie drafts. The whole point of a dynasty league is to try and build a team that can win consistantly for many years. If you have a salary cap that will keep owners from building a great team and some may lose interest. I wouldn't play in a dynasty league that restricted my ability to build my team.

Thanks, but that doesn't help. I see too many problems with a straight drafting league. My frustration with straight drafting leagues has led me to trying to start an auction drafting salary cap league.

  10. What do you want to know?

I'm just trying to get ideas about roster sizes, the way you handle franchise players, increasing retained player salaries from year to year, etc. Do you have a team owner expectation section? How do you handle trade vetoes, if you allow them? Do you have and use a taxi squad? Injured reserve? If so, how do you use them?

    Thanks for any help.

  11. I want to start an auction-drafting salary cap based dynasty league. Having never done this before, I need help from some experienced commishes and/or owners who would be willing to share their league constitution, lessons learned, etc.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

  12. Start 2 WR, 2 RB, no penalty for INT, 6 points per passing TD

    My team

    QB: Kitna, Favre

RB: Gore, Edge, Morency, Peterson (CHI), Leon Washington

    WR: Plax, Wayne, Driver

    His team:

    QB: Brady

    RB: Foster, Graham, Droughns, Henry

    WR: Moss, Battle, Glenn, Walker

He obviously needs help at WR and RB. He has offered Moss and Henry for Plax and Wayne. I've been a big subscriber to the theory of "whoever gets the best player wins the trade" for a long time. I think this gives me a championship-type lineup, but I'm worried about the Patriots clinching early and not having Moss for the playoffs. And, Moss hasn't played a full season in a while.

    Thoughts?

  13. I agree with the prior comments. Manning in round 1 really puts you behind the 8-ball at RB and WR. This is a year where I really see 6 QBs who could be really big and the difference between Manning and the other 5 isn't big enough for me to draft him 2 or 3 rounds before them.

I think that RB2 and the WR positions are going to frustrate you all year.

This is definitely a team that could be HUGE or could be awful, depending on the breaks you get. Either way, I don't see it being a consistent enough roster to win a championship.

  14. 4-player keeper, won the championship last year. Last pick in each round (straight draft). 4 points per passing TD. Start 3 WRs, no flex, no PPR. Acquired the 5.11 pick in a trade earlier this year.

Overall Pos Player Name Team Bye

12 RB LaDainian Tomlinson SD 7

24 RB Frank Gore SF 6

36 RB Brandon Jacobs NYG 9

48 WR Larry Fitzgerald ARI 8

59 WR Deion Branch SEA 8

    60 DEF Chicago Bears 9

72 WR Braylon Edwards CLE 7

84 RB Ladell Betts WAS 4

96 RB Michael Turner SD 7

108 WR Kevin Curtis PHI 5

120 QB Alex Smith (QB) SF 6

132 TE Heath Miller PIT 6

144 QB Steve McNair BAL 8

156 WR Troy Williamson MIN 5

168 TE Bo Scaife TEN 4

    180 K Dave Rayner GB 7

I love the RB depth and WR depth. TE might be a little weak and QB is going to be a struggle all year, but the top 6 QBs were kept already, so there wasn't any good talent left at that position.

  15. RB Frank Gore SF 6

    RB Edgerrin James ARI 8

    WR Reggie Wayne IND 6

    RB Cadillac Williams TB 10

    WR Donald Driver GB 7

    WR Plaxico Burress NYG 9

    QB Jon Kitna DET 6

    TE Alge Crumpler ATL 8

    RB Vernand Morency GB 7

    DEF Miami Dolphins 9

RB Adrian Peterson (CHI) CHI 9

    QB Brett Favre GB 7

    TE Heath Miller PIT 6

    K Josh Brown SEA 8

12-team league, 4 points for passing TDs, non-PPR, start 2 WR, no flex position, no penalties for INT or fumble.

I like my depth at RB with 4 potential opening day starters. I like my WRs. My QBs could be better, but with the QB scoring, I feel like QBs are relatively unimportant.

  16. Thanks for the input, everyone. It's just hard to keep Addai knowing that he shared a bye week with Gore, so I'm probably only going to get one week's use out of him. At least if I get a 5th round pick this year and next, I can keep Jacobs (use him for at least two weeks this year) and grab two very good WRs to pair with Fitz both this year and next.

Gore, LT2, Jacobs, Fitz and then two 5th round WRs would definitely be an odds on favorite to win the league for the next two years.

But, no matter what happens, it's a good position to be in.
