  1. I am in a similar situation record-wise, but I think that your team is more solid.

You could look at adding depth, but I don't think that will win you championships. The reality is that your team should be good enough to take you to the playoffs and you will need to have some good weeks in the playoffs. Right now, it is unlikely that you could pull together a trade that will bring you a stud with enough potential to be better than LJ (unless you find a total chump). As such, I would ride the slowness in numbers for the next few weeks and hope that he regains some semblance of himself during the 2nd half of the season.

Thanks for your insight. I kind of wanted to hear "Yeah, you should be able to trade him for LT."

Ah well, perhaps he'll turn it around. I just gotta hope my aerial assault can keep up the pace, or something close to it.

  2. basically a newbie owner panicked and sent a searching email to the league for offers for LJ. I offered Wayne and he accepted. should i feel bad?

does it matter that i'm the commish of the league? that it's a dynasty league? when i saw that email go out i jumped afraid someone would beat me to the opportunity

it's done now, i'm not going to go back and noone's asking me to. the only discomfort is when i speak to people they bring it up as "almost unethical". just wondering about opinions on the matter

They said "almost" unethical. You're okay.

It's early in the season. Plus, you didn't give away Amani Toomer for him. Sheesh. Looks fine to me.

  3. First off, I'm a fortunate owner of LJ that has started off 2-0. My RB core isn't really anything to write home about. I veered off RB/RB this year. But so far so good.

Anyway, I got this itch that says "trade the bum", but then of course I have the scratch that says "dont do it, 2-0, and he aint done squat yet"

Then I get here, and I see the LT, LJ and SJAX post. From reading that, I see lots of hope for LT and SJAX, but everyone basically sh!tting on LJ. Not the most comforting of reads.

I'm in a 12 team redraft, picked 3rd, and my starting lineup is as follows:

QB - Palmer ( Green on bench ) :overhead:

WR - Moss, 85 ( Bruce on bench )

RB - LJ, Julius ( yuck ) :shocking: --- ( Fragile, Chatman and Bennett on bench )

    TE - Heap

Flex - WR Calvin "Megatron" Johnson

    K - Wilkins

    DEF - Cheaters

I think I'm okay for now. Do the experts and non-experts think it is wise to hold LJ, or possibly try and get something in return for him now, while he still has somewhat of a name? I got 2 roads, both look okay, just want to see the road that more people will travel on.

    Thanks for reading.

  4. There are some LJ doubters still lurking. They like to point out that LJ will be a disappointment because he could never continue playing at the record breaking pace he was on in 05.

Heres some news for the haters:

We are 1/4 of the way thru the season and Larry Johnson is on pace for 1536 yards rushing, 928 yards receiving. That would be an NFL record for most yards from scrimmage in a single season at 2464 yards.

Thanks for the early morning headline Shirona. :D

  5. She's actually bald. The hair she was wearing was nothing more than golden horse flanks stapled to Joe Dirts mullet, and painted black.

I dont think I've ever seen anything so bad, ever. To twist a quote from Harold and Kumar movie -

    "How did the hair look?"

"Remember the holocaust, it was just like that"

  6. Leave your opinions, and I will do the same. Thanks for looking!!!!

Note - I am thinking of dropping Kitna and picking up Favre. He went undrafted.

    Thanks for any input!!!

  7. We have no real rules but it is stated at the beginning of the year that you must play to win. This only comes into play towards the end of the season though as some teams are mathematically eliminated freom playoff contention and may purposely tank to let their buddy get a much needed win.

If you are believed to be sandbagging then every other GM gets to kick you in the balls.

"You play to win the game, you dont just play to play" - Herm

I get it now, thanks Crackhead Bob.

  8. Tiki - Safest pick. Has proven that he will consistently put up very good numbers. Also catches a lot of balls. Jacobs will give you headaches though, which is why as soon as I see evidence out of D.C. that Portis is ready, I'm dropping Tiki back down to #5.

Portis - I'm not ready to drop him any further than #5. I've seen a number of former NFL'ers who say this injury is being blown out of proportion. The latest word off the wire is that he's already rehabbing it (I can provide a link if necessary) so this tells me that his injury isn't as bad as everyone's making it out to be.

S-Jax - Okay, looks like a beast in the making, right? I agree. Still, he hasn't proven himself year in and year out like Tiki and Portis. It's been said that you won't win your league with your 1st round pick, but you can lose your league with it. Given this reality, I'll always take the steady sure thing over the potential stud in the making. Sure, I always tend to draft conservatively. But... I always tend to win*

Thank you Shakespear, this was very informative.

  9. T. Barber is contemplating retirement after the season, hopefully that means he has fully dedicated himself to running through NFL defenses one final time. Check out his stats from the past few seasons, imo, passing on him would be a huge mistake in this spot. My gut tells me that the ridiculous numbers of carries has caught up to LT, and Tiki will outperform him this season. The only problem with Tiki as the #4 pick, is the lack of a certified handcuff. I don't think Jacobs has what it takes to be an every down back.

Season Team Att Yard TD Rec Yard TD FFPts FFPts/G

    2004 NYG 322 1,518 13 52 578 2 295.6 18.5

    2005 NYG 357 1,860 9 54 530 2 303.0 18.9

If these numbers do not impress, the production you get out of Ronnie Brown/Jackson with this pick certainly will not.

Those numbers do impress me, and I bet a few others as well, but for those years....If you take those out of the equation, and go by "upside" ( I know thats a curse word around here ) then people might be better off with Sjax or RBrown this year, also considering the division and schedules of each player as well.

Yep, it sure is fun being the proud owner of pick number 4
