  1. It's interesting you brought this up because I am feeling the same way. Actually started not caring as much last season and I thought about bailing before this one. I have been a commissioner for a competitive league for approximately 20 years. Most of the teams have been in the league since the beginning as well. What's weird is my schedule hasn't changed much in the last few years but I just find myself not wanting to spend as much time on it as I did in the past. I just don't care about it that much anymore. A victory was joyous and a loss heartbreaking....now neither really matter. I think its time

  2. Many good points on both sides of this that's causing my brain to swell. I feel pulling the trigger on one of the elite QB's is easier towards the back of the draft so let me ask you all this. If you are sitting with the 1st or 2nd pick in a traditional snake draft, are you picking one of the top 3 QB's over one of the top couple rated RB's knowing your second pick isn't coming until the end of the 2nd?

  3. Think I am going to chime in here as well...I think more luck is needed than anything and I don't know if one way is better over the other. Having one of the big three QB's doesn't guarantee you anything. I am in a 6pt TD passing league and I lead the entire league in scoring and I did NOT have Manning, Brees, Rodgers, or everyone's golden boy Graham. As a matter of fact my 1st 4 draft picks were D. Martin, S. Ridley, R. Bush, and D. Amendola. OUCH that looks even worse in print. To add insult to injury I also had Gronk so my team was a MASH unit. The team that had manning's record breaking performance didn't win our league either.

Someone mentioned it being a crap shoot picking a QB in the middle rounds and to that I say it's even a bigger crap shoot trying to pick quality starting RB's & WR's in the middle rounds. I would much rather take my chances filling out my roster with the other skill positions and later draft QB's such as Ryan, Romo, Cutler, Newton, Luck. They can be had several rounds later.

I agree the NFL is continuing to move to more of a passing league. Not only does that make the elite more attractive it also allows for some of the lesser know QB's to have the ability to throw for 4000+ and 30+. A few years back very few could eclipse this mark and now multiple times per season. Now we are getting into the 5000 range.

Maybe we can revisit this post after the season and compare

  4. Our league does it by points scored in said given week. Might not be the most fairest way but after nearly 20 years in this league nobody has ever complained. That's the good thing about having a horrible week. If you scored the fewest points you will be first to claim a free agent regardless of your record.

  5. Sorry, dude. I guess you could poll your league and see what everyone else thinks. Kinda hard when there's no policy in place.

There is a tie breaker policy in place. I just didn't think having more wins would actually mean we have the same record based on the situation. I lose the tie breaker

  6. Well, just out of curiosity, what is your tiebreaker policy in the case that 2 teams have the same exact record?

I believe it starts head to head which we will be tied and then moves to division record which I will then lose. Looks like I am on the wrong end of this and my season is over.

    Thanks for everyone's responses

  7. All my years of playing fantasy football this is a first. Another team and I are battling for the final playoff spot in our division. As of now here are our records.

My record is 7 wins and 5 losses

His record is 7 wins and 3 losses and 2 ties (unbelievable)

We play each other this coming week. If I beat him I will have more wins but he has less losses. Of course we both have differing opinions on who should move on if I win this game. So let me hear what you guys have to say. Who moves on???

  8. I have Gronkowski as a keeper and was curious to how crazy it would be to think about targeting Hernandez as well? Maybe I have had a couple too many cold ones this evening, but what are your thoughts? I could start one of them as a wide receiver and I am thinking maybe that is not too crazy of an idea. I could keep him from gettiing on another roster, but I guess it would depend on where I could get him. I am the 1st pick so only chance I would have is with the 1st pick in the 3rd. But with the receiver pool as deep as it is, it may be something to consider.

Let's hear it. Go ahead and tell me I'm nutz!

  9. I think everyone is still having an Adrian Peterson hangover. When he came out I was lucky enough to grab him in the 6th round. Since that time I see Ryan Matthews, Mark Ingram, Shonn Green, Reggie Bush, etc. being drafted early with very little payoff. I'm in Ohio so I know Richardson will go WAY too early. As others have said, I hope he does well, but he won't be on my team because no way he falls to where I would feel comfortable drafting him.

  10. We've had a keeper league for years and have tweaked it for the liking. As a matter of fact, we haven't changed anything about it in years. Here is what we do. 10 team league and you get to keep 2 guys. You are allowed to keep the year you draft the player and 2 more years and then must throw back into the draft. Also, we cannot keep anyone drafted in the 1st three rounds. Before we added this layer Lamont Jordan went number one overall. That is when we realized we had a problem and our live drafts were not very fun anymore.

Whatever round you draf a player, you have to give up an earlier round pick in next years draft and a round earlier the following. Also, free agent pickups can be kept for a 4th rounder. If you have two players to keep in the same round such as the 4th, then you have to give up a 3rd and 4th.

Pretty simple and it really keeps the fun in the league because all the normal studs come back into the draft. This forces you to find the hidden gems. I drafted Stafford in the 8th and Gronk in the 9th last year so I am starting out with those two players and only giving up a 7 and an 8. Took Peterson in the 6th round his rookie year!

  11. I have the first pick as well and I think I am going to get laughed at when I make my selection. I have Matthew Stafford and Gronk as my keepers and even though I need a great RB, Calvin Johnson may be the answer for me. I think it just comes down to your leagues scoring. With the NFL gearing towards the passing game, Calvin has got to get some strong looks at #1.

Like I said, I will probably get laughed out of the draft and off of this board for this thinking!

  12. For those who have drafted, what round has Benson been going in? I am in a keeper league where you can keep 2 players not drafted in the 1st 3 rounds. I only have to give up a 6th round pick for him, but as bad as Cincy is, that might actually be too high. Last year was painful and the team is in more disaray than last year.

I would rather let another team have this headache!

Please let me know what you all are seeing.

    Thanx
