  1. ty.....next time i will post there...actually i may post it there again..lol! But it is NOT a PPR league! I was leaning towards caddy because of upside but love lamont for his 3rd down status and goal-line carries!

    thank you for the reply

Go with what you think. Remember that this is your team, you should pick the guys that you feel the best about. In all honesty, I don't think that there is a big difference between the two backs. As far as 3rd down and near the goal line, Alstott was going to retire at the end of last year and Caddy has been working on his recieving skills.

  2. Is it a PPR league? If so then I may lean towards Jordan, but its hard to pass on Caddy since Gruden has alot of faith in him and he showed flashes of being an amazing back last year. Can he stay healthy? It seems alot of his problems last year resulted from poor foot support, which he corrected this year by having Nike mold a shoe to fit his foot instead of the "off the rack" shoes he wore last year. Also tampa has a tough schedule this year, but Oakland looks like it may not have improved as much as they would have liked from last year. That being said, I own both in a keeper league and if I was forced to make a decision I would go with Caddy due to the upside.

*For future reference, this post should go on the Help board*

  3. Thanks guys, I'm thinking I'll go with Harrison. Chad = consistent Harrison = consistent. I know I'll be getting very solid points from my WR every week. I just hope I don't regret not taking a starting RB with a much improved line and a "new" pro-bowl caliber FB.

  4. So here is the league setup

Roster Positions: QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, RB/WR, TE, K, DEF

    Points

    Passing

    Yards: 25 yards per point

    Touchdowns (6)

    Interceptions (-2)

    Rushing

    Yards: 10 yards per point

    Touchdowns (6)

    Recieving

    Yards: 10 yards per point

    Touchdowns (6)

    2-Point Conversions (2)

    Fumbles Lost (-2)

My Keepers: Lamont Jordan, Caddilac Williams, Chad Johnson.

So the league has changed from 2RB 2WR to 2RB 2WR Flex. Obviously the guaranteed touches a RB gets will make using a 3rb very important. I have the 2nd pick in the draft and the first player to go will be Bush. Looking at Rosters I know that Randy Moss, Marvin Harrison and Chester Taylor will be there for me to pick up. Getting Moss or Harrison in what is essentially the fourth round is a steal and under last years rules it would be a no brainer. However I think Taylor is going to have a good year and will be a solid #2 running back. Do I take one of the recievers or take Chester and have a very, very solid running back squad? If I take Harrison or Moss I will be left with horrible options for a 3RB, its a heavy RB keeper league.

Any help would be really appreciated

  5. I'll play Devils advocate and say why not McGahee?

If you think Buffalo has a chance to turn their offense around, McGahee has the ability to be a top 5 back. Plus its not like he can't catch the ball, he just has nobody to throw it to him (right now).

I think westbrook right now is near his top potential and if you are happy with that then go for it. McGahee has way more upside but you can't tell if its going to kick in.

If all you are concerned with is receptions, what WR do you think will fall to you when you pick?

  6. Corrected (Changed Boldin to Fitz)

I'd keep Holt, Fitz, and Brown. most likely the owners of Shockey and Gonzo will face a similar dilema, and I like the depth of servicable Te's, available late this season.

Thanks for catching the mistake. I guess if you accidently switch up WRs these guys are the ones to do it with. I'll have to be more careful around you savy veteran posters

  7. Thanks for the advice.

Its good to hear it presented from different sides. I guess its more that I want to believe that Tayor will be the next Lamont Jordan.

Its so tempting since Minnesota has actively tried to improve their offense and their offensive line, it seems like they are dedicated to running the ball this year. But its true that you want to see it before you believe it. Its just that we had a very similiar situation in Oakland last year with Jordan and I want another player with that success

  8. I'd Go with the Stud WR's and Brown. I don't know who will be available but I doubt Brown will fall that far to you in the first round. I think you can find good value for TE later in the drafts. Probably not Gates like production, but who knows what going to happen with Gates numbers this year anyway. I don't see Holt or Boldins production going down. I think a more balanced attack in St. Louis will help Holt.

  9. You have some flexibility since you have the #2 pick. Gates and Taylor both have question marks going into the season. How will Gates be affected with Rivers at the helm of the offense and how will Taylor be used in Minnesota by a new coaching staff with Mewelde and Fason in the mix? Personally, I think there is less risk involved with Gates. I also agree with you letting KJones go, he doesn't have enough value to make one of your keepers.

The game you have to play here is deciding what the guy with the #1 pick will do. If you release Taylor, do you think the guy with the #1 pick would take him or would Taylor be available to you at #2? Same question with Gates. A core of Caddy, Taylor, CJohnson, and Gates would set you up for a good year. On the turn you can pick up another WR and either a high potential rookie RB or QB.

So I know that the guy with the first pick is going to go Bush. Granted that could all be a show, but I don't think he is that subtle. Chester would be available to me with the second pick. I guess it boils down to if I think the advantage Gates gives me over another top player at the position (WR) or a rookie that may be a future keeper. I know I could snag a good TE later in the draft (Shockey/Gonzalez won't be kept and going off years past they would be available at pick #2 for me).

  10. I would agree with Carmo, keep LT Parker and DJAX. Think of it this way, would you draft Brady in the third round of a non-keeper draft? Unless this is one of the keeper league where you lose a pick based on what round the keeper was selected then its a different story..

  11. I'm not knocking KJ by any means. On the other hand I think the problems with Detroit stems farther than just the coach and that they haven't significantly upgraded anywhere offensively to help with Jones production. Anybody that says QB was significantly upgraded has a different view of significant than me. I think KJ will have a better year than last, I am just tempted too much on the potential of Chester.

Also , RB are at a premium in this league (surprise, surprise) and I doubt that one will fall back into the draft. If one does, I will of course consider him.

  12. So here is the problem, We can keep 3 players in this league. The first two are easy, Caddillac and Chad Johnson. The third keeper is not so easy. Here are the possibilities: Antonio Gates, Chester Taylor, and Kevin Jones. I'm going to eliminate Jones based on the other considerations. Also, I have the second pick in the draft (Bush will in all liklihood be gone).

So do I keep Gates, the hands down best player at the position. Or do I keep Chester Taylor, who in his situation could be a top 15 RB possibly higher behind that line? Given the lineup (3 RB starters if you choose) I think you have to go with Taylor, right.

I won't even start with the Addai, D. Williams, Maroney draft choice. I'll wait till TC starts... (Although I am leaning towards the Addai hype machine). Plus I know I am going to have a shot at Harrison, Moss, or Fitz at the #2 pick. (One guy has all three and Manning so ... He is dying at RB though)

I'd like to have 3 quality RB to start the season, but at the expense of Gates? I doubt he would be there at the end of round two.

Roster Positions: QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, RB/WR, TE, K, DEF

    Points

    Passing

    Yards: 25 yards per point

    Touchdowns (6)

    Interceptions (-2)

    Rushing

    Yards: 10 yards per point

    Touchdowns (6)

    Recieving

    Yards: 10 yards per point

    Touchdowns (6)

    2-Point Conversions (2)

    Fumbles Lost (-2)

Any suggestions/discussions would be greatly appreciated.....
