I guess I don't understand. If you don't think Payton will give talented backs, who are deserving, 200+ carries, I still don't understand why you would draft him..... The value would be right? He'll cost most likely the #1 overall pick in dynasty drafts. If you don't feel strongly about him, why wouldn't you trade that pick/him away? I'm sure someone would pay a nice price for him. Surely there are other spots in the draft where you feel there is more value, or if not that, there other players in the league to trade for where there is more value at Ingrams perceived value by some in your league.... Also, the only other time the Saints drafted a runningback in rd 1 of the draft during Sean Payton's tenure, Sean featured the guy in the offense finding ways to get him the ball 200+ times both his rookie and second year (and that was not a workhorse player). I think if the kid is good, and helps Payton win, he'll give him the rock. And if you don't think he can hold up with 200+ carries, then you shouldn't waste that "value" by drafting him. just my 0.02

World Champion Green Bay Packers Thread
davidbostonisgood replied to donhaas's topic in FFToday Board
Wasn't there a thread last year about people calling Ted Thompson dumb or something? I wonder if those people have eaten their humble pie. -
Why would you buy him in a dynasty? Are you expecting Sean Payton to be fired? Or would you plan on selling Ingram after his rookie year?
-
No, not to early JB. Many will cite the competition for carries/touches, his "lack of explosiveness" referring to mediocre 40-time, his minor knee injury, and some of his success a result of running behind a good Bama line.... But the fact is, he has been productive. He has the instincts and feel for the game. He comes into a high-powered offense. There will be a lot of TDs that somebody is going to get in that offense. The Saints GM has shown to be good in the recent years at finding talent in the draft. That is part of the reason for their success. The fact that he gave up so much as JB said to move up to get this guy says a lot... they really wanted M.Ingram. If Ingram comes in and does what they envision him to be, I would not want to be one of the guys who passed on him in the fantasy draft. Especially in a keeper league.

The offseason is long. When you are passionate about fantasy football, you can find yourself researching and analyzing things at extreme depths.

What a thoroughly flawed pool of players we have to choose from this year

I was hungry and started eating an apple a minute ago... but just threw the second half away because it wasn't any good.

My opinion on it hasn't changed much. Those Patriots teams were solid, and their "advantage" was probably enough to get them over the top and give them 1-3 superbowls they probably would not have otherwise won.

Saying Aaron Rodgers is a system quarterback is like saying I don't like boys.

I know this strays from the topic a little, but I'm trying to figure out if all this Jay Cutler talk will have ripple effects that force me to trade Stephen Davis from my dynasty team.
-
That is probably inappropriate. But back to the original post. Probably right, if Bears had Tebow instead starting the game, probably a different ending. Not sure if the Bears would've won but a much better chance. McDaniels' career reminds me a lot of how BB's started off. He's got talent.

Would the Patriots won last week if they were still getting away with cheating and video taping the other team? Would Tom Terrific had looked better instead of having his feet in cement, and having no awareness or being able to read the defense correctly?
-
Yup donnie, you KNOW they can't win it all if they continue to play DUMB football.

Some guys off the top of my head that I always seemed to like more than everyone else, and that other owners would probably say that I've had man crushes on: Shaun Alexander William Green Stephen Davis Rod Smith Jerry Rice Marcus Robinson Chris Henry Chris Cooley

Non playoff teams putting in waiver claims
davidbostonisgood replied to Johnny Mitchell's topic in FFToday Board
Our league has a simple way around this problem. We take the top 20 available waiver wire players each week and raffle them off. The way to get a raffle "ticket" is to give up one of your own rostered players. It's a little bit of a gamble, because you do not know who you are going to get. To get a good team you have to gamble a bit, and "hit" some of your "raffle tickets." This is the best answer we have come up with for that and other problems. Our season goes through week 16, and we have roster freezes at week 5 (for 2 weeks), 10 (for 1 week), and then finally after week 15. Things get pretty heated in our league, and we've found that the roster freezes gives everyone a chance to calm down. We've found this system to be the best by far in our 16 home town league (still 9 original owners!) Try it out next year and let me know how you like it. -
Agree with kilquid. Also if you want to compare them against their peers, is Jimmy T elgible for this voting, because he ranks top 10 regardless of postion.
-
There's a chance Greene produces some good stats this week. Also, if you haven't seen the Lions play yet this year, just letting you know their defensive line is really good.
-
I could go either way on that one. So I'd probably veto it.

This has all the looks of an Anquan Boldin situation.

I like the move. Don't listen to all the haters. These are people who aren't so great forecasting the future, and are the ones who are clamoring to pick up the latest high scoring free agent.

Fantasy Football played at the highest levels, is a game of instincts. You can crunch the numbers all you want and theorize all you want. But if you are playing at the highest level, you play with your instincts. That's how I've won 5 championships.

Nice league. Are you playing with your grandma's cribbage friends?

I'm starting __________ over AJ this week
davidbostonisgood replied to msudavedawg's topic in FFToday Board
Packers LB Brandon Chillar has been ruled out for Week 4 against Detroit. Chillar typically serves as Green Bay's nickel linebacker, but AJ Hawk, the starting LILB in base packages, will get a chance to prove he's a three-down linebacker after losing nickel duties earlier in the season. Desmond Bishop could replace Hawk on third downs if the former Buckeye is not effective. LOL! That's what you get for working during football season. Wellfare's the way to go from September through March.
