    Well we're focked.

I agree it seems unlikely, but it could happen. LT could have a serious injury with the huge workload he's been carrying & Holt's knee could be slow to recover, putting him in "game time decision" mode all season. Lynch could underwhelm & end up splitting carries 70%/30% or even 50%/50% on a subpar Buffalo offense. Owens could have a personality blow up and get sent home just in time for his team to miss the last playoff slot Even if none of that happens, he is definitely not guaranteed to win the regular season, much less the playoffs. If it makes you feel any better ... last year in a 10 team I drafted first: 1.01 LJ 2.10 Terrell Owens 3.01 Torry Holt 4.10 Corey Dillon 5.01 Warrick Dunn 6.10 Nate Burleson 7.01 Terry Glenn 8.10 Daunte Culpepper 9.01 Benjamin Watson ... LJ wasn't LT, but if you can get the #2/#3 player with the #1 pick that's not bad. I was overjoyed to see Owens and Holt fall to 2.10 and 3.01, but I was left with questionable 2nd rb pickings and Dillon and Dunn were just mediocre. Burleson was a huge mistake on my part, but our league didn't let anyone of Holt's quality fall ... so not much of a (predictable) upgrade would have been available. Daunte tanked and Ben Watson had a slow start, so I needed waiver wire acquisitions of Jon Kitna and Marques Colston (yes I abused him at TE ) to get me going again. I finished 3rd place in the regular season and lost in the playoff semifinals. Your #1 team pick has even less depth at RB than I did, so if Lynch doesn't pan out, he's not a lock for the playoffs at all despite the stellar wr core. He does have better QB options with both Young and Hasselbeck, though I would have taken another RB instead of Hasselbeck. Someone should have taken Holt before the 5th though ... risk included, he still seems worth at worst a late 3rd or early 4rth round pick. Also remember that while LT is definitely the consenus pre-season #1 pick, but it's highly unlikely he'll aproach his #'s from last year. It's much more realistic to project him slightly above what Steven Jackson and Larry Johnson did last year.

    Mock Draft: PManning and Gates

Just finished a Mock Draft (redraft, performance scoring, 10 teams, starters are 1QB 2RB 3WR 1TE 1K 1DEF) where I picked 10th (Pecos Rattlers). I'm a believer in drafting best available value & not grabbing rb just because they are rb ... but I'm not entirely happy with the results. Did I wreck my team by taking Manning and Gates or am I just not used to seeing the value at QB and TE instead of RB/WR? Was I unlucky with the run on wr before I picked my top two at 5.10/6.01 or would you expect that in a real draft? I would feel tons better if I had javon walker (5.07) and colston (5.09) instead of coles and darrel jackson. In hindsight I might replace coles with hines ward (6.03) ... I was bit on tilt when the 5 wr I had preranked were all taken right before my pick I was also suprised to see no one take a QB after manning until 4.03 (Carson Palmer) & the second tight end didn't go off the board until 8.05: Vernon Davis of all people. I am not particularily happy with Caddy as my 2nd rb: I had wanted either Edge or TJones, but hadn't completely expected them to drop to me at 3.10 either. Overall it seemed like the draft was a huge series of runs ... people took a ton of RB up front, even 3 straight & then took a ton of wr without any other positions making up a substantial # of players until rounds 6+. This pretty much why I didn't get the value I expected out of WR at 5.10 and 6.01, but I'm not sure if it'll hold true in a real draft or not. Positional breakdown by round: 1: 10RB 2: 1QB 4WR 5RB 3: 3WR 7RB 4: 1TE 2QB 5WR 2RB 5: 3QB 7WR 6: 1QB 3WR 6RB 7: 1QB 1DT 6WR 2RB 8: 2TE 1QB 1DT 4 WR 2RB 9: 5TE 2WR 3RB ... Yup. However, you forgot NFL Man of the Year & most likely to impregnate more hot women than Tom Brady.

    is MJD the man?

There aren't very many mocks up on Ant Sports yet, though I see him at 18th rb, 3.09 in one 12 team configuration that actually has data (from only 4 mocks though). I think that's reasonable, if a bit higher than I'd like to take him. I've seen him all over the teens in rb listings posted here. Scott Engel of ESPN has him ranked as the 15th best rb: espn Brandon Funston's big board has him at 14 overall, 13th rb based on the results of 4 "expert" mock drafts he participated in, though he actually has MJD ranked higher than any of the mocks: yahoo

    is MJD the man?

I wouldn't count on MJD for more than about 1000-1100 total yards and 8-10 tds ... however, there's huge upside if Taylor is hurt/tired/too old this year. I'd rather not take a gamble on him as early as most will draft him though.

    RB's by tier

I realize it's ppr. Fred Taylor is on the list at #23 At best, I believe Lamont Jordan will split carries with Rhodes and the offense will be putrid again and he has injury history ... so I didn't put him on the list. I like MJD, but I think they will go with Fragile Freddie as the starter for one more year. I also think MJD's touchdowns were an aberration last year. I believe Morency will remain the starter in GB ... that's not a huge value, but he should be in the top 36. It's possible that Brandon Jackson will be the starter, in which case your ranking of him seems reasonable too. We'll have a better idea in a few months.

    Greatest NFL Offensive Single Season:

What about Terrell Davis's 1998 Season where he rushed for 2008 yards and 21 TDs? Sure he got hurt and didn't keep the #'s up, but that one season was incredible. To top it off, no one else has both rushed for 2000 yards in one season and scored 20 tds in another season, much less in the same season. I think LT, Manning & Marino's seasons are better, but TD's should be on the list anyway.

Trade accepted 3 weeks after offer - owner wants to back out

I suggest you request owner 2 let owner 1 back out because it's a bastard thing to do. If owner 2 refuses then you have to make the trade stand. The only exception I could see is if one of owner 2's players in the trade was injured and he immediately accepted the trade before owner 1 knew of the injury ... but given that owner 1 forgot about the trade completely, this doesn't seem the case. Out of curiousity, which players are involved?

Colston at TE/WR in Yahoo sports...What do I do as Commissioner?

This is not a stupid error, rather it is consistent with Yahoo's long term rules for position eligibility. You may think they never should have had him TE eligible in the first place, but that is where he was scouted and Yahoo allows drafts before the Preseason begins (where it became obvious he was going to get WR looks). With respect to letting the website dictate the league rules: the website dictates the default rules for your league. If you didn't tell everyone that there were exceptions to the website rules, then you are implying that they are the rules for your league. You are certainly welcome to not like them and do one of the following, in order of desirability: 1 Choose another website whose rules meet more closely with your desires 2 Tell all league members that you as commisioner will be enforcing a rule contrary to the website's default ruleset before the season, so that they make their draft and WW decisions based on the correct ruleset. 3 Rule M. Colston a WR only before the fantasy draft, based on his preseason play & communicate this to the entire league. Arbitrarily changing the rules during the season based on whining is the last thing a commisioner should be doing & will only lead to more whining & pleading for intervention.
  12. Pecos Rattlers

Colston at TE/WR in Yahoo sports...What do I do as Commissioner?

Yahoo's retaining Colston's TE eligibility is consistent with their position eligibility rules. As commisioner you should inform the other players of these rules and leave it at that. Depending on their level of maturity, you might be able to reduce their whining if you explain that forcing the Colston owner to start him at WR only would be breaking the eligibility rules set up by Yahoo and adversely affects the savy owner who is relying on the rules being enforced consistently (probably dropped or traded other valuable tight end) just to cover for their ignorance.

    Travis Henry/TJDuckett

Ouch. I hope Denver at least makes good use of the draft pick gift they received. Washington has been very generous in that department during the Synder era.

Need Opinions for Ruling on a Trade

It sounds like your league has never had issues like this before, but do you have a trade policy of some kind? If you have a policy that states all trades are allowed unless there is collusion or dumping then you have to allow it. Otherwise, I would try to convince the SA owner to back out. If that fails, I suggest letting the league vote instead of cancelling it yourself.
  15. Pecos Rattlers

    1 Week Bye Trade

They traded on immediate gain & based on an understanding to trade back later rather than the values of the players in question: this makes it an illegal trade and collusion in my mind. Given that it didn't help and you didn't have a rule against it for the last twelve years, you should probably not penalize them too harshly, if at all. Just change the rule so no one will be tempted to make another trade like that.

    Thinking of Offering this Trade.

I am considering trading Terry Glenn & Warrick Dunn or Corey Dillon (from my team) for Hines Ward and Duece McAllister in a 10 team league with no flex, start 2rb, 3wr. 0.3 points per reception. 10pts rush/rcv Am I crazy to give up RB depth for Hines Ward? I am pretty sure it's a net gain for him, since he desparately needs a solid RB 2 and Glenn is good enough to fill in at WR. The question is, do I get enough value from the trade to justify the loss of my primary backup RB? I have the following rb/wr: (starters) L. Johnson C. Dillon T. Holt T. Owens N. Burleson (bench) W Dunn (will start some weeks, depending on matchup) L. Maroney T. Glenn (may start when dallas has a great matchup) M. Bell E. Moulds B. Lloyd He has: (starters) R. Brown (mia rb) D. McAllister S. Smith H. Ward R. Brown (phi wr) (bench) V. Morency (He had D. Davis and someone beat him to Lundy.) D. Givens K. Johnson He also has a backup TE, K, DEF (autodraft cause he always forgets about the draft, but he is a decent player rest of the year.)
  19. Pecos Rattlers

Drop V. Morency for T.J. Duckett?

You have a lot of depth, so I would go for potential & T.J. more upside if Portis reinjures his shoulder than if Morency wins the job/Lundy is hurt. Hit me back? http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=229351

    Do I make this deal.....

I think Moss will have good year, but Burleson has big potential if Jackson can't stay healthy. I don't see the upside unless you are doubtful of Burleson's adjustment to Seattle and certain Barber will win the job in Dallas to mitigate your loss of Rhodes. I would decline.
