  1. That isn't accurate, from a Google search: However, it's important to clarify the context of these arrests. The arrests weren't specifically for being "in public" in general, but rather for violations of the stay-at-home order or other public health directives. While it's stated that Newsom issued the stay-at-home order, the arrests resulting from violating it were carried out by law enforcement, not directly ordered by Newsom himself.

    Burn LA burn!!

L.A. still not burning. Hasn't happened outside of some vehicle fires. Nothing to see here. Carry on.
  5. Meh. Covered in another thread. Try to keep up,
  6. These are career criminals, opportunists that probably have no poltical affiliation, aren't registered to vote and nothing to do with the protests or the cause. They just want to steal free stuff. We saw this in 2020 in L.A. and we are seeing it again.
  7. No, It does not appear that George Floyd was resisting arrest: From a Google search asking if George Floyd resisted arrest: No, witness accounts and video footage show that George Floyd did not resist arrest. In fact, Floyd was trying to defuse the situation and seemed to be cooperating with the officers. Elaboration: Expert Testimony: An expert witness in the trial of Derek Chauvin, the officer who kneeled on Floyd's neck testified that Floyd was not actively resisting arrest when he was restrained, and that he was not a threat to anyone's safety. Witness Accounts: Maurice Lester Hall, a passenger in Floyd's car, told the New York Times that Floyd was pleading with the officer, trying to explain himself and show he wasn't resisting. Surveillance Video: Surveillance video from the store where the incident occurred shows Floyd seemingly compliant with the officers' instructions, including getting out of the car and walking.
  8. The best thing Trump could do for Gavin Newsom's political career would be to arrest him - it would make Newsom the immediate front runner for the 2028 Democratic Party POTUS nominee.

    Trump's Cognitive Decline and Health

Instigated? By whom? The protests/riots were instigated by Trump/Holman arresting Latinos outside of Home Depot(s) and those who showed up for immigration appointments with the government. It was ICE who set the wheels in motion that started all this.
  10. They didn't stand down. There were over 14,000 arrests. From a Google search: By the end of June 2020, at least 14,000 people were arrested in connection with the George Floyd protests across the United States, according to a Washington Post analysis. Some reports indicate that the number of arrests was even higher, with one report suggesting over 10,000 arrests in the early stages of the protests.
  11. Newsom calls Trump and Homan's bluff. Let's see if they back up their tough talk.
  12. From the L.A. Times https://www.latimes.com/california/live/national-guard-troops-la-immigration-ice-clashes-paramount ‘I don’t give a damn’: Newsom responds after Trump’s border czar threatens to arrest him California Gov. Gavin Newsom clapped back at threats made by President Trump’s “border czar,” who has said he would not rule out arresting Newsom for obstructing immigration enforcement. “Come after me, arrest me, let’s just get it over with, tough guy,” Newsom said on MSNBC on Sunday evening. “I don’t give a damn, but I care about my community.” Tom Homan told NBC News on Saturday that ICE would continue to aggressively go after anyone who interfered with its operations in Los Angeles. “Every day in L.A., we’re going to enforce immigration law,” he told MSNBC. “I don’t care if they like it or not.” When asked whether this would include elected officials such as Mayor Karen Bass or Newsom, he did not back down. “I’ll say it about anybody,” Homan said. “You cross that line, it’s a felony to knowingly harbor and conceal an illegal alien. It’s a felony to impede law enforcement doing their job.” Newsom issued a steely response, telling Homan to come after him and leave hardworking immigrants alone. “Lay your hands off of 4-year-old girls that are trying to get educated,” he said. “Let your hands off of off these poor people just trying to live their lives, paying their taxes, [have] been here 10 years.”

    Burn LA burn!!

Reports in this forum of L.A. burning is greatly exaggerated. Limited so far to some vehicles set on fire. No structures have been involved (yet).
