My liberal friends: who tf are your sources?
squistion replied to Frozenbeernuts's topic in The Geek Club
Um, no it isn't. -
https://x.com/MichaelSteele/status/1901636804534579685 Bullsh!t. The mechanism of signature does not matter. That has already been tested in the courts. “Last year, a federal appeals court said presidential pardons do not even have to be in writing.”

Trump defies the courts, Sends migrants to El Sal Prison
squistion replied to Ron_Artest's topic in The Geek Club
Can you say "Constitutional Crisis"? That is where we are going if he keeps defying court orders. -
If you keep insulting me like that I will put you on ignore.

Haven't dropped much where I am at in L.A. Bought a dozen eggs at Vons/Albertsons yesterday (Vons Lucerne store brand) and the cost was $9.99.

I am sure Biden will make a public statement and verify that he indeed signed them.

They obviously hope that Trump can act like Putin, but we haven't got to that point yet, or at least one would hope not.

Guitarist from The Smiths calls for Trump to stop using their songs at rallies: 'Consider this s--t shut down'
squistion replied to seafoam1's topic in The Geek Club
You hold yourself out as some sort of Rock And Roll expert (ranking the 100 best songs of any given year, etc.) but this blind spot you have with The Smiths really does a number on your credibility to judge music. From Wiki: The Smiths are regarded as one of the most important acts to emerge from 1980s British independent music. From Google: Indie Rock Pioneers: The Smiths are often credited with helping define the sound of indie rock, blending 1960s rock and post-punk elements, and rejecting the synth-pop sound that dominated the time. Aesthetic and Spiritual Influence: Their music, lyrics, and image (especially Morrissey's vocals and Johnny Marr's guitar work) have resonated with generations of musicians, particularly in the indie and alternative music scene. DIY Ethos and Independent Spirit: The band's independent spirit and DIY approach to music-making inspired many artists to pursue their own artistic visions outside of the mainstream music industry. Cultural Impact: The Smiths' influence extended beyond music, impacting fashion, art, and even political discourse. Examples of Bands Influenced by The Smiths: The Stone Roses, Oasis, The 1975, The Libertines, The Killers, Blur, Placebo, AFI, and many others have cited The Smiths as influences. -
House Dem faces backlash for 'promoting physical violence' at DOGE protest
squistion replied to jbycho's topic in The Geek Club
I think most protests either against leftist or rightist policies are a waste of time. However, some (like in the case of the Vietnam War) were successful. -

https://x.com/KvotheTheArcane/status/1901310900247642289 This is it, up until now our government had safety rails. They’re gone now. Trump is, without hyperbole, a lawless authoritarian. If he can defy this court order he can defy any court order. https://apnews.com/article/trump-venezuela-el-salvador-immigration-dd4f61999f85c4dd8bcaba7d4fc7c9af -
US arrests and Deports Antisemitic Jew Hating Palestinian Student In Columbia University protests against Gaza war
squistion replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
Or so we would hope, but with our present SCOTUS we can't be sure of that. The law that he is going after the Venezuelans with is the same one that was used to put US Japanese citizens in internment camps in during WW2 (and that decision was upheld at the timeby SCOTUS in the Koramatsu case). -

squistion replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
One would hope not. It seems more disengenous than dumb. The purpose of this is to discourage/chill protests on all college campuses, starting with immigrants who are here legally, and then probably moving next to immigrants who have become US citizens. -

Protesting (with just a few college students at first) resulted in eventually ending the war in Vietnam and ultimately the draft. I am sure that it was not an isolated incident and there are probably plenty of other examples of protesting leading to a lasting positive change. -

https://x.com/krassenstein/status/1900644529956679809 (video clip of Trump at link) BREAKING: Trump just literally gave a speech at the US Department of justice and stated that CNN and MSNBC are “illegal”. These are the words you’d hear from a fascist dictator. Imagine if Joe Biden went to the DOJ and declared that Fox News and Newsmax were illegal. First, they attack the truth. Then, they attack those who tell it.

US arrests and Deports Antisemitic Jew Hating Palestinian Student In Columbia University protests against Gaza war
squistion replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
Note this source is not named and only described in the NY Post article as a "female graduate student." Also note that the Title VI complaints she claimed to have filed were also done "anonymously" I am skeptical this is a legitimate account and I suspect that it was probably concocted by the NY Post to make Mahmood Khalil look bad. -
At US DOJ, Trump says that CNN and MSNBC are “illegal”
squistion replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
It would not suprise me that at some point Trump will try to have the DOJ shut down the networks for being "Illegal"and they will try to find some law or statute to justify it. -

As I have been saying all along: https://abcnews.go.com/US/experts-palestinian-activist-mahmoud-khalil-deported-due-process/story?id=119756360 Experts say Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil, a green card holder, can't be deported without due process [...] Under the Immigration Nationality Act, which experts say is rarely invoked, the government can charge a green card holder as being deportable without being convicted of a crime if there are reasonable grounds to believe they engaged in certain criminal or terrorist activities. But experts and immigration attorneys ABC News spoke with said the statute does not give the secretary of state the power to deport green card holders like Khalil without going through a procedure. "The way the statute is constructed, it doesn't mean that Secretary Rubio can just say, 'Oh, I determined this, and therefore we're just going to deport you out of the country,'" said Greg Chen of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. "You would still need to go through a process." After the federal government invokes the statute, individuals like Khalil are entitled to argue their case before an immigration judge. Khalil is set to appear before an immigration judge later this month in Louisiana. "There are some due process and protective procedures that the person is entitled to," Chen said, "including being given a notice of the charges, and an opportunity to confront that evidence and to bring his or her own evidence in response." -

If the government doesn't have to explain or give any sort of rationale as to why someone is "a danger to this country" then, theoretically, they can deport any immigrant they want for any reason, whether that person is here legally or not. Be careful what you wish for. -
He and most of the others here are clueless on how this Democratic Republic is supposed to work, per the Constitution.

Nope, I only have one account. And I don't think "Trans Rock" is a music category (I've never heard of it) or if there is, Chappell Roan doesn't qualify as being in it.
