40 percent of young Liberal women want to leave US permanently
squistion replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
The thread title is incorrect (which is often the case with Max) Per Gallup, it is 40% of ALL Younger Women (ages 15-44) who want to leave the US, not just younger liberal women. Weird assumption on the OP's part that it is only younger women who self identify as "liberal" that want to leave this country. https://news.gallup.com/poll/697382/record-numbers-younger-women-leave.aspx -

When the messenger is Gateway Pundit, which has a documented history of posting false news stories that they never retract, you don't have to attack the message as its truthfulness is already suspect and has zero credibility outside of MAGA world. From AI overview: AI Overview The Gateway Pundit has an extensive history of publishing falsehoods, hoaxes, and conspiracy theories. It is widely described by media analysts and fact-checkers as a "fake news website" and an unreliable source of information.

I knew he buried her on one of his golf courses, which was tasteless and disrespectful of the deceased IMO (unless she loved golf and that was her request). But then claiming a tax deduction meant for cemeteries is completely beyond the pale.

That was the best hit piece he could find on Swalwell? Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel.

I imagine he will if they are on his enemies list. Stay tuned.

Of course he is an inhabitant of California. What an absurd accusation. Talk about a nothingburger.

Please. Don't be presumptuous and tell me what you think I believe or don't believe. -

Actually, we do. Unfortunately, many here in this forum and this country don't have an issue with Americans, particularly children going hungry. -
Gov. Gavin Newsom’s chief of staff arrested in FBI public corruption probe
squistion replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
The thread title is incorrect, Dana Williamson is Newsom's ex-Chief Of Staff, not his current one. From the OP: "Williamson, who left the Governor’s Office at the end of 2024" -

Maybe just a coincidence but I'd like to believe Mamdani's election had something to do with this. From NYT (link to subsciber content) https://www.nytimes.com/2025/11/12/nyregion/new-york-city-queens-rezoning.html?campaign_id=60&emc=edit_na_20251112&instance_id=166302&nl=breaking-news&regi_id=125207237&segment_id=210476&user_id=14502a7228c5a9b835a15627514bfe28 City Council Approves Plan That Could Bring 14,700 Homes to Queens The New York plan would open up 54 blocks of Long Island City, which are mostly warehouses and parking lots, to housing. The New York City Council unanimously approved a rezoning on Wednesday that could transform an industrial stretch of Queens into thousands of apartments — private development aimed at addressing the city’s affordable housing crisis. The vote comes a little over a week after the mayoral election, in which housing was a top issue for voters and Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani cruised to victory on a platform of affordability. Under the plan, developers could build nearly 15,000 apartments within 54 blocks of Long Island City that are currently filled with warehouses and parking lots. Seven years ago, left-leaning politicians opposed a plan that would have given incentives to Amazon to build a headquarters in the same neighborhood. The new plan, with its focus on housing and community amenities instead of huge public subsidies for a wealthy company like Amazon, has earned the support of the local councilwoman, Julie Won, and other politicians who did not want the headquarters. The proposal includes nearly hundreds of millions of dollars for parks, public housing, schools, sewers and more. About 30 percent of the housing must be affordable to people of lower or moderate incomes. “We are fully aware that New York City is in an affordable housing crisis and a housing crisis at large,” Ms. Won said on Wednesday. “Long Island City — we will continue to be a leader in the production of new housing.” Mr. Mamdani, whose assembly district includes parts of the rezoning area, said in a statement on Wednesday that the plan was a “victory for Long Island City residents.” [...]

Tim’s thread about anything but politics
squistion replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
As someone told me years ago, Christie wears on you after awhile. Her books have too many characters and are slow moving, which is true of many British writers. Her novels are also very formulistic in that there is intentional misdirection to the point that the murderer is always one you don't suspect and that you have dismissed because they lacked either motive, means or opportunity. -

Tim’s thread about anything but politics
squistion replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
He isn't or rather wasn't IMO. I found his books to be really hit or miss and the reason for that is he didn't use an outline and literally made it up as he went along and wrote each chapter not knowing himself what would happen next or how it was going to end (and many of the books read like it). A quote from Leonard on his approach: "To know too much at the start takes the pleasure out of discovering what the book is about" I read Killshot and IIRC it was one of the few of his that I liked. -

I figured as much, when a link is not provided there is usually a reason.
