Kennedy Center Cancels Gay Men’s Chorus LGBTQIA+ Pride Performance
squistion replied to Patented Phil's topic in The Geek Club
Not all LGBTQ folks "just blend in" or are allowed to and discrimination in the year 2025 is still a very real thing for many. And most, I think, would say that it is part of their identity and not a separate identity, just like skin color is considered part of their identity by many Blacks and Latinos. -
To my undestanding the cause of the crash has not yet been officially determined and is still under investigation. Too early to say that it was due to pilot error.

Maybe because other folks already constantly label them and they want a label of their own choosing. -
Wisconsin bill would replace the word “mother” with “inseminated person”
squistion replied to Patented Phil's topic in The Geek Club
I think you are correct. Found this comment on Reddit: This is a statute about artificial insemination and the language change seems mainly geared towards being unambiguous regarding legal parenthood when there are two women married to each other. -
https://x.com/AOC/status/1893057009190138282 Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez @AOC Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber the oligarchs. And they can be overwhelmed.

luv - Fuwa Fuwa (Live Amazon Music Studio 2024) Japanese band that describes themselves as "Neodisco" although this has some jazz pop touches to it. They definitely got the Nile Rodgers 70's guitar driven dance vibe down. -
https://x.com/GregTSargent/status/1893269812559728648 Remarkable: Trump's own pollster just found that in swing House districts, Dems lead by 5 points and voters want tax policy to prioritize working people, per Politico. Yet GOP is about to slash the safety net and give the rich huge tax cuts! New piece: https://newrepublic.com/article/191841/trump-approval-rating-pollster-bad-news-warning

https://x.com/Billbrowder/status/1893217423471337854?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweet This is outrageous. To coerce Ukraine to sign over its natural resources, Elon Musk is threatening to cut off Starlink. I guess the appropriate response from the EU would be to ban sale of Tesla’s if he does that. -
https://x.com/AFpost/status/1893058928511959530 In his first month in office, Trump’s administration deported 37,660 people, lower than Biden’s monthly average of 57,000 in 2024.

Meh. Let's see in 2026 in the mid-term elections how many have moved away.

Now he’s defending OJ and justifying the Not Guilty verdict. No, I was not defending OJ. I said that I understood how the "Not Guilty" was reached by the jurors. I didn't say that I agreed with it and I went on to point out that I thought OJ had committed the murders. -
Exactly. If you followed the trial, audio tapes were presented to the jury of Mark Fuhrman talking to a writer who interviewed him to help her, as an advisor, with a crime novel she was planning to write. The transcripts of the tapes were printed in the L.A. Times and it in Fuhrman talked about planting evidence as a police officer to help convict someone he thought was guilty, and as such the ends justified the means. Fuhrman later claimed it was not him talking from personal experience but rather speaking from the point-of-view of a bad cop. However the tapes were damning by themselves IMO, and were enough to create a reasonable belief in the minds of the jurors that evidenced had been planted by Fuhrman to frame OJ. As such I was not really surprised by the verdict, although I thought that OJ had indeed committed the murders.

74 year old grandmother in Glasgow arrested for silent vigil within 656 feet of an abortion clinic
squistion replied to Patented Phil's topic in The Geek Club
It should be understood that if she had been allowed to do that, then tomorrow there could be a dozen or maybe even fifty doing a silent vigil in the buffer zone. And why should she get a pass to breatk the law because she is a granny? -

Haruo Chikada & Vibratones - Soul Life (1981) A serious 80's J-Pop attempt to capture both the sound of The Police and Sting's vocals, which somehow works without coming across as a parody.
