[** Official President Joe Biden Thread **]

https://x.com/POTUS/status/1829608392253399201 My dad used to say, “Joey, a job is about more than a paycheck. It’s about your dignity. It's about respect. It’s about being able to look your kid in the eye and say, ‘It’s going to be okay.'" He was right. I've worked to make that a reality for every family in this country.

Trump talk only- no Eagles talk allowed (Steelers talk is OK though)

They have been deft so far in how they have handled this.

https://www.npr.org/2024/08/30/nx-s1-5095227/kamala-harris-interview-cnn-analysis 4. We did get some clearer policy ideas Asked what she would do on Day 1, Harris said she would look for ways to “strengthen” the middle class and start trying to implement her “Opportunity Economy” plan she laid out last week to bring prices down and try to make homes more affordable. Specifically, Harris talked in this interview about: Extending a $6,000 child tax credit to families for first year of a child’s life, and her A $25,000 first-time homebuyer tax credit She has noted other proposals in the course of this truncated campaign, like wanting to try to pass the John Lewis voting rights bill, which Republicans have blocked, and wanting to revive the border-security bill Biden drafted with conservative Republicans that Trump opposed and the GOP-led House then killed. Harris has been dinged for not putting forward deep policy proposals, but no candidate campaigns successfully as a walking policy memo. Campaigns do usually roll out policy papers that include cost analyses and the like, and Harris hasn’t done that, but neither has Trump in a serious way. Plus, presidential campaigns are really about big ideas and what direction a candidate wants to take the country, especially in this election, when people have such strong and ingrained feelings about Trump. 4. I think renaming it The MAGA Racists Thread would be more apt.

https://x.com/AhmedBaba_/status/1829336742765170813 This is the perfect way to handle this. Kamala Harris hasn’t taken Donald’s bait and humored any of his petty, bigoted attacks about her identity. Harris sticks to her message. Smart.

    Another Stolen Valor Lib

They have no sense of irony or hyprocrasy. Trump getting a fake medical excuse to avoid military service entirely is fine with them, but they are critical of Walz who served a total of 24 years in various units and jobs in the Army National Guard.
  7. It is a good think you don't make sweeping generalizations.
  8. No they speak for all the Latinos that were offended.
  9. They didn't have look very hard for a reason to be offended here.
  10. It is amazing. No one has blamed Kamala Harris for this.

You Go Girl! https://x.com/KamalaHQ/status/1829331750142578877 (Video clip from CNN at link) Q: I want to ask you about what Trump said last month. He suggested that you ‘happened to turn Black,’ questioning a core part of your identity Vice President Harris: Same old tired playbook. Next question please Q: That's it? Vice President Harris: That's it
  12. Yes it is. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/trumps-bad-hombres-draws-jeers-spanish-lessons To some, Trump’s ‘bad hombres’ is much more than a botched Spanish word PHOENIX — Donald Trump’s utterance of “bad hombres” offended some of the millions of people watching the final presidential debate, who called it racially divisive. Within minutes of using the phrase Wednesday evening, the Republican presidential nominee was getting a lashing about his mishmash of English and Spanish. “We have some bad hombres here, and we’re gonna get ’em out,” said Trump, whose rise to the party nomination was fueled in part by his plan to build a wall at the U.S.-Mexico border. He blamed these “hombres,” (OHM-brays) Spanish for men, for drug epidemics around the U.S. Trump has worked to broaden his appeal to Hispanics, promising a better life if he’s president. But to some voters, it’s a lost cause. Taylor Brandreth watched the debate while visiting in Bradenton, Florida. He backed Trump in the primary in Virginia, where he works as a government consultant, but that was mainly to block Sen. Marco Rubio from clinching the GOP nomination. Now he’s a Hillary Clinton supporter, and it’s largely because of what he considers Trump’s racially divisive tactics, including the use of “Spanglish.” “I speak Spanish fluently. I have to honestly say, listening to it, my jaw just instantly dropped because it was like a taunt,” said Brandreth, 27. “There was nothing good in the context. It was like, ‘Let me say something awful and racist and let me butcher this other language while I’m doing it.'”
  13. They certainly were when Trump first used that phrase.

Illegals try boarding school buses in CA

I was just thinking we need another thread on this.
  15. Latinos find it offensive, racist, and pejorative - so I will take their word for it.
  16. It is not pretending. The term is Spanglish and considered pejorative and racist by Latinos. On more than one occasion, I proved it in the past with links to Hispanic groups and individuals who found its use extremely offensive. But as you can see, it didn't do any good with the OP, so I am not taking the time to research it again.

    Ignore List

The guy was in a daily posting frenzy, posting numerous extremely long threads, all with a half dozen detailed links, quote, videos, and questions. It must have taken a couple hours of research/preparation just for each one. Those on the right said Gordo "owned the libs" but the reason liberals didn't engage him is because no one had the attention span or the interest to scroll through and respond to his verbose rants/diatribes. After one posts like that for years they don't stop unless they are permabaned (which didn't happen) or are unable due to death or incapacitation. So, either he is not with us or became unable to post any longer (perhaps due to dementia which arguably he was demonstrating). Whatever the reason we won't be seeing him again.

Venezuela gangs take over parts of Aurora

So Fox couldn't find a Caravan coming north to scare us with, so they made a new boogeyman with Venezuelan gangs.
  19. Bad Hombres? A phrase that exists in neither English or Spanish. Let the blatant racism continue.

No it doesn't clearly mean that, being involved in something is not the same thing as being in control of it. You need to take a course in semantics.
