The Democratic National Convention!!
squistion replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
From reports I've seen, he doesn't read much of anything, as he lacks the attention span. According to unnamed sources, when he was POTUS they had to simplify and "dumb down" the daily national security briefings because he lost interest if they were too detailed. -
Long-running audit in Ohio found hundreds of nonresidents registered to vote
squistion replied to Patented Phil's topic in The Geek Club
With only 138 illegal voters out of 8 million, it is not a number that should concern anyone and, yes, that by itself is not a big deal. It would have been more surprising if they hadn't found any voter fraud at all. -

I don't know where you came up with that from what I posted. -

Instantly iconic photo by NYT at link, of Amara Ajagu watching her great aunt, Vice President Kamala Harris, deliver her acceptance speech from the front row at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Thursday. https://x.com/JessicaValenti/status/1826960780098486328 This photo, my god (Todd Heisler/The New York Times) -

That was not what she meant, if you take her quote in full and in context, as the article notes. -

Context is everything as was pointed out in the article. -

No, not misty, but the crowd reaction showed the energy, excitement and enthusiam for Harris and her campaign. She looked Presidential last night and there should be a several point bump in most major polls, I would think. -

She articulated what she intends to do as POTUS. Check out a transcript of the speech for the details. And clarification on the Pelosi quote: https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/3/18/14957708/pelosi-pass-the-bill “We have to pass the bill,” she said, “so that you can find out what is in it — away from the fog of the controversy.” Conservatives — abetted by dozens of political journalists who should have known better — immediately seized on a truncated version of the quote. Pelosi was really expressing her confidence in the underlying merits of the bill, but it became instead a shorthand for the allegedly dodgy process through which Obamacare was passed. But Pelosi never said the bill was enacted in secret or under cover of night, because it wasn’t. She said it was enacted in a fog of controversy. The controversy, naturally enough, focused on the most contentious aspects of the bill rather than on the most broadly popular. Much of it was about misunderstandings or misconceptions — claims that the bill contained death panels or did nothing to restrain health care costs — rather than on the Affordable Care Act’s concrete benefits. Once the bill was in place, Pelosi was saying, people would come to value and appreciate its contents. She was mocked for this relentlessly for years. But everything that’s happening this winter shows she was right all along. -

Liberals have never said that. They have pointed to the difficulty of some minority folks and seniors in getting an ID, not that they are incapable of getting one. And no, voting illegally is not fine, but 138 out of 8 million registered voters is miniscule. -

https://x.com/kylegriffin1/status/1826820170758684915 Here's how Vice President Harris ended her acceptance speech: "Let's get out there and let's fight for it. Let's get out there and let's vote for it. And together, let us write the next great chapter in the most extraordinary story ever told. Thank you. God bless you. May God bless the United States of America." -

No one was saying it never happened, or wasn't happening, just that the instances of it were miniscule as this thread proves. -

She has to contrast herself and give people a reason to vote for her over him. -

They didn't "trott him out" as he was sitting with the rest of the family and responded honesty. I don't think Walz has really talked about him, although he may have while he was Governor of Minnesota. -

It doesn't come from anything related to the Democratic Party or this convention. He made it up. -

Yeah, if they looked hard enought they might have found twice that, 276 non-residents who voted, out of 8 million. -

With the growing number of Latino voters in Texax it seems certainly possible (with Trump wanting to put Grandma in a camp and deport her). -

138 NON-CITZENS VOTED IN OHIO!!!!!! Wait...that's all, out of over 8 million registered voters? https://apnews.com/article/ohio-voters-citizenship-referrals-42799a379bdda8bca7201d6c42f99c65 Ohio finds 597 noncitizens who voted or registered in recent elections, a fraction of its electorate COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio’s elections chief on Wednesday referred for possible prosecution 597 apparent noncitizens who either registered to vote or cast a ballot in a recent election — a higher number than he normally finds but still a tiny fraction of the state’s electorate. Republican Secretary of State Frank LaRose said that of those cases, 138 were found to have cast ballots and 459 registered but did not vote. They were identified as part of a routine review and referred to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost. The total compares to 148 noncitizen cases referred in 2022, 117 in 2021 and 354 in 2019. More than 8 million people are registered to vote in Ohio.
