I think it was more he realized that the perception was that he was no longer mentally fit (even though I am not sure that was the reality). I don't think you and those on the right here have a clue what is really going on in Democratic circles. The Democrats I know were not excited at all about Biden after that debate debacle but at that point we were stuck with him and had to vote for him as long as he had a pulse. Even Joy Reid and the other MSNBC hosts couldn't put a positive spin on his debate performance. That was then and this is now. The Democrats I know and those that I follow on Twitter are genuinely excited and enthusiastic about the Harris/Walz ticket. And the response among younger voters has been phenomenal. You don't seem to think that it is legitimate, but it is.

Normally that's true but the Biden debacle was instrumental in changing Democrats' minds that it was best if Joe would withdraw as nominee (and he agreed).

This is what he said: When asked about if he had said “terrible things” about Harris, Brown responded: “That’s so far-fetched, it’s unbelievable.
