    George Floyd scholarship is discriminating.

Horrors! You may find yourself in the minority.
  3. It was not a physical assault that required an intervention, which is why Penny was rightfully charged.

Ask some Native Americans/Indigenous People, they can probably tell you how it feels.
  6. Once again, Neely did not assault anyone. Penny decided to act as a vigilante and take the law into his own hands by using a chokehold that most police departments in this country have discontinued the use of, because it often results in a death (like it did here).
  7. Jordan Neely didn't assault anyone, and charges against Penny are fully warranted. https://www.cnn.com/2023/05/06/us/jordan-neely-subway-death-saturday/index.html A witness told CNN although Neely was acting erratically, he did not harm anyone nor did they see him armed with a weapon. “Passengers are not supposed to die on the floor of our subways,” Neely family attorney Lennon Edwards said. George Floyd scholarship is discriminating.

This suit does have merit. It is discriminatory based on race and North Central University should have known better. That said, a privately funded "George Floyd Memorial Scholarship" not connected with the University could be set up for black students only and that would not be a violation of the Civil Rights Act.

    ACLU

The ACLU is opposing this bill because it is banning gender-affirming care, which is not the same thing as sex change surgeries.

    ACLU

That is incorrect. The suit is not about sex-change surgeries for minors. It is about denying gender affirming care to minors which is not the same thing. From the ACLU website. https://www.aclu.org/press-releases/ohio-families-file-lawsuit-challenging-ban-on-gender-affirming-healthcare-for-transgender-youth#:~:text=COLUMBUS- Today%2C the American Civil, medical care for transgender minors. Ohio Families File Lawsuit Challenging Ban on Gender-Affirming Healthcare for Transgender Youth COLUMBUS- Today, the American Civil Liberties Union, the ACLU of Ohio, and the global law firm Goodwin filed a lawsuit challenging the unconstitutional enactment of House Bill 68, and specifically, a discriminatory provision in H.B. 68 that bans gender-affirming medical care for transgender minors. The organizations filed this lawsuit in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas on behalf of two families whose children are at risk of losing critical, medically necessary healthcare. The lawsuit asks the court to strike down H.B. 68 before the law is set to take effect on April 24, 2024. House Bill 68 violates four sections of the Ohio Constitution including the single-subject rule, the Health Care provision, the Equal Protection Clause, and the Due Course of Law provision. “The ban on gender-affirming care will cause severe harm to transgender youth. These personal, private medical decisions should remain between families and doctors; they don’t belong to politicians. H.B. 68 violates the Ohio Constitution in multiple ways. We will fight in court to ensure that trans youth and their parents can access critically important, lifesaving healthcare without government intrusion,” said Freda Levenson, Legal Director at the ACLU of Ohio. “We refuse to allow lawmakers to move forward with these cruel restrictions that directly harm transgender young people. Families are now confronted with the extremely difficult decision of fleeing the state they call home to protect their children or allowing them to go without the care they and their doctors know is right for them. H.B. 68 is government overreach point blank, and we are determined to reinstate Ohio families’ right to make personal medical decisions with healthcare providers – not politicians,” added Chase Strangio, Deputy Director for Transgender Justice at the ACLU. “HB 68’s restrictions on medical care for the transgender youth community not only defy medical consensus and expert judgment but eliminates a parent or caregiver’s fundamental right to make critical, informed healthcare decisions for them. Goodwin is proud to support the ACLU on this vital matter,” said Allison DeLaurentis and Miranda Hooker, partners in Goodwin’s Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice. [...]

More to the story than just that. According to the article, she came out as transgender in 2022, and "Since then she has lived in accordance with her female gender identity at school and in all aspects of her life." https://www.wpr.org/news/transgender-middle-schooler-files-federal-lawsuit-against-elkhorn-school-district Transgender middle schooler files federal lawsuit against Elkhorn School District A transgender middle school student has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the Elkhorn Area School District for denying her access to girls’ restrooms for the last two years. The 31-page complaint, filed March 21 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, alleges the Elkhorn Area School District violated Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. [...] According to the complaint, the student, referred to as Jane Doe, disclosed her gender identity to school officials in the fall of 2022. She was then allegedly forced to enter into a “Gender Support Plan,” requiring her to use faculty restrooms at the middle school. “These restrooms, which were located further away from her classes than the nearest girls’ restrooms, caused Jane to miss class time and to experience distress at being treated differently from other girls at school,” said her attorney, Joseph Wardenski, who leads a New York-based civil rights law firm. Jane is 13 years old. She was born male, but according to her family, began experiencing gender dysphoria in third grade. She came out as transgender at home and school in 2022. “Since then, she has lived in accordance with her female gender identity at school and in all aspects of her life,” Wardenski said. “She uses a traditionally female name, Jane, instead of her traditionally male birth name. She uses the pronouns she, her, and hers, which are pronouns typically used by women and girls. Because Jane is a girl, she wishes to be treated like every other girl at school.” [...]
