Woman Removed From Flight For Misgendering Crew Member
squistion replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
As I suspected, the OP is wrong and the thread title is incorrect. She didn't get removed from the flight for using the wrong pronoun. What is the world coming to when you can't trust the reporting of The Hindustan Times? -

If The Hindustan Times is the one reporting it, then probably not. -

If that were the case, they would have done it last night before the debate. -

https://x.com/Angry_Staffer/status/1806752026900258881 (video clip of Biden at NC campaign event at link) “I don’t walk as easily as I used to. I don’t speak as smoothly as I used to. I don’t debate as well as I used to, but I know what I do know. I know how to tell the truth. I know right from wrong. I know how to do this job.” Exactly the right message. -

The bar has been set so low, Biden will be viewed as the winner as long as he doesn't stumble and knock over the podium. https://x.com/AhmedBaba_/status/1806470454585999650 Just like the State of the Union, Biden will over-perform and Republicans will regret setting the bar so low
-
That is a disconnect that Trump's supporters don't see for some weird reason. And this "Dementia Joe" narrative/meme that has been trotted out Biden destroyed in The State Of The Union Address and should do so again since expectations have been lowered by this constant airing of the misleadingly edited and out of context video clips.

Constantly interrupting (which is a bullying tactic) does not make any debate respectful.
-
And of course this begs the question, if this debate is so unfair and one-sided, why did Trump agree to its terms?

Queen would probably be two syllables for me.
-
Most of the first ones listed: Heart, Styx, Tool, Queen (I will stop there as I'm not going through the entire list with you. And again, it goes to the way I enunciate which is probably more precise than most folks).
-
I know what a syllable is and can actually count the number of them in a word.
-
Maybe I am more precise in my enunciation. I agree "X" is one, but most of the others would be at least two syllables for me.

Protesters blocking roads could cost states federal highway funds under new bill
squistion replied to seafoam1's topic in The Geek Club
But it never will be for a variety of reasons, among them the concept of foreseeability and that punishment be proportionate to the crime committed, not to mention some violations of The Constitution (cruel and unusual punishment). -
Most of the responses are one-word-bands rather than one-syllable, but carry on.

Nice fantasy on your part, but I am not aware of any laws, anywhere in this country that are written with penalties like that. -

Yes, in Southern California (L.A.) where I'm at (kind of). From the Long Beach Press Telegram: https://www.presstelegram.com/2024/06/25/mcdonalds-5-meal-deal-went-on-sale-today-heres-what-you-get/ McDonald’s $5 Meal Deal went on sale today. Here’s what you get McDonald’s eagerly anticipated $5 Meal Deal is now on sale in Southern California. The deal appeared on McDonald’s app after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, the time restaurants switch over from their breakfast menu. “The rumors = true,” says McDonald’s website. Sort of, a spot check of prices throughout Southern California revealed. The deal includes four items from the fast food giant’s existing $1 $2 $3 Dollar Menu. The items are a sandwich, either a McDouble or a McChicken, four-piece Chicken McNuggets, small fries and a small soft drink. The spot check showed several restaurants are charging $6 for the combo with the burger and $5 for the chicken sandwich. On its app, McDonald’s describes the meal as “starting at $5” and says in fine print that prices could be higher at some locations. [...]

Meh. If this passes the House, it won't pass the Senate. Plus, will the bill define what specifically constitutes "reasonable efforts" of a state to prohibit the reckless obstruction of lawful vehicle traffic? If the bill is vague on that, there would probably be court challenges to withholding funds (which appears to be at the whim of The Secretary of Transportation).
