Some legal experts think the sentence was reasonable. https://thedailybs.com/2024/01/09/clearly-got-a-break-legal-experts-weigh-in-on-ray-epps-skirting-jail-time/?utm_campaign=james&utm_content=1-10-24 Daily AM&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_source=Get response&utm_term=email Counsel for law firm Lewis Baach Kaufmann Middlemiss Marc Frazier Scholl told the DCNF that the sentencing was reasonable. “His conviction was for a misdemeanor to which he pleaded guilty,” Scholl told the DCNF. “The sentencing guidelines authorized a sentence of no jail. I am not aware of any other criminal convictions. He served honorably in the military. A probationary sentence under those circumstances was well within the judge’s discretion.”

No one on the left I know of loves Stalin, who actually was responsible for more deaths than Hitler. -
That was the same guy I'm talking about (from Sherman Oaks) so that just makes one "leftist" to my count. The guy who was the FF league commissioner in Tim's league and who absconded with the league funds had nothing to do with his political ideology and I don't remember him being identified as liberal or conservative (but it is irrelevant in any event to the discussion).

Fact Check: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2021/11/17/fact-check-covid-19-vaccines-protect-against-infection-transmission/6403678001/ The claim: The COVID-19 vaccine doesn't stop you from getting or spreading the virus, so it can't protect others Our rating: False Based on our research, we rate FALSE the claim that the COVID-19 vaccine doesn't stop you from getting or spreading the virus, so it can't protect others. While vaccinated individuals can get COVID-19, experts and public health officials say they are less likely to contract the virus than unvaccinated people. That means they're also less likely to spread the virus to others. When vaccinated people do get sick, the chances of severe illness, hospitalization or death are low. Research indicates they also get better faster than their unvaccinated counterparts. -

I don't accept your premise that the vaccine is ineffective in stopping the spread of the virus and I believe most medical experts are in agreement with that. -

We were talking about how the virus is spread. People who are vaccinated are less likely to have the virus and to be able to spread the virus. -

https://www.who.int/news-room/questions-and-answers/item/coronavirus-disease-covid-19-how-is-it-transmitted#:~:text=The virus can spread from,%2C speak%2C sing or breathe. Current evidence suggests that the virus spreads mainly between people who are in close contact with each other, for example at a conversational distance. The virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe. Another person can then contract the virus when infectious particles that pass through the air are inhaled at short range (this is often called short-range aerosol or short-range airborne transmission) or if infectious particles come into direct contact with the eyes, nose, or mouth (droplet transmission). The virus can also spread in poorly ventilated and/or crowded indoor settings, where people tend to spend longer periods of time. This is because aerosols can remain suspended in the air or travel farther than conversational distance (this is often called long-range aerosol or long-range airborne transmission). People may also become infected when touching their eyes, nose or mouth after touching surfaces or objects that have been contaminated by the virus. -

If the disease can be spread from person to person, then the vaccine did stop probably millions from becoming infected. -

Yes, because it a virus that people can get by airborne transmission or by touching surfaces that someone who infected has touched. -
I only recall one person reneging on bets at FBGs and that was that guy from our neck of the woods, Southern California, that suckered people by offering odds that Trump would lose (can't remember his handle or the terms he offered). Anyway, he got like $1200 in bets and then disappeared forever after the election when he was asked to pay up. I felt no sympathy for those who didn't collect their winnings (and were actually out of pocket nothing). It got ugly as people got his name and his wife's name (and where she worked) and wanted someone local to visit him (in Sherman Oaks I think) and request in person that he "repay" the funds. Someone asked if I would do it and I said "Hell, no, I got no dog in this fight."

Taken in the context it was asked yes, which is why she answered how she did. -

Not answering a trick question is not pandering, it is simply not answering a trick question. Look at the actual exchange during the testimony she was given. -

So, you really believe that she doesn't know what a woman is? Look at what she specifically asked. It was supposed to be a "Gotcha" question but she didn't play the game. -
Including appeals? That could drag out Tim being paid for 5+ years if you lose (which is why you included that)

No, but that could be inferred from he said about Kimmel being worried about Epstein's list coming out. -
But they could take the 5th right, and not testify?

It was an emergency situation and just for one night. https://www.thecity.nyc/2024/01/09/floyd-bennett-field-james-madison-high-school-storm-evacuation-migrants/#:~:text=City officials began evacuating nearly, bearing down on the city. City officials began evacuating nearly 2,000 parents and children living at the Floyd Bennett Field migrant shelter Tuesday afternoon to spend the night in a nearby high school, as a powerful storm with wind gusts projected to reach up to 70 miles per hour was bearing down on the city.
