Actually, it wasn't and was similar to Joseph Stalin's being referred to as "Father" by the Soviet press. -

Actually, he didn't, but carry on. -
It is a crime on the books, but the way it is written it is almost to prove, so instead the charge is sedition or conspiracy to commit sedition.

I don't believe that she, herself, incited any riots, nor encouraged anyone to riot. And BLM didn't do that either, they just organized what were supposed to be peaceful protest marches and were not responsible for the violence committed after the protests ended and the protesters had gone home for the day.

Much more serious from a legal standpoint and that was why he received a 22 year sentence, less than the maximum possible under the statute.

It didn't stop it from spreading, but I think it saved millions of lives. The only way to prove it didn't would be to rerun history but this time with no vaccine available. -

But like with those who take medicines, you don't care if they do? -

It absolutely should have as it is a virus that can be spread by those infected. https://www.who.int/news-room/questions-and-answers/item/coronavirus-disease-covid-19-how-is-it-transmitted#:~:text=The virus can spread from,%2C speak%2C sing or breathe. -

These are two separate issues but the idea is the protection of people from diseases being spread by dirty needles and the public being protected by drugs not proven to be safe and effective. Also, needle exchange/distribution is done generally by individual cities, while the FDA controls the approval of drugs for public consumption in the entire country. -

Clean needles can prevent the spread of HIV and Hepatitis, not to mention other blood transmitted diseases. -

I thought that was in a little different category. Drug companies had been working for years on what they anticipated to be the next "SARS so a lot of the preliminary research and testing had already been done, it wasn't like starting from scratch like with AIDS. Plus, the vaccine was fast tracked for use, but I don't believe there were no clinical trials at all before it was made available to the public. -

Some people are completely unconcerned about the health and well-being of anyone but themselves. Perhaps you are in that category. I don't believe people should take medicine that has not been proven safe or effective and may actually be harmful to them. -

We all should as it may be harmful to those taking it for treatment or prevention of Covid. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivermectin During the COVID-19 pandemic, misinformation has been widely spread claiming that ivermectin is beneficial for treating and preventing COVID-19.[20][21] Such claims are not backed by credible scientific evidence.[22][23][24] Multiple major health organizations, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration,[25] the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,[26] the European Medicines Agency,[27] and the World Health Organization have stated that ivermectin is not authorized or approved to treat COVID-19.[23][28] -

Not about Ivermectin, which he still promoting (and there is no peer-reviewed study where Ivermectin has been shown to be effective against Covid). -
20 minutes after breaking a window (probably to gain entry). https://www.unionleader.com/news/crime/hudson-woman-gets-11-months-in-prison-for-role-in-jan-6-riot/article_c7bdbf68-70d7-5a31-87ba-006356b9af24.html The FBI claimed Niemela told her former friend she was a member of the Proud Boys and was in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6, 2021. She showed a video of her breaking a window in the Capitol building to the friend, the FBI said.

As noted earlier in this thread. Video was misleading and no context given. From Wiki "Video footage presented by Tucker Carlson on Fox News in March 2023 depicted Chansley walking through the Capitol building in the company of police officers who appeared to make no visible effort to stop him. Carlson, who was given exclusive access to the security footage by a top congressional Republican, characterized the officers as "tour guides" for Chansley and noted that none of the officers arrested him.[43] U.S. Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger denounced Carlson's segment, calling the show "filled with offensive and misleading conclusions." Manger specifically took issue with Carlson's claim that Capitol Police officers acted as "tour guides" for Chansley. He maintained that Capitol Police officers were badly outnumbered and did their best to use de-escalation tactics to try to talk rioters into leaving the building." [...] No reason was given for his release 14 months early, but I believe some others who were convicted also did not have to serve the entire time they were sentenced to.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacob_Chansley During the January 6 United States Capitol attack, Chansley entered the Senate floor in the Capitol wearing his "shamanic" attire,[12][35] including a bison-horned fur headdress and war paint in red, white and blue, carrying a six-foot-high (1.8 m) spear with an American flag tied below the spear head.[40] He was also photographed standing on the raised platform in front of Vice President Mike Pence's chair, gaining him significant media attention. Chansley was arrested and brought up on U.S. federal charges of "knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, and with violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds", on January 9. [...] In a January 14 court filing, federal prosecutors said that Chansley had left a note on Pence's desk in the Senate chamber that said "It's only a matter of time, justice is coming.

I would add, my understanding is that those who are still incarcerated for non-violent crimes and have not yet been tried, have other issues going on, like being a flight risk based on their background and/or criminal history or not complying with their terms of their release pending trial, etc.

Jack Smith will prove in court that Trump did more than nothing on Jan 6.

And it was a GOP controlled Senate, so they probably wouldn't have done so anyway.

He was forced to reach a settlement as a result of the lawsuit. He wouldn't have done so otherwise. He didn't settle on his own before the suit was filed or after it was threatened. Settling the suit was compelling a payment which I am sure he did not voluntarily or happily give.
