I am not. I am just noting that the meaning of thug, in some contexts, has changed over time, as have other words, reflecting common usage.

And some years ago, the word "gay" meant "happy" according to the dictionary, but that is not what is commonly thought of now if you say about someone "He is gay"

The term "thugs" has been used as a pejorative against blacks in recent years. I really don't recall it being used in describing whites.
