A sexual affinity or identify for lack of a better term. A preference indicates or suggests that a choice is available. Yet most gay men and lesbians I have known have told that me they were born that way and that for as long as they can remember knew they were different.

If you think that it is a choice, then please tell us when you made the choice to be heterosexual. For a choice that important you should remember all the details, such as your age, plus the date, time, location when you made such an important choice.

Your aunt isn't lumped in with the gay dudes if she is a lesbian (Fun Fact: That is what the L in LGB represents). And being gay or lesbian is not a sexual preference or a choice (living an LGBT lifestyle would be a choice, but sexual identity is not)

Joe wasn't or isn't liberal, at least from what I recall of his postings and my exchanges with him. And he was very conservative in some of the polls that he ran where he would ask for a "Yes or No" answer to complex issues that are nuanced and can't always be simply answered in the affirmative or in the negative.
