We don't know the real story as to why Retton has no health insurance. Did she decide to roll the dice and not have health insurance? Maybe she qualified for Obamacare but couldn't afford the reduced premiums and in her state there weren't subsidies that paid for it. I couldn't get health insurance pre-Obamacare because of a preexisting condition. Then I was able to get it but it was still $800 per month. For whatever reason, I think we should see some more empathy for her situation from some quarters than we have seen, like suggesting she deserves what has happened to her.
