The move follows weeks of increased enforcement since Stephen Miller, White House deputy chief of staff and main architect of Trump’s immigration policies, said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers would target at least 3,000 arrests a day, up from about 650 a day during the first five months of Trump’s second term. Tatum King, an official with ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations unit, wrote regional leaders on Thursday to halt investigations of the agricultural industry, including meatpackers, restaurants and hotels, according to The New York Times. A U.S. official who was not authorized to comment publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed to The Associated Press the contents of the directive. The Homeland Security Department did not dispute it.

From Google: The term "no kings" comes from protests against perceived authoritarian actions by the Trump administration. The protests, organized by the 50501 Movement, are a response to what they see as the president's attempts to consolidate power and undermine democratic norms. The slogan "no kings" is a direct challenge to these perceived actions, emphasizing a rejection of monarchy and a commitment to democratic principles. -

No they aren't. -
Exactly. A MAGA denizen of this forum could hardly wait to post this on Page 1 of this thread shortly after the news had broken (which we now know was a completely unwarranted assumption). "Imagine voting to cut healthcare to illegals triggers this"

And unfortunately that is what is being pushed, as though the city is in chaos, there's civil unrest everywhere. For most Angelenos, they're like, 'What city are they describing?' They are definitely not describing Los Angeles."

https://x.com/kylegriffin1/status/1934242045268201541 More than 5 million people took part in "No Kings" demonstrations in over 2,100 cities and towns across the country, with an additional 300 "Kick Out the Clowns" rallies being held. Philadelphia saw more than 100,000 attendees and Chicago 75,000, while smaller towns such as Pentland, Michigan, reported 400 in a town of 800, organizers said. https://axios.com/2025/06/14/no-kings-protests-usa-june-14-trump-military-parade -

That crossed my mind as a plausible explanation, but at this point we just don't know (and it doesn't seem to fit any narrative).

Yes, he worked for Walz, but the board he was appointed to was non-partisan.

This may be an overreaction from the LA Sheriff's Dept.

Yes. "Despite serving under Democratic governors, Boelter last registered to vote in 2022 as a Republican, according to the New York Post." -
No, it isn't true and there is always context missing from this shut-in, who has time to post in every thread in this forum, but never the time to verify what he posts as being factually accurate or to provide a link.

For the most part it wasn't. And I don't believe that the "No Kings" marches should be on this list either, so far I haven't seen any acts of violence at the protests today (that may change, but I doubt it). -

So far so good: -
Exactly. It is very easy to jump to the wrong conclusion in situations like this (2+2 sometimes = 5). That was why earlier in the thread I just reported what had been confirmed and tried to avoid attribution any blame. And we still don't know that much as far as the shooter's motives are concerned. Yes, he was appointed by Walz but the board he was appointed to was bipartisan. Yes, he had "No Kings" flyers in his car but we don't know why he did. His assassination target list was all prominent Democrats but was it for party affiliation or their anti-Abortion position? Many questions still to be answered.
