They were. Most of the videos were misleadingly edited and presented out of context to make Biden look bad. And I saw the State Of The Union address where he made just one verbal flub and then engaged Republicans in an unscripted "call and response." No one has been able to explain that. He may have deteriorated suddenly between that and the debate (which can happen in a matter of months with some folks that age).

No, it's not "totally normal" but that type of relationship is not considered particularly unusual or raises eyebrows in the gay community. Some younger gay men in their teens (of legal consent age) and 20s are looking for a relationship with an older man, a "father figure" type for lack of a better term (I don't understand the psychology involved, perhaps it is due to often having a poor relationship with their own father).

And in the case of Harvey Milk there is no proof he was a pedophile. As an adult in his 30s, he did have a consensual sexual relationship with a teenager but it was legal at the time. Per Randy Shilts book and other articles I've read, Harvey Milk was 33 when he met at a New York theatre production Jack Galen McKinley, who was 16 at the time. They did not have a relationship until a year or two later when Jack was 17 (or maybe 18) which in both New York and California would have been the age of consent. Even if you disapprove of their relationship because of the age difference, it was not illegal at the time. Their relationship ended a few years later when Milk decided to live in San Francisco while McKinley opted to stay in NY to be in a production of Hair.
