People really aren’t afraid to be racist anymore
squistion replied to TimHauck's topic in The Geek Club
It appears he really was fired if Grok is to be believed. Connor Estelle (aka Pinesap), a self-described Catholic fascist, debated Mehdi Hasan in Jubilee's "Surrounded" series with 20 far-right participants. He admitted to fascist views, said he didn't mind being called a Nazi, and defended extreme ideologies. The viral video led to his firing from cloud engineering job at VeUP for these "traditional right-wing views." He's now fundraising online. -

Trump: “Whether it’s right or wrong, it’s time to go after people”
squistion posted a topic in The Geek Club
Wait, what, it doesn't matter if it's right or wrong? He said this to reporters in the Oval Office today. https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/trump-fascist-doj-go-after-obama-1235391240/ Trump Goes Full Fascist: ‘Whether It’s Right or Wrong, It’s Time to Go After People’ President Donald Trump appears to be growing increasingly desperate to turn the national conversation away from his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He spent the weekend suggesting prominent Democrats should be prosecuted over bogus right-wing conspiracy theories, and on Tuesday he said it outright. “Whether it’s right or wrong, it’s time to go after people,” he told reporters in the Oval Office. Trump was asked which Democratic figures the Justice Department should target specifically in light of Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s recent call for Obama administration officials to be “prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law” over claims that they “manufactured” intelligence to allege Russia worked to get Trump elected in 2016. “It would be President Obama, he started it,” Trump replied. “The leader of the gang was President Obama. Barack Hussein Obama, have you heard of him?” he continued. “He’s guilty, it’s not a question. This was treason. This was every word you could think of. They tried to steal the election.” “This is like proof, irrefutable proof that Obama was seditious, that Obama was trying to lead a coup,” Trump said later. “It was with Hillary Clinton, with all of these other people, but Obama headed it up. … This is the biggest scandal in the history of our country.” [...] -

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/was-canceling-stephen-colberts-late-show-really-about-money-the-numbers-dont-entirely-back-it-up-4b100500 Was canceling Stephen Colbert’s ‘Late Show’ really about money? The numbers don’t entirely back it up. Paramount says its decision to cancel “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” despite it being the No. 1 late-night television program was “purely a financial decision.” But there is little in Paramount Global Inc.’s recent earnings report to indicate that the finances of its television division had eroded so precipitously that jettisoning one of its trademark programs would be a necessary solution. Executives even highlighted the show’s performance as the No. 1 late-night broadcast show. Overall, advertising revenue for the television division declined 21% in the first quarter compared with the same period the year before, but the company said that was entirely due to the fact that CBS had broadcast the Super Bowl in 2024 but not in 2025. Excluding that loss, advertising revenue was flat year over year. That’s not to say things have been rosy for CBS or any other television company. Paramount has seen advertising revenue at its television division decline 20% since the first quarter of 2022. Late-night shows have felt the decline acutely. In 2018, late-night shows on the major networks recorded $439 million in ad revenue, according to advertising-data company Guideline. Last year, that declined to $220 million. “This is purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night. It is not related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount,” the company said in a statement issued after Colbert announced his departure, planned for next May, to his studio audience on Thursday. The decision came as Paramount is trying to finalize its sale to David Ellison’s Skydance Media, a deal that has been held up pending approval by the Federal Communications Commission. Colbert’s contract was reportedly due to expire at the end of next year.
